Sludge - I actually thought Ben was a little sluggish the first half but your are right, he had 2 Hornets hanging on him all night. Sure he's an impressive player. I wish he had a long range shot to go with his strength underneath but, hey, I guess he doesn't really need both. Sanborn is impressive. Two more years of him! Like I said before, I think he can be better than Strong when it's all said and done.

Maybe when Algernon did his "mental math," he inadvertently thought "72-65."

hasanova .... You're psychic .... that's exactly what I was thinking.   :D

Wow, the pressure's on!   Here goes:

There once was a week with no dribblin'.
I'm bored, so I dial up a siblin'.
"So, Del, what's the reason?
Are hoops out of season?
Refs moonlight as elves? - am I quibblin'?"

He's younger, but is Rev Doc Del.
My brother, but hey, what da hell!
Black-collared and nice,
So what's his advice?  ...
"Play Snipes beatin' Macon - then yell!"

His comments were wise and upliftin'.
I pull out the tapes for some siftin'.
Three O.T. topples Lincoln!
ODAC tourney? ... we're stinkin'!
Found!  The shot that's always a giftin"!  lol

Happy Holidays!  If you can wrap a 90-foot buzzer-beater, I'll take it!  Peace

Thanks ... ask and ye shall receive.  lol  I appreciate the compliment very much.  When the rhythm gets prosaic, the Prozac gets arhythmia!  Hey, I made it through 18 years of school by pullin' it out of you-know-where at the last minute ... why stop now?!  :)

Thanks, narch.  You are the voice of reason with a courtside seat - my kind of guy!  You CLEARLY DO need a +1 Karma, so think of it as trading baskets.  :)

Tigers defeat SUNY - Old Westbury, 80-70.  Five Tigers scored in double figures, led by Turner King with 20 points (6 of 9 from behind the arc).  Sophomore Hakeem Croom came in for 8 minutes of quality backup time at point guard.

Tomorrow, the Tigers will play the winner of the today's second game, which is between Greensboro (4-4) and #26 Mississippi (5-1).

Nice and surprisingly easy win today for R-MC, 91-59 over previously once beaten Immaculata. Tomorrow's game against Elms (also with only 1 loss) will be interesting. Elms plays full-court pressure defense and has a couple of very quick players with great anticipation who intercepted lots of passes against Hamilton. It wasn't exactly a pretty win -- tons of turnovers, but their style of play certainly worked for them today.

looking at the score, i must be trading two's for threes...and you're hitting a much higher percentage :)

Nice win for the Jackets, but I don't think it was surprising.  RMC has a good to very good team and should be in the running for the ODAC championship, along with the Marlins, Quakers, Maroons, Tigers, and Eagles, in my opinion.

Immaculata, on the other hand, had a 6-1 record, but only 1 win against a good team (Ursinus, which beat W&L by 5 points).  Three of Immaculata's wins came against mediocre teams (Centenary, Marywood, and Alvernia) and two of Immaculata's wins came against teams that are still winless! .... Chestnut Hill (0-8) and Delaware Valley (0-9).

So my question is:  How good is Elms?  On the one hand, they have an 8-1 record.  Four of the Elms victories are against D3 opponents that have winning records:  Bowdoin (7-2), Westfield State (6-3), Worcester Polytech (6-3), and  Hamilton (4-2).  However, not a one of these four teams that have beaten by Elms is likely as good as the Yellow Jackets .... Elms beat Westfield State by 10 points but Amherst beat Westfield State by 49 points!  Elms best victory to date was probably their win over Bowdoin .... and the Polar Bears are hardly a D3 powerhouse.

The ODAC is a tough conference this year and my bet is that the Yellow Jackets will have no problem with Elms.  To date, the toughest opponents on their schedule have been John Carroll, Roanoke, and W&L ... all good teams.  RMC will have a real opportunity to prove what they're capable of when they play Guilford on January 12 and HSC on January 19, followed by Bridgewater, Virginia Wesleyan, and Guilford (again) in the following three games.  The Yellow Jackets' ODAC schedule is the truly tough part of their schedule.

Tigers win their second game in a row by the score of 80-70 ... and the one before that was by a score of 78-70 ... seems like something weird!

Turner King had 36 points and 8 rebounds ... and was the obvious choice for Holiday Hoops Tournament MVP.

I see that the Yellow Jackets also won their tournament today, easily beating Elms by 24 points.  Washington & Lee beat Thomas More by 23 points .... the biggest point-spread in a loss for Thomas More (5-5) so far this season.  A great day for the ODAC all the way around!!

The record of ODAC teams in games against other conferences' teams is now 34-18
