One of the greatest games was when the Tigers visited Crenshaw a few years back. Funny thing though, the Tigers didn't play the Jackets. Tigers cutting down the Crenshaw nets on their way to Salem had to really "sting". A sight that I imagine still traumatizes Jacket folk to this very day ;D
Jacket....couldn't resist.  ;) Enjoy your ride down to Mayberry Saturday. Wish I could make it. I'm sure it will be fun.

Of all the Tiger basketball events of the past 10 years, my favorite memory is when the Tigers beat UW-Oshkosh in Crenshaw in 2003.  Watching Monroe, Randall, Gregory, Willson, Holman, Brooks, Patrick, McKeag, and company cut down the Crenshaw nets was the best ....... and I think it is the favorite memory of many Hampden-Sydney fans.

That kind of event doesn't come along too often.       :)

That and the NC game against Platteville. What a ride that was!! Even though it didn't go the Tigers way....WOW...what a game!! (and tourn for that matter) There is a picture taken during that game in the lobby of the Salem CC. I get chill bumps every time I see it.  :o There is also a pic of the BC Stagg Bowl so I'm sure you Eagle fans can relate.  ;D

I know the picture you're talking about, allsky7.  I can find myself in the picture, but only because I know exactly where to look.

That was a game I will never forget!  Three heart attacks in one evening and I lived to tell about it.

Algernon...were you around for the 77 Tiger football playoff game against Albany State? (or am I showing my age?  :D) That is the only sporting event that I have seen in person that even comes close to the Platteville game. The Tigers were trailing 35 to 8 at half. They tied the game at 38 before losing 52 to 45. I was the ball boy on the Albany side of the field. Only problem, once again the wrong team won.  :'(

Tigers are losing at the half by a score of 39-25.

Guilford is losing to Roanoke at the half, 28-19.  Quakers were hitting only 10.9% of their shots.

I believe the Maroons knocked off Guilford 68-56!

Not to take anything away from Coach Page Moir - who certainly has a good team this season... but what is up with Guilford? Maybe my expectations for this team were way too high this season. But after what I saw them at the end of last season, knowing what they had coming back, and knowing how Coach P. changed up the roster to compensate for a loss of shooting on the outside, I still thought they would be a very good team this season.

Now... I am REALLY not sure!

VWC took it to HSC early on.... being very physical with the Tigers... Tyler Fantin was hitting early on and D'Juan Tucker turned in an excellent defensive effort the whole game, but in the 2nd half VWC got lazy and let the Tigers back into the game, but were still able to get the W over the Tigers.... now on to Lynchburg!!!!

I couldn't bear to listen.  The Quakers were 3 of 29 in the 1st half!  Losing 6'10" starter Tyler Sanborn since the HSC game has certainly hurt, but the shooting's streaky.  Also, for some reason, RC is simply a team that consistently has Guilford's number.  The same thing happened last season.  Anyway, I'm very disappointed, but not giving up on the Quakers for a good season.  Congratulations to the Maroons on a fine win.

not to take anything away from that performance, because a triple double is ALWAYS impressive, playing against "the system" clearly leads to some stat inflation - mu 6th man travis mcbryde had 35 and 18 against ehc earlier in the year

Algernon-how about that year that Jack Jirak and company went 26-0 through the regular season up to the championship game in the ODAC final? Wow! What a record. However,  Roanoke threw up a triangle 2 against them and won the Tournament Title. Still, being top ranked in the region, H-SC got to host a sectional and lost in the first round AT HOME. I feel your pain. Bet you could not stand seeing your nets cut down either.
