R-MC crowd at H-SC today will be somewhat reduced due to R-MC women (#1 ODAC/#12 d3hoops) playing at home against VWC.  Many students and alums will be in Crenshaw supporting the women today... but our hearts are with the men on the road as well!  GO JACKETS!

Scottie .. Thank you for throwing your ideas about quality play at this point, half way through the regular season.  Here are few comments, to contribute to the discussion ....

Actually, HSC has a VERY talented freshman, Paul Matthews.  He doesn't really have the stats to prove it (although he is 1st in 3PT FG% !), so he isn't going to be the FOY, but that is because Matthews is playing behind Turner King and Drew Prehmus.

David Carlson needs to be on the 1st or 2nd team .... and Dominic Trawick belongs on the 2nd team .... and Drew Prehmus has been HM his first 3 years, so I think he needs to be at least an HM for a 4th year too ....  :) .... actually, he deserves it on the basis of this year's play.

Brad "Parkers" is really Brad "Parkes" .....

.... and another error ... Clay Henson does not play for HSC (although I really wish that he did, even though he might have some difficulty getting into the starting lineup, given that he'd be competing for a spot with Drew Prehmus).
    Clay Henson (15.1 PPG, .43.3% 3PT%, 3.3 RPG, 12 steals, 30.75 Minutes)
    Drew Prehmus (13.6 PPG, 43.4% 3PT%, 4.8 RPG, 13 steals, 30.67 Minutes)

Mason Wooldridge doesn't belong on the 1st team until his team wins at least 1 ODAC game.  He's certainly a good player, but I think that he's getting a lot of points because he's on a team that's got no one else who can score.  Just kidding, but you know what I mean.  Think about how many points Troy Kaase would be getting if the Tigers had to go inside because they didn't have all the guys who can make the shot from behind the arc (King, Prehmus, and Matthews).

I don't think I agree with LaPorte or Parkes on the 1st team either.  I'd be thinking about Balenga, Carlson, and Kaase.

Also, A. J. Dowell is certainly an Honorable Mention.  Look at the way that he is leading a team that has a real chance to win the ODAC championship this year.

LC has won a game, did you completely ignore what I posted about what he did against E&H in an LC WIN??

If not for some very significant injuries (jason early and seasn sutherland to a plane crash, danny reed to an acl tear in september, and others) this team would have gotten at least two ODAC wins, maybe even three at this point. Mason has come up absolutely huge and done his best to help replace the leadership and contribution's that Jason Early and Sean Sutherland gave us before that plane crash.

Mason may be stuck on a team that's not going to finish top 5 in the ODAC, but Jason Sager was stuck on an EMU squad that never made the ODAC tournament in his 4-year career and he was a three time first-team all-odac player. To simply say Mason's not a first-team all-odac player because LC isn't racking up wins is ridiculous and unfair. Mason is every bit as good as Sager and I'd say better, so if Sager is good enough to be three-time first-team All-ODAC on a losing team then Mason should be given the chance to do the same. Just think of how many points he could be getting if he didn't have 5 other players on the team who are a threat to score 10-20+ points a game in Kwame Safo, Evan Fancourt, Brad Puffenbarger, Jeff Langrock, and now Steven Echols has returned - that's not just an opinion, it's a statement of fact because the first four have scored over 20 in at least one game and have had several other double digit scoring games. Echols hasn't scored double digits this year (and we all know he's more than capable of going off for 20+), but he has only played in three games and hasnt gotten the number of minutes he would typically get because he just returned

Say what you want about the other players, I know not everyone is going to agree with my selections, but if very good players on bad teams have gotten 1st team all-odac in the past, then Mason deserves the same chance they received. If the coaches don't think he's first-teamm all-odac then that's fine, but to say he doesn't even deserve the chance is simply unfair.

Scottie .... Good argument there.  Yes, Mason Woolridge is possibly deserving of 1st team All-ODAC ..... I want to see how he does when he comes to HSC next Wednesday.

2nd half just started.  Carlson drills 2 3 pointer's to put RMC up 3!

rip08

72-59 RMC wins on the road!  HSC started on a 13-0 run to begin the game but RMC battled back to get the win.

3sdown

Macon pulls one out down at HSC.  Tigers got off to a huge lead (13-0 over the first 4:30 I believe) at the beginning and then a 22-8 Macon run put Macon back in control.  It was fairly close at the half, but Macon pulled away and won 72-59 I believe.  Couldn't listen to the game on the RMC line (not audible for some reason), but did listen to the HSC's announcers.  They did a nice job on the game, but were down some especially as Macon took control.  Short and Carlson carried the Yellow Jackets.  Dixon appeared to have a decent game, partially due to the penetration of RMC's guards.  The Tigers had no real answer for Short in the 2nd Half.  Coach Rhoades has the young kids playing well it sounds like.  Go RMC!

mybleedinghands

Marlins up 45-31 at half. Mason leads LC with 17 points (6-11 overall, 3-5 from three, 2-3 from FT) and 4 reobunds while Steven Echols has 8 points (3-3 overall, 2-3 FT). Fantin has 15 points (6-9, 2-3, 1-1), fields with 11 (5-10, 1-3), and hassell has 10 (5-8) and 5 boards. VWC having a hard-time guarding Echols, seems everytime he epentrates its a layup or a VWC foul. Fantin has made some tough shots and is making strong moves down low.

Great game for the Jackets!audio on our site finally got up for the 2nd half and i got to listen to my friend and classmate Marty! Can't handle listening to the tigers announcers! We started out slow but Carlson,Short,Jeremy, and even some freshmen came on strong for us-Mike's got those kids believing in themselves, now! As long as we don't look past the next game anticipating a big win at Wesleyan next saturday[Hopefully]we'll be ok!We haven't won there in 3 yrs and i really think we're due-and they're more vulnerable than they've been in YEARS!-GO JACKETS!

Congratulations to RMC.  They outplayed HSC in the 2nd half and deserved the win.

HSC did exactly what they needed to do which was get off to a great start.  Rhoades had his young team ready though.  They did not panic and slowly worked their way back into the game to trail at half by 3.  Then Carlson tied the game to start the 2nd half and then hit a second three to put Macon up by 3.  I don't think Macon trailed again from that point on.  The difference in the game (IMO) was Macon's ability to get easy shots on the offensive end and shutdown Turner King in the 2nd half.  The Tiger's starters also looked a little gased at the end of the game.  I guess I am spoiled because of the depth that we are used to having, but I think we need more contributions from the bench.  Paul Matthews, Lane Medlin, and others off the bench need to contribute more when they come in.  This is a tough loss, but the better team won today.  Time to regroup and prepare to beat Lynchburg on Wednesday.

Final:  Guilford 120, E&H 112 at Emory, VA.

Quakers go to 9-4, 4-2 while the Wasps fall to 4-9, 0-6.  Strong led GC with 39 pts/15 reb/5 blk.  Camillo Weinz had 35 (11 treys) for E&H and Robert Hudson added 22.  Also for GC, Kimbrough 18, Neville 15/10, Belkoski 14/10 and Henson 14.  A packed house & a very long game due to an extended halftime ceremony for long-time Coach Bob Johnson - my best wishes to him & his family!  Typical of past games versus E&H, Guilford had zero attempts behind the arc, but hit 57% overall.  Meanwhile, Emory & Henry was 25 of 78 from three-point range & 37 of 103 overall.  GC outrebounded E&H 65-40.

I will be in Ragan-Brown Wednesday night when the Roanoke Maroons come to town!  Go Quakers!

Macon played impressively, but still was down by 3 points at the half.  They tied the game early in the second half and led by 4-8 points for the rest of the way until the last 3-4 minutes of the game, when they upped it to a 13-point victory.  The Tigers couldn't hit their shots today, hitting only 39% overall and 25% from behind the line, in part because of tough Yellow Jacket defense.

Carlson and Dixon played a great game -- and I was singing their praises until the end of the game, when I found myself agreeing with some other HSC fans' comments about their poor sportsmanship on the court, especially during the last minute of play after the game had already been decided.  They were mid-court and making gestures and laughing at the HSC student fans, displaying a level of rudeness that I think is pretty rare in the ODAC.  I'm sorry to comment on it, but that kind of stuff didn't happen when Jared Mills, Kurt Bergmann, or Justin Wansley led the RMC team.  I hope it was only a 1-time occurrence.

The Tigers are certainly missing Tyler Murray, although Carlis Trops and Jyri Laakso have been playing increasingly well.  They should have an easier time on Wednesday against Lynchburg and then will have a tough set of games next weekend .... Roanoke / Washington & Lee.  With a 2-4 ODAC record now, they can still hope to finish the 1st half of the season with a 5-4 record.
