Is that a Penn Atlantic feed? You really need a robust internet connection to get those. The first year they were doing D-III games my DSL didn't cut it.

Jackets win. Now they can think about saturday. It will be a tough game. VWC starts three guards that run like deer. Fantin can rule the middle and I think Fields is a weapon coming off the bench.
To copy a wise old coach that I know, "Don't know if we can score more points then them but we will like them square in the eyes and compete with them." Is that close enough Dave?  GO JACKETS!!!

Our 1st win at E&H in 10 years

Looks like the heavy minutes Mason has been logging since Christmas are starting to take a tole on him, especially last week when he played 37 and 33 in the two games and is starting to get 30+ minutes on a regular basis with 35 minutes today. He hasn't looked this gassed in other games I've seen him play, so that's my best guess. Averaging over 30 minutes a game is tough for any player, especially for a post player, and another LC big man and the rest of the team is simply going to have to step it up and allow Mason to get more than just stints of 30-60 seconds of rest or less. In most cases you just can't afford to put yourself in the situation where you best player absolutely has to be on the court for such long stretches with little to no rest, even Ben Strong gets some stints of rest that are longer than just 30-60 seconds...

I will be very surprised if Guilford plays as poorly as they did against Roanoke last Wednesday night.

Wow, the unranked Guilford Quakers shocked the 24th ranked Roanoke Maroons, 92-56!

All kidding aside, what a difference a week makes.  Guilford jumped out to a 24-3 lead, led 45-16 at the half and had as much as a 45-point 2nd half lead.  The subs came in early and often - there were a few guys in the game tonight for the last 7 minutes or so that I don't believe had seen any action this year.

It was an absolute reversal of last week's game at RC - perhaps even more pronounced.   RC looked awful in the first half and GC looked as though they could beat the Celtics.  The boxscore won't be pretty for the Maroons.

Unofficially, eleven Quakers scored - I had Strong with 15, Belkoski 15, Bonner 13, Henson 10, Kimbrough 10, Neville 9 and Edmond 9.  Strong sat early tonight, but influenced the game in so many ways.  Sanborn played well, but did not start - great to have him back.  For RC, Felix 15 and LaPorte 10 led the way.

Depending on this weekend's results, expect these teams to move in opposite directions in the Top 25 poll.  Peace

Guilford defeated Roanoke in Greensboro by 36 points!  Whoa !!!!!  That will definitely knock Roanoke out of the Top 25 and it will be interesting to see which team the Maroons bring to Kirby Fieldhouse this coming Saturday afternoon.

Virginia Wesleyan won by 5 points on their home court over EMU, 97-92.

Hampden-Sydney was down by a score of 46-29 at one point near the end of the first half but scored 5 to go into the locker room only down by a score of 46-34.  They were very sluggish.  Lynchburg couldn't hit anything in the second half and the Tigers dominated, 46-25, going ahead for good with 11:34 to play and winning by a margin of 80-71.

For Lynchburg, Mason Wooldridge had 20 points and 7 rebounds in 35 minutes of play.  For the Tigers, Troy Kaase had 34 points, a career high, along with 9 rebounds.  Turner King got 24 points and 10 rebounds and Karlis Trops scored 7 points, got 8 rebounds, and had 2 steals.

since when was Tyler Murray out with an injury?

Tyler was injured in the Tigers' game against EMU on January 13.  He didn't play against Virginia Wesleyan or Randolph-Macon.  This was the Tigers' first win since the loss of Tyler, who has a fracture and will be out for a number of weeks but, hopefully, not for the rest of the season.

rmc-1982- where was Marty tonight? I did not see him broadcasting nor did I see his father tonight. I pray that all is well.

Bridgewater controlled the tempo for the first half and into the 2nd half. Damn that Leatherman is one hell of a coach. I have great respect for him. His teams never panic. The Yellow Jackets finally got a little bit of separation around the nine minute mark, but it was tough doing so. The Eagles always play great defense. A very sound team, they are.

Now, on to the beach we go for a matchup against the Marlins. I guess every ODAC team finishes their first round games against each other this weekend. Then on to round two! What a great conference!

rmc1982

I noticed Marty wasn't broadcasting-my frat brother Jesse Hellyer went tonite-I talked to him this afternoon and he couldn't make it to Wesleyan sat. so he took his boys and some friends tonite-I was working late so I couldn't make the trip[It's 1.5 hrs from franklin where i am-only 1 hr to wesleyan-so sat is an easier trip for me]I'll call him in the a.m and post asap-he and marty are very close so I know he'll know-i caught the last 10 min on the web-sounded like the Eagles played well but couldn't handle Mike's pressure late,as is usual.I talked to Mike yesterday and he said to bring a contingent of old, fat, loud guys to the game sat.so he could look behind him and know he was covered!  C-YA there!!!!Us old, fat, loud JACKETS are easy enough to spot!!Hope we play well-I'll let ya know about Marty.....Billy

sludge

If Guilford plays D the way they did tonight against Roanoke, they'll win a lot of games!   ;D
