Troy Kaase with 18 point and 10 rebound for the Tigers at Emory and Henry today, as HSC comes home with the win, 94-89.  Brent Dillard came off the bench to score 20 points for the Tigers.  HSC gave up too many turnovers to the Wasps, but won by hitting over 60% of their shots.

StH, agree with you on Brown. He was the only bright spot at the batten center a few weeks ago defensively. And he has plenty of hops.

I think he could be contending for ODAC Player of the Year by his junior year.

DonHO-I made my comment about him at VWC because they didn't see the plyer we've seen all year-he will be the one of the premier players in the ODAC,if not POY,by his junior year.He may even mature quicker and contend next year........GEEZ he can jump!Marty and co went WILD when he went AROUND a screen and swatted a shot ,then saved it to one of his teammates while falling out of bounds in the first half today.his stats aren't always great, but he does so many things that don't always show up in the boxscore.Look for him tohave another big day tomorrow......

Vwc over Roanoke without any trouble today. Fantin would be my POY. He gives his all and he knows How to play. No slam on Ben Strong, just think Fantin makes better basketball plays. TonTon is far from an All-American.
You're right DonHo-Fantin was the main coffin-nailer on us a couple of weeks ago-he made some big shots,as did Hassell.I'm gonna be in Colorado Springs on biz next weekend, but you can beleive I'll have my laptop tuned to Marty and co. next sat evening.....you going tomorrow?

Probably stay at the beach tomorrow. May run back to the Batten center to see W+L . With what I saw today the Jackets should stay on a nice little comeback trail. Roanoke IMHO has some nice guards but are very slow inside. So if you slow down the ball you should be able to play the game at your pace.

rmc1982

One of the things we did today, and even marty and co noticed it,was really start to push the pace up .Now that may not be the best strategy against VWC,but against teams like this it is.I'm so sorry i've gotta miss the game next weekend in Crenshaw-the strategy and the crowd, students and all, should be electric.......I wasn't gonna go tomorrow-my frat bro's couldn't go,my son has school work he has to do,etc....but i think i'm gonna go up by myself.......catch a bbq lunch at the smokey pig b4 the game...yum.....

Not sure why I even still care anymore...
Well, to paraphrase the old saying, "Guilford rented a mule this afternoon and his name was Ol' Hornet."  Not pretty at all for LC.  It was 64-23 at the half and just kept getting worse with a 53-point lead being the high-water (or low-water) mark, depending on your perspective.  I guess home court is worth 4 for LC, since the score was 101-55 in Lynchburg.  The Hornets have some good players and impressed at times, but overall they were seriously outmanned.  I'm sure it was a painful day.  Everyone played for GC and 13 Quakers scored.

Ben Strong reached 30/11 with 9:01 to go, so he now has 2001 points, passing Gary Devlin '79 and former NBA All-Star M. L. Carr '73.  He's 5 points behind NBA legend Lloyd (World B.) Free '76 and 21 behind my father's first cousin, David Smith '72.  I think Ben will finish in 2nd place at Guilford as another former NBA All-Star, Bob Kauffman '68, is out of reach at 2570.  Wooldridge got 18 for the Hornets and looked like a solid player.

Quakers improve to 16-4, 11-2, while LC drops to 3-17, 1-13.

EMU 71
BC 70

Think it's safe to say now that E&H and LC are out of the tournament. HSC better watch out, EMU might just take over the 7th spot and leave Sydney in 8th if they don't start playing better.

Getting ready to leave to ride to Ashland in a while to see those Jackets battle Roanoke in Crenshaw this afternoon-should be a good game-Hope we can stay on a winning track-with a win we're in 2nd place all by ourselves......

Another ridiculously good defensive effort led VWC to about a 25 point win over W&L.  VW held down the paint, something I doubted they'd do, and shot fairly well.  The quickness of the Marlin guards really got to the Generals.  Another very solid game for Tyler Fantin, whose company down low, Hassell and Carlton, also played well.  Perhaps the level of competition is deceiving me but the back to back convincing wins over Roanoke and W&L have me thinking VWC has finally hit its stride.  The defense and guards who have been there all along are now being accompanied by solid inside play.  They could be a scary draw come tournament time.  W&L is talented and provided Greg has better performances down the stretch, I wouldn't look forward to playing them.

rmc1982

Boy did the Jackets almost BLOW one today-after being behind most of the first half they held a slight lead at half-then we streak ahead by 14 with the ball and 2 or 3 chances to blow the maroons out of the gym and we let them back in it by not playing good defense on the blocks, turnovers, and missed foul shots down the stretch.I don't think I've ever seen Short miss 4 foul shots(3 in a row) down the stretch.Paige Moir gets a "T" with a minute left(not very smart but I think he just got caught up in the moment)and us up by 4 i think.Short goes to the line and misses BOTH!!Then Boris Varela turns it over quickly........Roanoke just couldn't buy one from then on out and we started hitting a few for the final margin........Two things-if we play like that wed nite we'll get blown out at BC,but next saturday we'll get crushed for sure if we can't stop Fantin and Hassell on the block, not to mention the rest of the guys.#2-Jordan Brown is the REAL DEAL,though-that kid can flat-out SKY-he blocks shots, hustles all over the floor, hit a few 3's,steals the ball-his only problem right now is he can get cheap fouls, and he has trouble with clutch free throws-both pretty routine freshman errors....but I know i'd put him on the line if i had to foul somebody w/a minute left in a 1 and 1 situation....but today, with the exception of Jeremy Dixon, everybody choked!!!But a win is a win,and we definitely needed it.Another freshman played very well for us today-6'6" Danny Jones-he hit a few clutch shots down the stretch...... Short played well except for the free throws....all in all-we're Damn LUCKY!......

mybleedinghands

Everybody choked, but they won? You can't choke AND win, choking means you choked away a win and ended up losing...

Ever heard of using a space after, and periods, exclamation points, etc.?

Well I quit at this point. I've only got two weeks to gain ground.
