I've looked at the remainder of the schedule and, unless I'm mistaken, these are the only theoretical possibilities, regardless of what happens during the remainder of the season:

Guilford    14-2    Will definitely be the #1 seed, as they would win a tie-breaker against VWC and RMC even if they finished up 14-4.  Put them on the schedule for 1pm on Friday, most probably playing EMU.

Virginia Wesleyan    13-4    Will almost certainly be seeded #2.  They will only be seeded #3 if they lose to Lynchburg on Saturday at the Beach (imagine that!) while Randolph-Macon wins their last two games, because the Marlins win a tie-breaker with the Yellow Jackets.

Randolph-Macon    12-4    Will almost certainly be seeded #3, but they could theoretically be #2.  They lose a tie-breaker to VWC, but they win tie-breakers against both Roanoke and Washington & Lee.

Roanoke    10-6    Will be seeded #4 or #5.  Put them down for a 3pm game on Friday vs. Washington & Lee.

Washington & Lee    10-6    Will be seeded #4 or #5 and play Roanoke in the quarterfinal on Friday at 3pm.

Bridgewater     7-9    Will be seeded #6 or #7.

Hampden-Sydney    7-9    Will be seeded #6 or #7.

Eastern Mennonite    4-12    The Royals only need to win 1 of their 2 remaining games (against Randolph-Macon and Roanoke) to get the #8 seed.  Even if they lose both, they'll get the #8 seed if Guilford defeats Emory & Henry in Greensboro on Saturday.  However, if the Royals lose both games and Emory & Henry does the unbelievable and upsets Guilford, the Royals will stay home from the tournament, as the Royals would lose a tie-breaker to Emory and Henry.

Emory and Henry    3-14    Hanging on to a small hope for a #8 seed.

Lynchburg     1-15     If the Hornets lose to both Hampden-Sydney and Virginia Wesleyan to finish their season (a pretty good bet), they'll finish with a 1-17 ODAC and 3-22 Overall record.  During the past 6 years, the Hornets have had a 3-15 ODAC record in three different years, but their 1-17 record is the worst of the past 6 years.

Algernon,

Doesn't Bridgewater have the tiebreaker with HSC since they split, but BC beat a higher seed in VWC and should end with a higher point total when you calculate the points based on finishing positions?  Just wondering.

Bridgewater will have the tiebreaker under most scenarios.  However, let's just say that HSC loses to Lynchburg and defeats Randolph-Macon while Bridgewater goes 1-1 against Roanoke and W&L.  In that case, the Tigers and Eagles are both 8-10.  They've won/lost to the same teams except that (1) the Tigers have defeated #3 RMC and #4/#5 Roanoke, while (2) Bridgewater has defeated #2 VWC and #10 Lynchburg.  In that case, the Tigers would win the tie-breaker.

There is another scenario or two that would give HSC the tiebreaker, depending on how a few different games play out.  It will be simpler after tomorrow evening's games, when there is only 1 game left.

I know that we're both hoping that the Tigers will win their last two regular season games and finish 9-9.  In that case, they'll be seeded #6 unless the Eagles beat both the Maroons and the Generals.

Ultimately, whether the Tigers finish #6 or #7, they only get to the ODAC championship game by playing both the Yellow Jackets and Marlins .... it's just a question of which team they would face first.

LC now has live stats! Barring any unforseen screwups between now and Wednesday, the game against Sydney will have live stats

Jacketlawyer - Glad you liked it...I am never sure how my "humor" translates to the written word.

Well, if for some reason VWC and R-M square off again, we'll be doing high tea and ballroom dancing at the half. . . ;)

And then there's a great radio broadcast for the Wednesday game at http://hams-av.hsc.edu/basketball/

okay here's my final all-odac team and awards for the season:

First Team
Ben Strong - no surprise here
Mason Wooldridge - the focal point of opposing defenses often being double teamed and does not receive much help from teammates, yet still puts up big numbers
Tyler Fantin - best player on his team, better than Balenga
Greg Bienemann - one of the most efficient players in the league
Justin Short - very underrated. one of the quickest guards in the league and is great at getting to the rim
Turner King – Best sophomore in the ODAC - scores, rebounds, dishes out assists, blocks shots surprisingly well for a guard

Second Team
Femi Kusimo – the most efficient player in the ODAC and can make it very difficult on his man when on defense
Josh LaPorte – does it all for Roanoke. Scores at a high percentage, rebounds, blocks shots, gets steals, gets assists, plays good D. Basically does it all
Curtis Peery – vastly underrated, especially for his solid post defense
Brad Parkes – one of the smoothest post players in the ODAC, and he does it while being undersized at 6'3"
Troy Kaase – rebounded great from the knee injury, picking up exactly where he left which got him first team but the ODAC has so much talent that's it's hard for him to get that again.
Dominic Trawick – rebounds pretty well for a guard and can light up any team in the ODAC.

Honorable Mention
Drew Prehmus – good all-around player. Shoots threes well, rebounds well, can make plays for others
TonTon Balenga – I still don't see him as a second-teamer. Known for his offense and three point shooting, yet barely shooting over 40% overall and isn't even shooting 30% from three.
Jordan Brown – Future POY candidate, could very well make him a second-teamer
Jeremy Dixon – Solid player who scores well at a high percentage and can control the glass
Clay Henson – one of the deadliest three point shooters in the ODAC. Comes across as a one-dimensional player, which he is to a degree, but he does rebound well for his size (at least the numbers indicate it) and he gets a good number of assists.
Michael Oblitey – second leading scorer for the eagles, first in rebounds, shoots 50% or better overall and from deep. Can light a team up and very underrated in my opinion

Player of the Year: Ben Strong – picking anyone else is laughable

Freshman of the Year: Jordan Brown in a blowout – I'm sure there are other good ones out there (George Johnson from EMU is another one that comes to mind), but theres none putting up the numbers Brown is putting up and he's doing it on a team that could win the championship

Coach of the Year: Adam Hutchinson – who would have thought W&L would be contending for a top 4 seed? Not me and I don't think many outside of Lexington would have thought that either.

Jacketlawyer-

Well the only way that VWC and RMC can meet up again is in the tourney...I didn't know you took your ballroom dancing and tea on the road?  You RMC guys are getting so progressive.   :)

STH - great analysis!

Cant wait for tourney time!!!

Jacketlawyer

Great analysis, Scottie.  Difficult to argue with it, and I guess in your position, you've seen everyone. 8)

Tonight is Senior Night for LC, and Jason Early will be making his return to LC tonight, his first on campus appearance since the plane crash back in November - so basically I'm expecting an inspired LC performance, they may not have the ODAC tournament to be playing for, but they have Jason to play for now.

only team i haven't seen is HSC. of course i've seen Kaase play his first-team all-odac year, and i've seen prehmus for three years so I pretty much know how good they are. haven't seen the "new and improved" King, but his numbers put him on the first-team bubble at worst i'd imagine.

old_lion

I don't follow HSC very closely, but I do check them out occasionally, since they have a couple of Ga guys.

Can anyone tell me what happen to Tyler Murray? I assume some sort of season ending injury?

Thanks.

Turner King should be second only to Ben Strong in POY balloting, in my opinion.

Tyler's leg was fractured on January 13.  That was over 5 weeks ago.  We still have some hope that he will play before the season is over.

Guys:

I've been out of the loop and have not been able to see but one HSC game this year vs. RMC. That was not pretty by the way !!!!!

Seemingly VWC, GC & RMC are the three best in the ODAC. Do all three have a reasonable shot at post season play ?

What are the chances of HSC making a run in the ODAC tourney again this year ? Appears they have played much better the past few games.

Cheers to all and good luck during the ODAC tourney !!!!

Nice to see you back, TFA.  Algernon's the man for your questions.

Let's not forget those Maroons.  They make me NOIVOUS. :P
