18 players out of a 10-team league seems like a fair amount.

There are a couple of other conferences that do a sportsmanship team. It might catch on. The Empire 8 specifically has been pushing a sportsmanship movement in Division III.

Allsky,

Six per team? What is this ... Tibetian Yak wrestling?    :D

Three or four teams of 5 might have been a little more logical ... but I like it. An effort was made to hand out more atta boys, to recognize more guys efforts and accomplishments ... you gotta appreciate that.

It shows your selectors heads were in the right place ... as opposed to stuck up somewhere dark and smelly ...   ;)

Guess they went to the same in service with the Dalai Llama that the GSAC folks went to.  The DL make the Yak wrestling AC team you know.  :D :D
Onward and upward....I'm off to Salem to cheer for the Tigers. I'm sure all 3 Tigers that made all ODAC would trade it in a hearbeat for a W over the Jackets tonight.  8)

Guilford has a 30-point lead over EMU, with 12 minutes to go in the game.  I guess that Guilford will finish no worse than 22-6 .... ;)   Next up:  Roanoke or W&L!

All of the tournament games can be followed via live stats at http://www.odaconline.com/livestats/xlive.htm

Final GC 81 EMU 66

Four Quakers in double figures led by Strong's 23.  Guilford had a 31 point lead before substituting liberally.   Parkes and Bailey both with 12 points for EMU.

Ummm, ehhh, what's the "Sportsmanship Team?"  ???

"For the first time, ODAC men's basketball also recognized an All-ODAC Sportsmanship Team.  Those individuals, which are listed below, were selected by their coaches to represent their respective schools.  Each school placed one student-athlete on the team." I would assume these are the players the coaches thought were the best sports on each school's team

I hope that the all-Conference team selection does not preclude selection to the Sportsmanship team selection.

Both Drew Prehmus (HM) and Josh LaPorte (2nd) were all-odac and on the sportsmanship team.

Roanoke is victorious over W&L.  AJ Dowell leads the way along with Curtis Peery.  They will need more of the same to handle Guilford tomorrow.

Yeah, I just checked, it was 76-66 RC over W&L.

Dowell 16, Peery 16 and Milton 14 led the Maroons.  McHugh 17, Bienemann 17 and Goodman 11 were in double figures for the Generals.  W&L had a 2-point lead about halfway through the first, but RC started pulling away and didn't trail again.

The Quakers and the Maroons split this year, so it should be interesting.   I hope to be there for the 6 PM tip!

Please explain how Kusimo didn't make honorable mention.

I don't have any explanation for that one.  Beats me.

Its a great tournament so far.  More rumbles to come!

Wesleyan escaped Bridgewater.  The most entertaining game of the day though is still yet to come in my opinion.  Guilford was dominant in the opener.........the final margin doesn't really do it justice.  Roanoke vs. W&L was competitive but Roanoke just has too much talent.  I'd say W&L is better coached and shows more heart on a consistent basis but Roanoke didn't let this one slip away like they did earlier in the month at the Bast Center.  Roanoke should have played Guilford in the semis last year but Guilford took a nap in the first round and got beat by Bridgewater.  They split this season with Roanoke winning by a solid margin at home and getting absolutely embarassed on the road.  Should be an interesting game.  The question is will 7 seniors find a way to get it done on their not so neutral court and extend their careers one more game.  My gut feeling says no, but if AJ and CP play like they did today and Laporte stays out of foul trouble, they have a chance.

With a 17 point halftime lead, Macon looked like they were well on their way to playing Virginia Wesleyan in the primetime game tomorrow night.........that is until they came out for the second half.  With 10 minutes remaining their lead had been trimmed to 1 and the young Jackets looked like they were buckling under the pressure.  A Kaase tip in with 3 seconds left gave the Tigers a 2 point win in an unbelievable collapse by the Jackets.  Give Sydney credit though, being down 19 with 18 minutes to go they could have thrown in the towel, but once again Coach Smith and the Tigers get it done in the ODAC Tourney.  Prehmus fouled out with 7 minutes to play and the Tigers still got it done.  Jackets will be back next year but what a heartbreaking way to end the season.  I think that may keep the from making it to the dance but we will wait and see.  2 great games again tomorrow.  Wow what a day.

Yellow Jackets Fans,

Turn out the lights. The party is over! Too bad. Make some excuses and we'll see ya next year.
