Man, did I read it correctly?  d3hoops.com picking the Quakers to win the title.

Heck, who needs it.  Pure baloney!  The future doesn't exist.  Neither does the past.
Remember Bridgewater!

I'd rather consider this:

Lifting four Sanborns would be about 1000 pounds, so Calvin Wise must be strong; it sounds like he makes Troy Kaase look like a slight little thing.
I hope this makes the bulletin board at Guilford - I'll provide the push pins!  lol

haha he cant be strong than the two guys from johns hopkins, those guys were built like they were on steroids!!

He isn't bigger than the two JHU guys from last season. I was asked during Hoopsville on Monday by an SMC fan if they had a chance... I said, sure, everyone does. But I will go out on limb to say, if they upset Guilford, that might be the biggest upset in recent tournament history!

I'll be there for both games tonight.  I'm not sure what the crowd will be, but I think it'll be the biggest crowd to ever watch a basketball game in Ragan-Brown.  The count will also be aided by Guilford's relative proximity to Averett (50 miles), but there's a lot of buzz for the Quakers all by themselves.  This team is on a mission!  They're at 16 in a row - it continues to be a great season!

A lot of talk from Wise and the coach if you ask my opinion.  Wise is listed at 6'4 215.  Not really that big.  I think he might need to average more than 12 and 7 before he can really start talking smack about the Guilford big men.  That article has been passed around Guilford athletes and student body the last two days.  I am thinking he might hear about it from the fans come tonight.  Saying that may not have been too wise...pun intended.  Go Quaks!!!

sludge

That coach also said something about the fact that he had an entire team, but all Guilford had was Ben Strong.  So, their team was going to beat the individual.  He really, really shouldn't have said that.  What was he thinking?  It must have been before he watched the tape.

Anyway it is probably irrelevant.  What could be more motivation than one-and-done?

I know I haven't seen as many games as you this season, sludge, but I think I've seen 12 games.  This is one of the most unselfish teams I've seen in a long time ... and I've been following Quaker hoops since my Dad's cousin, the late great David Smith, was an All-American center on the team in the late 60's/early 70's.  I respect St. Mary's, but I think they'll find out tonight that Ben Strong is a great player ... and his teammates are awfully good as well.  The 6th man in the stands WILL have the joint rockin' tonight!  Go Quakers!

GP05

VWC 80  WPI 75

Balenga, Tonton 6/9 FG  5/6 3PT 14/15 FT 31 PTS

I remember that guy; he comes around every March or so.  Congrats to the Marlins and good luck to Guilford tonight.  Let's keep on rollin..

I wouldn't worry about the statements of St. Mary's: Seems like just a lot of empty hot air to mask the reality of their own demise tonight. Some teams tend to do that as defense mechanisms. I know its irrelevant example but i remember watching the videotape of the washington redskins 1991 superbowl season and the part before the atlanta falcons game the tape shows jerry glanville and one of his players blowing some hot air just before they get blown out 56-17. So Guilford should not, SHOULD not have any problems with St. Mary's.

Also, VWC dances another day. 80-75 over WPI

Hopester

Guilford down ten with 13 minutes left.
Its a great day to be a Dutchman!

Guilford has just been upset by St. Mary's (MD) 89-77. Its a sad way for GC's senior's to go out. I was hoping that these two teams would meet again in Salem.

well i guess i stand corrected. I guess St. Mary's confidence found its way to the basketball court tonight. Wha..Happened? Guilford looked and sounded primed and ready to use their ncaa tournament experience from last year to make a run. Alright, with vwc the lone odac team on the dance floor let's get our second wind and make another run to salem. It's interesting how not many people seem to be paying much attention to vwc this year being without adair i guess they expect not much out of them this march. Kind of like it like that. Kind of has 05-06 feel if you know what i mean. don't know how long v'dub can keep dancin' but, we'll see. Balenga shot it well tonight which hopefully is a good sign that Mr. March is in the building but some other guys have got to give solid minutes. Ursinus will not be an easy game. I'm very interested to see how they plan to stop this Shattuck kid who's averaging 22ppg. Maybe Ursinus' lopsided victory over Baptist Bible will give them a false aura of confidence. Some interesting things to note:
-Ursinus has 20 game winning streak, they haven't lost since Dec. 19. (Streaks don't last forever, will it end tomorrow night)
-These two teams could have faced each other in the second round of the 2006 NCAA tournament if they had beaten Farmingdale State.
-VWC's field hockey coach is a graduate of Ursinus. (maybe she'll be faxing macedo some pointers..lol)
-Very early in the season Ursinus played against our own W&L and only won by 5.

Looking forward to a dog fight in PA tomorrow night. Keep it rollin' v'dub.

Single-elimination tourneys are brutal that way.  I had Guilford going all the way in my pick ems, but better teams than them have failed to reach Salem.

[Since I had Guilford over UWW (who also lost tonight) in the semis, my pickems are officially dead on opening night! :(]
