Fair warning to new posters - never underestimate what regulars can ferret out! ;D

(And despite the mere 16 posts under his current name, the former S2H (among other monikers) IS a regular.)

1. RMC - UNANIMOUS
2. HSC - King is back, as well as a senior PG...two solid transfers (a CIAA All-Rookie Pick)
3. VWC - Lost Fantin, TonTon and Tucker...a lot of scoring...Still have Fields
4. BC - Third behind RMC and HSC as far as scoring coming back
5. GC - Still some explosive guards and a 6-10 center
6. EMU - The Dean run-and-gun will fluster young teams...and there are lots of them
7. Noke - Lost a TON, still have Peery
8. LC - Wooldridge is good enough to make them 6 through 8
9. W&L - Bienemann meant too much
10. E&H - Russo needs personnel to play regular ball...i.e. a big man
11. Randolph - Won't be too long until they are challenging for a Salem berth

You could really flip flop HSC and VWC, but I believe that Jonathan Mudd (the Shaw transfer PG) and freshman Josh Johnson (reminds me of Tyler Fantin) gives the Tigers some guys that match up well with the Fish athletically. The Tigers definitely beefed up their athleticism with Mudd, Johnson, and transfer Shane Payne. This will be a new look H-SC team, one whose personnel is more comparible to the early 2000's teams.

I think the best team in the ODAC is VWC they have the top guards in the ODAC. RMC will be competing with them for the number one spot. HSC and EMU are sleeper teams also.

and now we have a VWC player posting. eric johnson http://www.vwc.edu/athletics/mbasketball/roster/johnson.php

I am interested to see how HSC's two transfers will do... although the Tigers did lose Kasse and Prehmus they do return some talented players, so they shouldn't be bad this season...

That being said, I think VWC, with their returners and their incoming freshman, will challenge for the ODAC crown as well. Hopefully they can gain some consistency and the team can quickly gel with the amount of new faces they'll have, but I don't see a drop off from the Marlins anywhere in the forecast.

I think that this season, the ODAC will be as tough as its ever been.

Beware scottharris (aka STH, LCasid, scottietoohottie, S2H).  When it comes to ODAC hoops and computers, I think he knows all and sees all!  :)

I understand in having a bias in your own team and favoring them a little when it comes to pre-season rankings ect. but RMC is hands down the unanimous selection for pre-season #1! Now yes I know they are simply "pre-season" rankings and they mean absolutely nothing, however they lose the least, return the most and thus should and will be the favorites to win the ODAC.  I really don't see any team challenging them for the crown; I don't think Rhodes will let them settle for average this year.
I don't agree with "BC finishing nothing better then 6th" either.  Yes they have a new coach but they also return Oblitey (a very tough match-up at the 3-4 and honorable mention all-odac) as well as in my mind one of the top 3-4 players in the ODAC in Trawick.  I don't see them falling out of the top 4, 5th at worst.  If the transfers at HSC pan out the way that people are saying then I definitely see HSC as a top 3 team in the ODAC.  I see HSC and VWC battling for that #2 spot.  After top 4-5 things start to get a little watered down.

OK I've got to chime in on this one. W&L 2nd to last ??? Yes Bienemann & Kusimo were an outstanding pair; we'll miss them. However, everyone in the conference lost big time talent. The Generals could start 5 seniors - all very experienced with the Zach White and Jason Cimino off the bench. They will be better than expected. Don't get caught up in that old "W&L hoops are terrible mind set". My pick for 1st - RMC.

This is terrific stuff...hands down favorite to win the ODAC this year is RMC. I look forward to following the top tier and watching the others. Baselinejam says W&L will finish up there. Top 5? Maybe. It's going to be exciting.

baselinejam -

I love it! I will be completely honest...I had a TERRIBLE time putting W&L at No. 9 in my picks...but the more I look at it...

...I just don't see them being better than the Top 5 (RMC, HSC/VWC, BC, Guilford).

...EMU has the athletes and toughness to wear down a less athletic team in W&L.

...Lynchburg, in my opinion, has a couple guys the Generals can no longer match up with, especially Wooldridge.

The only team that I can see W&L potentially unseating is Roanoke, who I am not sold on at all at this point based on their roster and what they lost.

I would love to see the Gennies carve a permanant place in the ODAC tourney because I am a fan of Hutchinson and what he has done over the past few years. However, without Bienneman and Kusimo, which guys will produce consistently night in and night out other than Isaiah Goodman?

Just a question, I am not trying to put any team down, but I just love the discussion on the board because it mirrors the great competition on the floor!

I think I said it earlier, if the Generals finish fifth, I will own up and eat my humble pie, baselinejam!

Wow, I was just thinking (as I waste valuable time at work, I'm quite sure)...if you take my picks and bracket out the tourney, look at these awesome first round match ups! Tell me how many conferences are better than the ODAC out there? Can't be many!

No. 1 Randolph-Macon vs. No. 8 Lynchburg

LC has Wooldridge, whereas the 5-spot is the only question mark for R-MC...and you cannot forget the history of this 1-8 duel!

No. 4 Bridgewater vs. No. 5 Guilford

Contrasting styles and also another reminder of a great 7 over 2 upset a couple years ago.

No. 3 Virginia Wesleyan vs. No. 6 Eastern Mennonite

Two high-octane, run-and-gun offenses colliding...remember the 97-92 track meet last year???

No. 2 Hampden-Sydney vs. No. 7 Roanoke

A classic knock-down, drag out affair...oh the physical rivalry!

I guess when someone says they have to run a background check, Scottie is the one they send the papers to.

On this board that would be a moon pie - my advice is to start chilling your RC now. It will make the pie go down easier. ;)
