What other scrimmages/exhibitons games are on deck for ODAC teams??? I know VWC scrimmages Mount Olive College, a D2 school from NC, on Sunday.

The Quakers travel to Belk Arena for a 9 pm game at Davidson Nov. 14.  Oddly, it's an exhibition game for Guilford, but a regular season game for the Wildcats.  I'm just hoping Mr. Curry doesn't put up 50!  Okay, who wants to guard him?!  :)

As was so eloquently stated about Kevin Durant in his lone season as a Longhorn by an ESPN commentator during the NCAA Tournament..."play a box and one on him, with the box on Durant." :) Every player has five fouls to give...keep that in mind! Lol...

My Gennies had a nice scrimmage with Averett over the weekend. I think they're all warmed up & raring to go. They join RC playing Muskigum & Ferrum in Lexington this weekend. Keep your eye on the Generals!

Come on people - 9 games on Saturday & you all are awfully quiet ???

All - It's a rainy, miserable fall day here in Williamsport, Maryland so I thought I'd perk things up a bit by asking Nova for a season beginning pice of verse to get us off on the right foot. Everything starts in earnest pretty soon and I'm looking forward to watching VWC's six All Americans throughout the season. Good luck everyone! ;D

I second the RFP (requst for poetry).

Baslinejam, good to hear about the Gennies looking good at Averett.  Averett is always a good team to play to get a sense of how you're looking early in the season.

And, those six All Americans at VWC are all first team, I think.  Or maybe that's in swimming.

no, oldfish, they are just dissing VWC like they always do. I kiddingly suggested that VWC will put forward 6 All Americans this year and some suggested that we might only have All Americans of the criminal type. I don't know why I keep looking at this board. I think I'll retire.

Now now,  we can't have that.  I enjoy you and Oldfish too much to have you leave the board. 8)

You're not allowed. >:(

Quakers fall at DI Davidson's sold-out Belk Arena (5223) tonight, 107-83.  You always hope to play well in these situations and all in all, I think Guilford did.  GC trailed 56-44 at the break, so they were outscored by 12 in both halves.  I didn't catch all the stats, but Curry had 29 points in 29 minutes for the Wildcats.  The DC announcers were very complimentary of the Quakers - they singled out Sanborn in particular with 11 points and 13 boards.  Also for Guilford, Henson with 21, freshman Gabriel Lowder 15 (he was 5/10 from the floor and 4/6 behind the arc), Bonner 13 and freshman Justin Stafford with 6.

Interesting notes:

Guilford outrebounded Davidson 39-31.
Guilford was 12/23 (52.2%) from behind the arc and 27/52 overall (51.9%).
Davidson was 12/35 (34.3%) from behind the arc and 39/76 overall (51.3%).
Davidson had 25 steals and Guilford committed 39 turnovers - way too many!

Anyway, back to picking on guys our own size!  :)

Am I the only guy who is surprised that Davidson's Stephen Curry hasn't gone pro yet?

That game sounds pretty encouraging for Guilford.  It shows a team with good shooting and rebounding, that needs to work on ball handling.   Hard to guage the defense without watching the game.

Anyway, if Guilford can shoot 50% from behind the arc, we'll win some games no doubt!
