It was clear that guards were "bodying" up Aaron at the end of the year.
Personally I believe that the comments attributed to parents would best not be shared on an internet web site
I find that to be a bit intrusive and I am not sure if the parents know that they will be quoted nor would want that.

Amherst will crush Plymouth.

There is a short 3 plus minutes pre-season video of the team on the website.  Have to go to the u-tube button (whatever it is called) to get to the video.  Contains comments by the coach and Workman on the team.

Midd plays in the Ramapo tourney this weekend. Ramapo is good:

Have to get by Gwynedd Mercy first

Ephs could be without their top FOUR guards tonight from the sound of things in this article:

http://www.thetranscript.com/ci_19362732

Southern Vermont should still be winnable, but the following two games are very tough, even with a healthy squad -- Salem State and Wesleyan.   Sounds like at least a few of the guys will get back soon, but even if they do, hard to imagine how effective they will be without any practice.  Hopefully the Ephs can survive this tough early stretch as guys start getting healthy ... on the plus side, the four Eph newcomers will all get a chance to show what they can do very early on, and guys like Mickens, Mayer and Epley will have to step up into a leadership role on the court.

Boy, tough going for the Williams players.  Really going after each other in scrimmages too.  Now I understand why Coach Hixon was at the Amherst-Williams football game...was interviewed at halftime.  Must have taken the opportunity to watch the BB team workout.
Anyway, some random comments.  Based on another board...Rampo, Midd.'s possible opponent on Sat. in PA, is considered the pre-season favorite for their NJ based league.  Hope to have the match-up to gage Midd.'s team.  With respect to Amherst, hope Amherst gets to play against Wash.& Lee on Sat.(W & L needs to get pass Elms).  W & L is a member of the tough ODAC conference, has already beaten Dickerson on the road and has a coach that is an Amherst grad.  Oh yes, they also have a big man in the middle, I believe.

Looks like NESCAC is headed for a clean sweep of its opening night opponents, if Hamilton can win in its return to the league.  Amherst with a particularly impressive pounding of what is usually a decent Plymouth State squad.

Nice to see Williams get off on the right foot, even against a totally overmatched opponent.  Southern Vermont is VERY small and apparently could not contain the Ephs' big guys.  Wang did not miss a beat coming off his injury and finished with 18 points on only six FGA, including 3-3 from deep.  Mike Mayer seems to be much improved at center and put up 18-9 in limited time.  We'll see how he does against guys who are not half his size, but he may be the best bet to replace a lot of Whittington's inside offense.

A few guys were back from injuries, but were likely a bit rusty.  Seems like Rooke-Ley and Robertson were out, two projected rotation guys.  Robertson is obviously the most important, I'd say the second most important guy on the team.  The Ephs were a totally different team during games he missed last year, and they will need him back soon vs. tougher competition.

A few young guys made nice contributions, John Weinheimer and Daniel Wohl, both very tall perimeter players with excellent skills for their size (Weinheimer more of a slasher, Wohl a shooter).  Surely both will get less time once Rooke-Ley and Robertson return, but either or both could end up as rotation guys this year and look like major contributors down the line.  Sean Hoffmann also seems like a guy who could earn some minutes, though there are a lot of bodies at the five.  Most athletic front court player for sure.

I'm guessing when healthy the Ephs will go with a line-up of Wang, Robertson, Klemm, Epley, Emerson, with Rooke-Ley and Mayer the top two bench guys and Mickens, Weinheimer, Semin, Wohl and Hoffmann battling for the remaining minutes.  Some good players (including some not mentioned) will have to sit the bench.

Amherst 90-PSU 63 or something in that range.  Amherst beats the spread by Walzy.  It was 51-30 Amherst at the half.  Workman led the scoring with 18 with Waller, Barrise, Toomey all in double figures. Kaasilla was near that.  By the middle of the second half the starters were long gone and Amherst's lead went as high as 29 and as low as 19.  Amherst had 16 players in the game and 15 scored points with only FY Levine blanked out.  It was sloppy for awhile.  L. Lewis was impressive in that he had 3-4 steals.  The 1st team conference CB in football comes in with less than a week of practice and plays pg.  Amherst needs to work on their foul shooting...less than 70 percent.  Too many outside shots by the reserves and the 3-pt. percentage went under 50%.
Amherst will meet W&L on Sat.  The Generals has a tendency to fall behind in the second half and make a comeback to win by a few points.....in their two games to date.  W&L's big man had a bunch of rebounds....over 15, I believe.  Will be interesting on Sat.

What did we learn tonight? How deep Williams is.

Nice win for the Cardinals yesterday in their tip off tournament... admittedly against a less than magnificent Bard team.  Regardless of the quality of opponent I noticed a few things that bode well for all fellow fans of the Red Birds.  The Cardinals depth as far as big men does not only exist on paper - Matt Hogan, Matt Callori, and newcomer Chris Tugman all pitched in quality minutes.  These guys, along with the other bodies Wesleyan has will come in handy especially if Thomas continues to rack up the fouls (3 in 14 minutes last night)

Speaking of Matt Callori, thought by some to simply be another player in the Harlan Dodson mold (keeps to long jumpers and easy layups) is showing up with considerable more size to start the season and a willingness to put that size to use, hopefully he continues to prove himself throughout the season.

Finally Haris seems to be doing his best to live up to the hype with 11 points (third amongst Wes scorers) and what I believe might be the first dunk by a Cardinal in over 5 years.  Looking forward to seeing this kid figure out the NESCAC game.

Wesleyan plays against a Curry quad today that game #10 MIT a run for its money earlier this week

Bates won by two (71-69) at home over UMaine-Fort Kent (who knows how good they are). Leading Bobcat scorer was Ed Bogdanovich, a junior, with 18 points (8-17) and 8 rebounds in 24 minutes. He was hurt all of last year and most of his freshman year. I met him  at the Midd-Bates football game. Good looking athlete, 6'7". Frosh guard Graham Safford had 13 points and 8 (!) steals, a school record.

Bowdoin bludgeoned UMaine-Farmington, 72-36. John Swords, their frosh 7-footer, played 19 minutes: 0 points, 4 rebounds, 4 fouls.

Hamilton struggling on offense so far today - 20 points at the half and did not score until about 8 minutes into the game.  Looks like Williams is going down, too.
