I am a RIC alum and this one looks tough for the Anchormen.  Akinrola is slightly larger than listed.  RIC leaves players the same height and weight they were when they entered the program on their site, not sure why.  He has added some muscle and maybe an inch. But I still feel that on the road this is a game the Anchormen will drop.
Would love to see RIC win as this should be their last loss till tourney time, 6 games they should win to end the season after this.
If Amherst can handle 'Rola down low and stay in front of Choice, who seems to struggle in games like this, Amherst wins by 8-10.  If Akinrola can get going who knows.

Thanks for the info.....nescac1.  Playing RIC in LeFrak gives me a little comfort.  Have seen Choice on-line several times this year.  He was up and down....hope he has an off night.  Agree that I think Midd. should handle this away game.  Good test for them away from Pepin.

does that book come in hardcover? Booyakasha

It would sell well in Middlebury.

Middlebury, down by as much as 8 points in the first half, closed to within 3 on several occasions but a basket by the Owls at the buzzer had them down by 5 at 43-38 at the break. Down by 5 early in the 2nd period at 49 to 44 the Panthers chipped away and finally caught Keene State at 57 with 11:12 remaining. They took their first lead of the night an a Joey Kizell 3 pointer at 60-58 with 10:21 to go. Score is now 67-62, Middlebury, with 7:04 left in the game.

Fueled by 2 Jake Wolfin jumpers and 2 more triples from Kizell, the Panthers have opened up a double digit lead at 72-62 with 5:30 to go.

Down to the wire as the Panther are hanging on to a 76-75 lead with 1:24 to go. Panthers have just turned the ball over and Keene State calls time out. Keene State scores out of the TO and Midd turns it over again. Owls return the favor and it's the Panther's ball with 19 seconds left. Another Middlebury turnover and the Panthers foul with 11 seconds to go. Timeout Middlebury. Keene State now calls a time out. Midd has to foul again to get Keene to the line. Owls miss the front end of a 1&1. Mid comes down but Kizell's layup is blocked with 2 seconds to go.  Panthers get the rebound and call another time out to set up a final attempt. Must be a final as livestats has been frozen with 2 seconds to go for 5 minutes.

It is a final 77-76 Keene State wins. Tough loss for Middlebury to come back and gain a 10 point lead and fail to hang onto it. Panthers were led by Joey Kizell with 24 points and Ryan Sharry with 18. Sharry completed a double double with 10 rebounds. Peter Lynch had 7 points and 10 boards.

Keene State placed 4 players in double figures led by Rashad Wright with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Anthony Mariano had 14 points, while Ollie Hunter and Ryan Martin both had 11.

Amherst BEATS RIC by the score of 79-69.....D3hoops presently has the score reversed.  They also have Keene by 1  with 11 seconds to go.

And down goes Middlebury. 77-76 to KSC.

Keene won the game on the Off. Boards.

Some telling stats in the M'bury/Keene box score.  Keene was only 13-26 from the line.  The game might not have been as close had they made 6-7 more of those shots. Keene shot fairly well (42%) from the floor but took an amazing18 more shots than Middlebury, a huge differential, and also had 11 more offensive rebounds. If you give yourself that many offensive opportunities good things usually happen.

Hats off to Tufts for coming back after nearly handing UMass Dartmouth the game with some dumb backcourt turnovers and fouls late in regulation. Freshman Ben Ferris was clutch for Tufts in overtime.

The NESCAC and the Little East should have a challenge night like this every year!  Some very exciting basketball by some evenly matched teams.  Should make for a wide-open opening couple of rounds of the NCAA tournament

While awaiting the Midd. score.....the D3hoops site made a correction.  Looked at the stats of the Midd/Keene game and could not figure out why Midd was behind.  Midd. had much better foul shooting, overall higher shooting percentage, and 3-point shooting.  The rebounds were about even.  Keene took more shots and hit enough to win.  The turnovers by Midd. gave Keene more shots...it appears.
Back to the Amherst game......Amherst got behind by 14-16 points in the first half by fine shooting from the RIC bench.  Akinrola picked up 2-fouls in the first half and was taken out.  His replacement proved more effective on the boards.  Choice was a non factor in the first half  with 3 fouls.  It was RIC by 3 at the half.  Amherst came back in the second half by controlling the boards  and playing tough defense.  Carter of RIC seemed to be carrying the team with his drives and shooting.  Choice enters and starts to drive and getting fouled...making his points from the foul line.
Barrise became the leading 3-point shooter in Amherst MBB...making three.  Workman was controlling the boards and Pete Kaasilla as well as Holmes started to block shots and score points....and Amherst took control...lead by Toomey with over 20 plus points.  Oh yes, Amherst led for most of the 2nd half...between 4-10 pus points.  RIC was putting in an offensive team, then a defensive team...going zone traps the whole court...and full court press....all in the last 5-6 minutes to try to get back in the game.
One strange ref call in the last minute.  Amherst makes a steal and moves up to the offensive half and a whistle is called.  The game is stopped because of an "injured" player...Choice had hit his head on the floor and was holding his head.  Amherst is made to take the ball out again.....but Choice is allowed to stay on the floor and still holding his head...telling the refs that he is ok.

Midd had 22 turnovers and were doubled up on the offensive boards.  Obvious who came to play and who didn't.  So tough to get a team emotionally ready to play in two days after a big conference win against a rival.  This loss will make the Panthers better (and take some pressure off) as they head into the games that matter.

Congrats to Keene. Tough loss, but this group should be able to bounce back. Time will tell.

Yeah. One of the schools was posting the score backwards. I reversed it three times in the second half. Just remember that everyone has access to post scores, not just "D3hoops."

Hats off to Keene.  No gloating when you win and no excuses when you lose.  Midd has their biggest games in front of them not behind them.  If they take care of the basketball better than they did tonight, they should be able to bounce back starting this weekend.
