Since the Amherst teams are preparing for their games tonight, I had some time to surf the web last night to look at some "CAC" games on tap and maybe other games of interest.  Here are the results of my efforts.
Went to the early start game of Hamilton vs. Rochester.  Was impressed with the Rochester team coached by a former Amherst assistant.  Hamilton was not in the game...at home...from the start.  It maybe a lo..ong season for Hamilton.  Did not see Lin in the game....but only watched for a short time.  Rochester could be a "gate keeper" in the NCAA.
Tried several times to get to the Wes.vs WNEC game but kept getting the Wash.& Lee site!....I know, I'm not too tech savy.
Went several times to the Williams' site and could not get on.  Finally there was a note that stated the game would be shown 5-10 minutes after the start of the event!  Changed game site.
Spent some time watching the F & M game against rival Gettysburg.   It was a video feed in HD....maybe that is what Wes. has....with...get this...REPLAY capacity.  It seems to be a school production vice some outside group.  Anyway, it was F & M that knocked out Amherst in the quarter-finals and they are presently ranked 9th.  They have their two big front line players back...one a scorer and the other a rebounder.  More impressed with the shorter Gettysburg team that had the game tied at the half at 31 to 31, I believe.  Gettysburg was playing a zone defense and it gave the F & M players trouble.  The game was very close even towards the end of the game....still do not know the outcome of the game.  Went back to try the Williams website again.
Finally got the video feed of the game....it was poor, IMHO....though the announcers are good and at times somewhat bias.  Did not watch the game when it became clear that it would become a blow-out.  Did see Hoffman miss a dunk and make a two handed dunk over someone.  Do not think he will be able to do that against Amherst anytime soon.  Went back to the F & M game.
Have to relate a story here after my experience with the chaotic video feed from Williams.
Several years ago at the Amherst graduation event, the newly installed Williams President was there to accept a honorary degree from Amherst.  Other than the Amherst President (Marx at the time), there are no other speakers except for a graduating senior.  The senior spoke to the audience and remarked that parts of his speech may bother some Williams people if it found its way to the internet.  His concerns arose while writing his speech....but then remember that the internet has NOT reached Williams college yet.
The audience including both college presidents laughed and smiled.
It seems that getting the internet to Williams is still a work in progress... :)

Should be an interesting game tonight as Bowdoin travels to Bates.  The teams seem to be on different trajectories.  Bowdoin stumbled out of the gate losing 2 of their first 3 games.  However, they put together impressive back-to-back wins in the last week.  Bates on the other hand, won its first 2 games only to loose 4 of their next 5 including a 6 point loss to Southern Maine - a team Bowdoin beat handily.

I think Wesleyan was playing Westfield State, not WNEC.

amh63 - Strong words coming from a program that calls its streaming channels Jeffcast.  I think it's time to move away from the silly monikers, it's not 1992 and this is not Wayne's World.   ;D

Maineman.....thanks for the correction.  Whatever....it was the D3hoops schedule section spot...just before the W & L game.  First time, I thought I hit the wrong line....the second time, I carefully hit the proper line and still got the broadcast company video site and looked for the proper broadcast line.....and still could not find the button to hit.   Did see that the broadcast vender is used by the Colby program.

Madz.....like some of Frank U.'s posts, your latest post is much to clever for me.  Do not know Wayne's world...should I?  The only important thing to me that I remember about 1992 was my oldest son's Amherst graduation.
Based on nescac 1 write-up, sorry that I missed your relative's play.

Madzillagd, first year as a Williams fan, and already laying the smack down, I like it!  It remains a mystery to me how a school as politically correct as Amherst is has not managed to disassociate itself from a mascot which (a) to begin with, is a lame, creepy old Colonial dude not really worth preserving for any emotional or aesthetic reason, (b) reinforces the worst stereotypes about Amherst (the whole LORD JEFF thing, a bit pretentious), and (c) most importantly, is most closely associated with delivering smallpox-infected blankets to Native Americans.  Especially in a conference full of fun, quirky mascots like Purple Cows, Camels, Polar Bears, and Elephants.

Some more info from last night games observed from the web.
Luke Frockezi's U. of Rochester team blew out Hamilton by 20 and is currently ranked 11th.  Luke was a top recruiter for Amherst and seems to have a nice talented team with size up front and experienced backcourt players.  Looking down the road a bit, Rochester could be a NCAA regional site like it was only a few years ago....when Middlebury was sent there to play.
Franklin & Marshall won its game at home against Gettyburg 54-51 with a 3-point shot with 19 seconds to go.  It seems their website now has them ranked 8th vice my previously posted 9th.  Amherst last year was ranked ahead of them by the NCAA but was sent down to PA. due to the Amherst's women's team hosting the regional NCAA games.  Again, it is possible that F & M could be a regional site host again.
I know, it is a bit of a stretch at this time of the year.....still if the "CAC" schools finish strong there could be up to 3 teams going to regional sites from the NESCAC.

I was at the Hamilton/Rochester "game".  I think the NESCAC is safe.

SECOND HALF LINE:

Amherst -11 Babson (ie. Amherst -3) for the game.
Halftime score Babson 37 - Amherst 29

walzy31

Wow, Babson shooting the lights out from 3. Lots of step back looks and end of the shot clock buckets. 12-20 3pt-fga up 16 with 6 to play.

pick and roll

Fat Lady getting ready to sing - what is up with Amherst! A home loss to Babson.  Tough game game for some of the key players like Toomey and Workman.

Babson 78 - Amherst 70 Final

Both teams shoot well from the line but Babson's 3pt shooting too much (12-22). Amherst just 6-25 from deep.
Toomey finishes with 12pt, 9reb, and 4ast to land at 996 career points going into Brandeis. Workman with 3 big blocks.

First loss in LeFrak since the 2009-2010 season. I thought the Brandeis game would be the tough one this week. Now it becomes a must win and Amherst is in a tough spot heading into it.

NEWMAC is 7-2 against CAC this year.  Looks like someone needs to get some respect in the region and the polls!  WPI beats RIC.
