It could be worse - the WIAC women's board endured 36 hours of rants about a Pepsi sign that wasn't covered up at the UWW sectional!  (Turns out, after all that, it wasn't even a violation of NCAA rules like the ranter claimed! ::))

I prefer Coke because I find Pepsi to be a little too fratty for my taste.

I think the NESCAC women's boards would take 36 hours of posts about anything.

To amh63:

Robert Frost, the American poet and teacher at Amherst said, "Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence."

Sorry for you that Pat Coleman's post "... has ruined my entire day...." and "...I will frankly state got mad."

To Walzy31:

"...and I do not like Williams as a college...." Perhaps the root cause is never winning a soccer game against Williams in your four years as a player. Glad to know that since we disagree about liking Williams College (and many other fine institutions), that you're still learning.

Consider letting it go; life is too short and you'll be happier.

To those who are tired of this topic, I invite you to watch this video which makes me laugh every time I see it.

To those who are not tired of this topic, you can read my differing perspective on the performance of the Williams Athletic Department's media efforts this weekend.

Despite your correspondent's being parsimonious with praise, let it be known that Dick Quinn is a gem. P.S. Please do not bring this post to his attention. His knowledge of it might upset the balance in our relationship.

A Pepsi sign???

One of the NCAA's corporate sponsors is Coca Cola.  The ranter was convinced that not 'shrouding' the Pepsi sign was an NCAA hosting violation, and UWW should be severely sanctioned. ::)

Did that chant actually happen? Could someone who was there comment?

Yes, it did, to clear up this question... here is some evidence (a tweet from Feb. 24): https://twitter.com/MiddPantherBlog/status/305744022851440641

I've always favored Coca Cola over Pepsi myself, but it's going to take Moxie for Middlebury, Amherst and Williams to continue on to the Final Four. ;)

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has done some basketball broadcasting on radio or tv.  The first thing I did in preparation for a game was to talk to a coach from the other team to get information on players, ESPECIALLY correct pronunciation of players' names.  There are mothers watching and listening.
At one NESCAC game the announcers continued to call Joey Kizel, 'Kizzle,' after being corrected by a parent that it was actually 'Ky-zell'.  Is that being playful or disrespectful?
We may have disagreement on that, here.   Hopefully not, however.
With luck,  we can get back to discussing, Randolph Macon, VA Wesleyan and Ithaca today.  That other horse is close to dead.

WPI89

Was waiting for you guys to get back around to basketball before I stuck my nose in.....but since that does not seem to be happening..............

At the risk of sounding like a sore loser and also of offending a couple of classy Randolph Macon posters over on the NEWMAC last week, I do not see any issues for Amherst this weekend.  I am trying hard to "identify" R-M's personality or strong points - albeit only watching them one time - and I can't find it (them).

They had a couple of post players that shot tremendously but they were all mostly layups (maybe that is it - maybe their coaching - because I had not seen WPI give up easy hoops all year long)?

WPI had their second worst shooting night of the year and just could not get anything going.  From my perspective, they were missing relatively open shots.  It wasn't a matter of being forced into 3's -they were getting them early in the possession and taking them (that is what they do) - and missing them (not what they usually do).

I think the most likely scenario is that Amherst creeps out by 10 midway through the first and stays there if not extends, the whole way.

If only Massey translated to Vegas - I would take a special trip out just to get in on the Amherst -2 line.  Of course, I have never left Vegas with more money that I arrived with in my life - so what do I know  :)

middhoops

Agree WPI89, Amherst is likely to handle R-M more easily than Massey's computer indicates.  The LJs just have too many weapons.  Unless you can foul out their starters, it's too steep a hill to climb for just about anyone now that they're healthy again.

Jumpshot...would like a referral to your Frost quote...have a collection of his writings.  Met him and heard him on occasions when he was on campus.  Robert Frost was a follower of Amherst sports, like a number of teachers.  Like Old Guy, he enjoyed baseball.  It is told that he would be seen in the stands chatting with other profs while watching games.  There is a statue now on campus positioned so that his figure seems to be looking down Memorial Hill at the baseball field and also facing the Frost Library.  Thanks for the memory.

For those interested, the Amherst website has posted a preview of the RMC vs. Amherst game.
Would be interested to hear from the RMC postor on the preview and to know if the RMC announcers go to all the away games.

Some more loose ends before moving on.
It should be pointed out that the Amherst announcers openly ask any listeners to call/tweet in on their announcing and in one of the women games made a name correction from a parent and thanked the parent.
IT is also of interest that a WILLIAMS student section chant in a CAC  final is referenced by Pat C. to support his position.  Would not take that to any court.
It seems that some body is playing with my Karma points.  Would like to know who.  Would not  want to presume here that some posted critic is  unable to take criticism.   Man up now.

Gotta love defending a rival only to be taunted by them. Yeah no doubt my 0-3 record against Williams is part of my dislike. I could write a thesis about what I don't like about Williams College and that would be chapter three or chapter four out of twenty.

I think it's healthy to have a rival in life. Go tell some Michigan fans to get over Ohio St or UNC fans to get over Duke. Hope/Calvin, Red Sox/Yankees etc. If they agree to dropping their dislike then so will I. Til then, Wuck 'em
