Ronk....nice to find out that you are a "local" poster.  Yes, remember a local Wash Post article about a BB HS game in McLean Va.  Jim's High school  team, Langley HS (provider of many students to the conference schools), was playing.  One of the refs remarked that it was quite a shock....when turning to see who was making loud remarks about his abilities from the stands, to see a Chief Justice.  Jim's father was a tall fellow, like Jim...around 6' 4-5".

And that ref was Ted Sorenson, the Solicitor-General, who argued cases before the Supreme Court. :) Just kidding!
I look for prospects now for my alma mater and it's a fruitful area for the combo of bball and academics, but wasn't doing it when Jim played-just a fan, then.

frank uible

Unjudicial behaviour.

Panthernation.....again, thanks for fine report and thanks for saving "paper" on this board.  Has anyone notice that the conference board is closing in FAST on 1000 pages.  Guess we all want to make the 1000 "P" club.

2,600 words didn't fit in one post.

Old Guy

His father was James Rhenquist. Supreme Court Chief Justice.

That would be William Rehnquist (how soon they forget)

dman

Vandy74.....thanks for providing the class of your late brother.  There was quite a player at Amherst at the time....Jim Rhenquist'77...who was a team mate of Coach Hixon'75 even....still holds many Amherst scoring records.  He is the father of the Williams WBB player Grace.

amh63,
I remember my brother talking about Jim Rehnquist.  He used to joke about how liberal the son's politics were compared to the father's.  Rehnquist was a scoring machine.  Over 1500 points I believe.

dman.....I believe you are correct....just remember it was a Div2 school and had a "Saint" in its name....is it closer to Amherst and in VT?
Old Guy....thanks for correcting my spelling of the name.....e before the h.  My bad as they say.
Vandy 74.....yes he was.  Had a 690 something single season scoring effort....still a record.  Holds the record for scoring average of around 24 points.....too lazy to check.  In the record books on the Amherst BB website though.

Kudos to the Amherst announcers.  Early in the game they are 100% more objective and 90% less irritating than previous broadcasts.  Amherst is up 22-9 early and looking comfortable (69% shooting).

What was most amazing about Jimmy's scoring record back then was we had a freshman team, so he only played three years on Varsity. Additionally Jimmy had a terrific shot and at that point in time there was no three point shots

RMC looks totally outclassed.  Amherst firing on all cylinders and RMC seems to be playing virtually no defense, contrary to their reputation.  RMC doesn't have a lot of guys with scoring touch, in accord with their reputation.  This one is already over ... Amherst is headed to Salem.   Midd's up next.

magicman

Amherst marches on as they defeat Randolph-Macon 93-76

Andre Simon led Randy-Mac with 20
Lamar Giggetts with 18
Connor Sullivan with 16
Marcus Badger had 10
