Quick stat.
Williams (0) and Bowdoin (3) combined for a total of 3 bench points in their game last night.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I wonder how badly Eph fans are missing Hayden Rooke-Ley today.
No I don't.

Anyone know what's going on with the Amherst-Bates game? Supposed to be a 3pm tip, but the NSN website now seems to indicate that there is now a 7pm start. Very frustrating.

Anyone able to watch the Tufts-Trinity game at Trinity? It is asking for a password to watch

At the half Bowdoin leads Hamilton 51-33

Only caught the last few seconds of the webcast but a nice start for the P'bears. Hopefully they can keep their foot on the gas in the second half.

I saw that mistake on Amherst website- Now changed
Amherst leads Bates 45 to 30 at halftime

Amherst played much better- hopefully can keep it going

Tufts shot lights out last night, they have two excellent big men but their guards were really on Lapham and Tarik Smit

Bowdoin's defeats Hamilton 89-74.

Bowdoin started the second half strong with an 11-0 run. Hamilton made a run behind some very hot shooting by Pittman who hit 5 threes in the second half (by my count).  While that was excellent shooting it was also aided by weak defense as Bowdoin allowed Pittmn fairly open looks from the exact same spot each time.

Still a very nice win and a complete game by the P'bears.  Special shout out to Lucas Hausmann who was 17 for 17 from the charity stripe today.  Think he finished with 28 or so points.

Great bounce back win for Amherst. Bates just could not buy a three pointer in the second half.  Very nice, balanced effort from the Jeffs.

Anyway, glad this young team could put last night's debacle behind them in such fine style.

Another incredible win for Tufts over Trinity this afternoon. WOW is all I can say. 3-0 in league play. The Jumbos won 59-55, for their 2nd game on the road this weekend... definitely feels nice. Unfortunately was not able to stream the video, but did keep up with the live stats during the game. Another congrats to the Jumbos for what seems to have been a great performance.

Good win for Williams beating previously 3-0 Colby on the road.  Unfortunately, Colby did not webcast the game; really frustrating.  Mike Greenman's big second half sseemed to be the key for the Ephs, as he scored 14 in the half, including 3-4 from deep, finishing with 16 points, 3 assists, and only two turnovers.  I guess that extra shooting practice paid off!   Daniel Wohl bounced back with a big game .. 19 points, 8 boards, 6 assists.  Ephs got nice contributions from frosh Galvin and Teal, who combined for 14 points and 7 boards, shooting 5-7 from the field.  On the one hand, the Ephs must be frustrated being 2-2, when they had the Trinity game in hand if they could have just hit a free throw, and when they didn't really bring their A effort (especially on defense) until late in the Bowdoin game, and still nearly pulled it off.  On the other hand, they can be pretty happy being 2-2 against four strong conference opponents, playing without one of their two main cogs.  I hope Hayden is back for the big game Wednesday in Lefrak, and even if not, I imagine he will be back for the rest of the conference schedule.  And all of these minutes should really help Teal and Galvin going forward, and maybe with Sime also playing well, the Ephs will have a bit of the bench production that was totally missing in the early part of the season.

Speaking of Sime, he was back for the Ephs, after missing the Bowdoin game, which was good to see, and made solid contributions off the bench.  I'd still like to see Lewis Hayes get some more minutes going forward, to give a bit more size and strength up front.  Not sure if Ed Flynn is hurt, or just out of the rotation ...

Jumbos are contenders , not pretenders for sure after two big away wins this weekend. Todays Win was a tougher game as Jumbos fell behind by 10-12 points early, but got their legs back and battled back.  Bantoms missed a bunch of makeable shots to keep the game close through out, though Tufts defense in second half picked up with intencity. Coach Shelton seems to have found the Right rotations at the right time, as he goes deep in bench with minutes and play time. Takes a page out of Dean Smiths book, in subbing 5 at a time for a few minute run , with high intencity.  Gives Towers a blow and keep Foul Problems to minimum.  Will be quite a year in Nescac and many exciting outcomes ahead for conf.

A good weekend for Bowdoin with two solid wins, although their habit of jumping out to a great start only to take the foot off the accelerator in the second half is of concern-perhaps a product of a short roster.  Even more of a concern is the remaining conference schedule: away with Colby, Amherst and Trinity and home against Bates, Tufts, and Middlebury; any wins are going to be difficult to come by.

JEFFFAN

If ever there was a "must win" game, the Amherst win over Bates might have been it for the Jeffs.  Falling to 1-3 in the NESCAC with two home losses would have been a graveyard.   They looked much more comfortable on Saturday but facing facts, they have not remotely found the point guard yet.  It is by far the biggest hole in the lineup and one needs to be filled quickly if they want to be playing meaningful games in March.

Midd hung on at home today to beat Ct College, 63-59. As fluid and unstoppable as the Panthers were on Friday night against Wes - this was a slog. Midd was up eight at the half and 15 in the second half with about eight minutes to go, but the Camels continued to play hard and Midd couldn't hit its outside shots or finish at the hoop, and the last two minutes had that nightmarish quality of a game slipping away.

The Panthers just couldn't find any rhythm, and there was a lid on the hoop. Dylan Sinnickson had his first subpar game (7 points, 9 rebounds), but he did hit two free throws with four seconds left to give the Panthers its decisive margin. Jake Brown was flawless against the Cardinals (14 assists no turnovers), but had six TOs today (with five assists). Panthers had 17 turnovers today.

Credit the Cardinals: they came in the VT and played hard for 40 minutes. I thought they might try to take the air out of the ball, but they didn't; they came right at us, with defensive pressure, and a willingness to run. Yuri Pavlin (a soph) plays with a lot of energy and is fast and springy: 15 rebounds (five offensive). Bruiser Isaiah Robinson, a frosh, was also effective (nine rebounds, four offensive) - CT had 18 offensive rebounds.

As much as I know about coaching, I think Coach Satran had his team well-prepared and playing hard. He's a little too active on the sidelines (coaching box?) for my taste - and his attire more casual than most hoop coaches (polo shirt, khakis) - looked he dressed for practice (no great sin, I guess). His timeouts seemed well-timed, he confused Midd by changing defenses, and as I said, his team played hard, could have easily folded when Midd went up big late. It was scary when Sinnickson went to the line with Midd up by only two, 61-59.

Scary too, with 20 seconds to go in the game, was when St. Amour went down and writhed on the floor with a leg injury. Deja vu, we all feared. He was helped off the floor unable to weight his leg. Turns out it's his ankle not his surgically repaired knee. Let's hope it's not debilitating - he's worked so hard to get back on the floor.

Shout out to Bryan Jones who came off the bench this weekend to provide some instant offense in the backcourt in limited minutes, both going to the basket and hitting from the arc: six points with two 3s in eight minutes against Wes; 11 points on 4-5 shooting, one 3, in nine minutes against the Camels. For the weekend: 6-9 fg, 3-3 from three, one TO - 17 points in 17 minutes.

Sorry. Meant the Camels. Must proofread better.
