Time for my annual congratulations note. I continue to be in awe of all things NESCAC.  Congratulations on your usual, yet no less spectacular, success.

Now that Groundhogs day WPI has had another rough first round, I throw my allegiance to all NE teams. This year I have special rooting interest in Keene State and of course Babson. But I hope the final 8 and beyond are filled with your teams as well. Good luck.

Congrats to Middlebury on a great season!

Congrats also to Amherst and good luck the rest of the way.

According to Tufts' Twitter account, the Jumbos will play host this weekend.  Oswego State, Benedictine, and Augustana will serve as the other sectional hosts.

warriorcat,
You stated on the LEC board that the Oswego State website said they were hosting. I couldn't find that anywhere. Could you post a link or tell me what page, please?

Edit:  I see it's posted on their schedule page. I was looking for a news release. Never mind. :D

On the D3hoops website, the sectionals are given.  Since Amherst's women has priority, the higher sectional ranked Amherst men team has the pleasure to go to Tufts who is hosting the sectional.  Tufts' women shipped elsewhere.  Possibility, the two Nescac teams will meet again for the chance to go to the Final 4.

Dave 'd-mac' McHugh

It may have been one of the best weekends of the Division III basketball tournaments in recent history. Upsets, close finishes, buzzer beaters, and more. Survive and advance hasn't fit better as a description than after the first two rounds of this year's championships.

Tonight, Dave McHugh recaps it all on Hoopsville tonight. From those who surprised to those who survived. Even the favorites had their moments. Dave will talk to many who are not only still playing, but get a chance to host next weekend and hope it helps them get to the final four.

Hoopsville hits the air at 7pm ET here: http://www.d3hoops.com/hoopsville/archives/2015-16/mar6

Guests include (in order of apperance):
- Brian Sortino, Oswego State junior guard
- Jason Leone, Oswego State men's coach
- John Tauer, No. 8 St. Thomas men's coach (Pat Coleman interview)
- Trevor Woodruff, No. 3 Scranton women's coach
- Megan Haughey, Stevens women's coach

Does anybody know the extent of Tufts' Vincent Pace's injury and if he has a chance to play this weekend?

amh63

Magicman....that news is as quiet as the info on Babson's star Player.  Flannery's status is key wrt to Amherst's chances it seems....according to Hoopsville tonight.  Seems that he was missing in the last Babson's game...after twisting his ankle twice in the Friday's game.  Yes the availability of Pace improves the outlook of Tufts against J&W.
At this time of the season, depth, team work, coaching as well as magic dust...and defense goes a long way :).

For those interested in a short video interview after the Amherst win on Saturday, here it is:

I searched high and low to find the same for Tufts but could not find it on the Tufts site nor the NCAA Championship Central site.  If anyone could find that, please post.

I was at Catholic and the only media member there, so none of the "press conferences" were filmed.  It's probably something Amherst does or perhaps those schools that have regular TV coverage.

It is too bad that there are not more interviews taped.   Given that it is D3 and that most of these coaches will say nothing (if you want to see a coach say nothing, Google the interview of the Yale coach after they clinched the Ivies the other day talking about the player who "withdrew" from the school mid-season - classic!), it would still be interesting to hear the coaches talk a bit about their strategies and what worked and did not work.

JEFFFAN.....nice find!  Got to see the interviews of Cortland and WPI and Husson...maybe an effort by the Amherst SID.  Got to see the Amherst WBB win  over Tufts in Medford...highlight film.
Maybe a little over analyses here, but.......after JMac made this TWO foul shots, there was a timeout...media?...a coach?  Enough time on the clock for Tufts to take a last shot with no rush.
Amherst had 2 or three fouls to give and took them....leaving Tufts only a short time to get a shot off!
I thought that was a very good plan by the Amherst coaching staff....one that helped get the win.
I also was surprised to see the small number of fouls by both teams in the game and in the second half.  Any thoughts on why?  Refs allowing the players to play.....or both coaches telling their players not to lose the game on the foul line before the game?

amh63

As expected,Amherst gets the first game on Friday....5:30pm start.  Tufts, the host gets the 7:30pm start.
Oh forgot....plus K to you JEFFFAN for the link that got me the highlights of the Amherst WBB win.
