P.S. I recall your watching in horror as the plague lost by 29 to the EPHS in Salem, as well as other losses to Williams in NCAA Tournament play, so it's not always been magical....

Is the plague one of the official mascot options?

Shouldn't there be an adjective modifying Plague? Such as Bubonic or Black?

Oh man, can we start calling them the "Bubs," but with the long u from Bubonic?

I would think you'd have to go with Purple Plague.

JEFFFAN

On behalf of the other Amherst fans and alumni on this site, we hereby request that our alma mater continue to be known as the Jeffs until another mascot is named.   And even after that please continue to refer to them as the Jeffs since none of us wanted the mascot changed in the first place!

Agree with jumpshot.   This team goes nowhere with a point guard with those stats ...

Somehow I think the women's teams (at least) would object to being called "The Boobs". :o ;D

I object to anything referring to Purple until they make themselves eligible for the Stagg Bowl! ;)

I think the color is a dead give away... and has already helped them win basketball titles. ;)

Pretty sure an IWU guy can't talk about the Stagg Bowl. :)

But I already did! :D

I admit, we've never been very close.  But we've been closer than Amherst! ;)

A slickly-produced highlight video of the Eastern Conn - Amherst game.  Seeing Eastern Conn's highlights, it's amazing (at least in the highlight video) how many VERY difficult, heavily-contested shots they made.  It's not like Amherst was giving them a plethora of easy looks.  While Amherst certainly has some issues to figure out, sometimes, you just have to give an opponent credit for making a slew of tremendous plays:

I think Amh63 and others may have overreacted a bit here as we have not even shot a ball in league play.  Too much is made of the games before the NESCAC gets going.  I think they are important to see what you have and nobody wants to lay an egg and drop too much in the national picture, but ultimately everything points to league play.  I will say I disagree with nescac1 on his take of "heavily contested shots".  We can agree to disagree but for me, at least in these highlights, the intensity of the Amherst D was not their best.  I see the league as loaded this year with the big three of a few years back perhaps a thing of the past.  In any case, that's why we play the games.  The fun starts this weekend, let's see what happens.

This is really random, but this utterly bizarre story heavily featuring former Eph benchwarmer / current attorney and stand-up comic J.L. Cauvin is a fascinating read:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2017/01/05/the-media-s-favorite-millennial-is-a-55-year-old-comedian.html

J.L. was more memorable for his comedy than his hoops acumen, but he did have at least one memorable on-court moment during his time at Williams:

Several comments for this board.
Yes, ECSU personnel does produce fine results both on the floor and with video.
Thanks JEFFFAN for your thoughts on the matter of the Mascot.  Plus K to you.  This crowd is a tough audience at times.
Watched a bit of D3 BB last night in the lull before the start of CAC play.  Tufts game had no video...students out?  Watched a bit of the Babson vs Emerson game....first half only.  Emerson had a lead for most of the first half even with BABSON playing its starters.
Watched a bit of the Williams WBB game...Amherst plays them in LeFrak on Friday.  More surprised that the seating arrangement of the teams has been changed...on the student side opposite of the camera view.
Maybe switching games on Friday since the Williams vs Amherst games are at the same time.
Oh, forgot...the Amherst game played away...is the conference counting one.
In line with grabtherim's post...last season Amherst blew out Wesleyan in the game that counted in the standings, only to be blown out in the game by the Cardinals in the one that did not count.
