A Friday night in late January with no NESCAC games?
Coming to grips with having what some naive non-D3 hoops lovers might call, no life.
Must bend my standards and join amh63 watching the D1 stuff on ESPN, I guess.

Midhoops....you bet! :). Had similar thoughts...since there are few good D1 games on Friday.  Some interesting UAA games.   However the good ones want to charge for the show.  We are blessed in that regard in the Nescac.
Do read books, my friend! :). Hardcover ones only.

Looks like I will be watching the Amherst vs Middlebury battle...hopefully for the chance to host the Tourny....online in Florida.  Better not be the day my sister in law has me attending an expensive garden event :'(

QuoteDads can be forgiven their excesses, but transparency dictates that paternity be acknowledged on this board.

Well, ok, guilty.

Well, I think I misspoke: transparency suggests that paternity be acknowledged. No one should dictate on this board.

No games tonight but great match-ups tomorrow!

Speaking of paternity, I think Will Hanley's father sent us the link to this article on the former Polar Bear:

Thanks! Great stuff. Good players.

not definite but a colleague of mine indicated that Palleschi's injury may not be as serious as initially thought

Midd Alumni Hoop Weekend: alumni game this morning went into two overtimes before the Wolfin-Sharry five won it. Some wonderful basketball, outstanding players from those great recent teams - Joey Kizel, Nolan Thompson, Jamal Davis, Jack Roberts, others.

Jim Keyes '70 at 6'4" said he never imagined being in a Middlebury team picture where the big guys were instructed to be in the back and he didn't know where to go.

Andrew Locke wasn't there, but Jake Wolfin said he would be visiting with him in Kenya this spring. Andrew is doing micro-economic work in Africa. He is a peripatetic soul, international in impulse. At 6'10, 6'11' he certainly must stand out. I think we will be reading about him doing significant work for others in the world.

Must go now watch the Panthers-Continentals grapple. With a track meet (multiple teams), swim meet (again, lots of competitors), a women's hockey game, and the hoop, it's a sports circus under one roof at Midd. Wish my dad, the most fervent believer in sports as good for kids I ever knew, could see it. He'd think he'd died and gone to heaven. Pretty close.

One has to admit that this season is one of the most interesting NESCAC hoops seasons in a very long time.   The rise of schools like Bates (beating Tufts at halftime) and Hamilton (okay, off day today) make every score interesting to check out.

Got No Problem admitting I was wrong....  Middlebury opened a can of whoop ass from the outset....

Family illness unfortunately had me miss this who-hah in person...

I will let Bucket grade the rest of my predictions.....at least I'm enjoying the ride...

Middlebury won by 33. My guy Larry Bird...My number.

Folger vs. Gilmour...mano et mano mid 2nd half.   Gilmour got a late and 1 and a putback off a Folger block... but Folger blocked him twice and his defense caused Gilmour to want to pass the ball at a time Hamilton needed some offense to get lead into low teens. Great to see Gilmour give Folger an extra shoulder embrace during post-game handshake.  Two fine young men..they get it.

For the others....oh yeah..bullets in gun...127 points..  but starters rested a lot ....but those starters... 1 for 22 in first half today from 3.  Gar-bage time made it palatable in the box score.  Hamilton hit 6 straight 3 pointers at end.

But you know the point totals in box score tell the whole tale of all these games... if only those lazy generalists could actually watch a game. If you watch games...you actually see rather than regurgitate.

I wanted to see Tufts with a big win on road......double digit loss at Bates...

As cold as Midd was against Williams they were that hot against a talented but over matched Hamilton Squad.  Here's to the benefits of the extra pass.  Very happy for Bryan Jones who had a career game in front of many past teammates.  And his current teammates couldn't have been more excited!

Don't think Hamilton was "off." Midd just put the boots to 'em from the opening tap to the final whistle. In front of the alums from the glory years. Big crowd, really into it. Electric atmosphere. Panthers played . . . great!

ContinentalDomer - were you there? Were the Continentals off, or Middlebury ON?

Marcus Delpeche had his way today (28 points, 11 rebounds) against a Palleschi-less Tufts team that really needed Palleschi. Marcus was simply unstoppable as Bates built a lead as high as 18 points in the second half. Ice cold shooting from long range kept the Jumbos from getting the deficit under nine points as they tried to dig out of the hole.

It was a big win for the Bobcats after being on the wrong end of the score in two home games last weekend. A win against a full-strength Tufts team might have been more difficult, but you play them as they come and hope for the best. This win goes a long way toward helping to get the Bobcats into the post season. Next stop: Amherst.

Middlebury ran them out of the gym - early.  Time to re-group.  Learning to win road games begins when the visitors play with force early, find their sea legs and withstand the home team's adrenaline, energy, intensity, etc. Ham did not move the ball as they usually do. As the Midd lead increased, Ham was less comfortable with every possession. I think Ham was surprised by Midd's ability to push pace.  Of course, with Midd shooting 62% from the field or whatever it was, the rout was sealed. #2 for Midd was unconscious from everywhere.

On to Maine.
