Assuming he is in line to replace Hixon, and Hixon is not planning on leaving in the next year or two, which none of know one way or the other on either to be fact or fiction, wouldn't he be a better candidate with some head coaching experience?

Agreed on all points.

Greek Tragedy:

Are you kidding? 36 points in one game, not a week! Duncan has spent a fair amount of time with the Heat, so statistical rankings in D-League not comparable. Check out his videos on YouTube ....

I was asking if that was a weekly award in part because he scored 36 in one game. He's played in 33 of 49 G-League games.

My bad.  I forget it's the offseason and with nothing to talk about off-handed comments get extreme scrutiny.

Greek Tragedy, he was selected based on all players' performances through  the mid-point of the season, so obviously not a weekly award ....

This article discusses Charley Moore, a Middlebury recruit from the University School (alma mater of the Ephs' Spencer Spivy):

University ultimately lose to La Jolla Country Day -- 6'10 Jason Taylor, also mentioned in the article, is a Tufts recruit.

Hard to believe ... at amHerst a Common Language Guide is issued by an administrative office that defines capitalism as an "exploitative" and "racist" . Also defines privilege, topic masculinity, etc.

Guess I shouldn't have created so many good jobs and donated to the school ....

Jumpshot, Amherst's President has retracted that guide and said its release was a mistake.  In all events, every NESCAC school has policies or personnel who could be fairly criticized, so there is really no need for a gratuitous shot at Amherst based on that ...

Moreover, I really discourage folks from getting into politics on this board - at times the NESCAC football board went there, and it was never in any way a productive thing.  And indeed, is online discussion of politics EVER a good thing?  I've yet to see anyone change his or or mind about anything, ever.  Let's stick to hoops ...

Completely, utterly agree.   I love Amherst but if we ever start talking about the administration's politics, this is one Jeff fan who would be outta here.  Always love talking all sports, however!

Some random posts here.
Agree that "political potential" topics must be kept off this board.
Saw the past week, some replay of Un. Of Mich. NCAA games in 2018 and earlier.  Former FY EPH player who was " one and done"  at Williams in order to attend UMich. was seen in both games wearing "brightly colored" shoes...different colors in the two games.
Hope Jumpshot got to view Duncan too :).
Jumpshot.....your comment of helping Amherst grads/students is most generous and surprising to me.
Aware you are a D.C. area resident...posts on D.C. area playgrounds, etc.   Are you an alum of Williams??.  When I was much younger, I hung around a number of the same playgrounds.  Caught the HC of the Celtics...Red A....and a number of sports writers watching too.  My younger brother is a HS classmate of Red's daughter at the local public high school.  Small world post.

From the ODAC board ... as with all unsourced posts on an internet forum, who knows whether or not this is accurate:

HSC will make an announcement as early as today regarding new b'ball coach. I do not know who the lucky person is but he better hit the ground running.
It's not going to be Aaron Toomey. He was offered the job but turned it down after Amherst doubled his salary and named him head coach in waiting.

I know with 99% certainty who it's going to be. I won't say it though because I don't know if background checks and all the red tape that can hold up a hire have gone through yet.

With all due respect to NESCAC1 whose comments I appreciate

One has to be careful what is written on a "board' and taking it as gospel

1) Hixon just had a great year and won several Coach of the Year Awards including NESCAC Coach of the Year and has a great bunch of players

2) As far as Hampden Syndey job those are rumors and sometimes jobs are not perfect so who knows, Aaron Tooemy was an obviously talented player and has grown into being a great coach with a lot of possibilities and he should pick a job that will allow him to have the best opportunity to grow and show off his skills

3)  If ever David Hixon was to ever step down (by the way Hixon is in amazing physical shape) Amherst College will absolutely require a National search fir a new coach. Hixon has had several quality assistant coaches besides Aaron who have gone on to coach and do well

4) No way Amherst College could possibly double the salary of an assistant coach and make promises-

nescac1

Without a doubt that comment seems fishy, and I since received a direct message indicating that the source is very suspect.  So yeah, take it with a grain of salt ...

I had to read that line twice as it seems so unlikely, but as far as doubling a salary or committing to an assistant for the long haul, it seems entirely possible.
