Eclinchy - No way to hear or see the Bobcats play any more.  Last year, when Batescast was up and running, it was a real joy to see and hear the games.  I thought the young men who were providing the comment were really quite good.  But sorry, no way this year.  Would love to hear the Tufts game today.

Also upset Batescast is no more...I'll be able to give a second-hand account after the game based on what my family sees, but that's it. I'll have to settle on seeing the girls team at Tufts (I'll remember to go to Medford, and not Waltham).

Well, this is weird.  How does Amherst only beat Midd by six, and then the next day Amherst only leads Williams by four, while Midd is 17 behind Trinity?

Is Amherst a lot weaker in the NESCAC then everyone expected?  Is Trinity or Williams a lot stronger?  Is Midd just really inconsistent?  I have no clue what to make of these scores.

And by the way, any update from Lewiston?

At the half:
Amhert 36
Williams 33

Clinchy,

Welcome to the NESCAC, anything can happen.  And as Drew Cohen's fellow high school Alum says, "that's why they play the games!"

16:32
Amherst 45
Williams 38
Wheeler on fire! Made last four shots.

Bates absolutely trounced Tufts...I believe the score was 78-44. At the half it was 37-12, and Stockwell sat out most of the first half in foul trouble. Since it was so lop-sided, I didn't get a very detailed synopsis of the game--pretty much everyone on Bates played well. Sounds like Wholey was probably top scorer, and they even were hitting their FT's, which has been rare this year. Obviously based on the first half score, Bates' D was spectacular, and I think it's safe to say that  the Bobcats have regained some of their preseason respect (and hope) after a lousy opening NESCAC weekend. I guess the crowd wasn't as strong as last weekend either.

(Addendum: girls lost at Tufts, but Sarah Barton put on a show in the process.)

Go BOBCATS!!!

Amherst- 72
Williams-51
The Jeffs were strong defensively. Help Williams to 18 2nd half points.

Prediction:

Amherst 76
Williams 51

Actual:

Amherst 72
Williams 51

Good battle put up by Williams. Snyder played well as did Shalvoy for the first time in his career against us. Wheeler/Hopkins/Jones too many threats on offense. McLaughlin/Walters/Salerno too much tough D.
Olson had 11(A) and 4-6(TO) in a game he would probably say he was unhappy with. He played well the last 8 minutes...looking like Dante Hall and all.
Holsey with a monstrous/demoralizing block.
Block party was in full effect. The Ephs look like they have only 4 guys that can score (and 2-3 consistently).
Bedford and Zalaski in attendence but they didnt stand in a corner and look like they were about to break into song.
Seventeen and oohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh woooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

six ina row

correction to my earlier post: Bates 72-44. Wholey had 28.

anyone know why the tufts amherst games is not on jumbocast.

Piggybacking off of Walzy's earlier comments...

Rose had 11 at the half, but was largely absent for the second frame.  Amherst scored 36 in each half, so Williams did an adequate job on D, but the Jeff defense was great in the second half.  If you combine the perimeter D with the fact that Williams really didn't have an answer down low, you'll see how Amherst was able to pull away quickly.

Amherst warmed up right at the beginning of the second half, and that's where most of the damage was done.  They were on cruise control by the ten-minute mark in the second.
