Robert Taylor III also finishing with "just 21" on 9-10 shooting.  He added 10 boards and a couple of steals, blocks and assists in only 18 minutes.

Never heard of Fisher, I believe they are NAIA....but this didn't seem to be a game either.  Trin up 24 at the break and end up winning 106-58.

Another miraculously good shooting game for Russ Martin, 7-10 from the field and 6-7 from the line.  Steve "snooze" Dunn with a near double double off the bench...11 and 9.  Not bad for the progressing big fella.

Pat Coleman

Yeah, Fisher is NAIA and I think it is in the Boston area.

Quote from: hoopjunkie on January 23, 2007, 11:41:03 PMThe announcers said he would be the first junior in Tufts history to get 1000.
I dont think that can be true . does anyone kow the answer to that one .

Indeed it is not true.  The Tufts record book isn't that detailed, so I don't have that many exact figures.  But here's my rough estimate of the Jumbos' scoring records through junior year:

Greg Davis, 1300something
Troy Cooper, 1100something
Chris McMahon, 1106
Chad Onofrio, 1003
Jake Weitzen, 982 plus whatever scores the rest of this season
Ryan O'Keefe, 857 plus whatever scores the rest of this season

Jake's a lock, and Ryan's got a decent chance if he gets hot the rest of the way.  Good luck to them both...

formerbant, "But as a Hamilton grad, would you like to see them go 0-for the league this year in the NESCAC...maybe squeaking out wins against Wes and CC." is a little harsh.  A two-point loss to Midd and Williams (the latter coming without their best player) does not translate to a 0-10 league schedule.   Hamilton was always very competitive in the NESCAC, and that was playing two full conference schedules.  In fact, one of the driving reasons for them dropping out in basketball was that they had no travel partner, so on the Sat. games they were always playing a rested team who hadn't had to play the night before.  They are down a bit now, but are at least even with everyone but the top four in the NESCAC right now.  I would love to see them return to NESCAC and I think the divisional set up would work well.

formerbant10

I saw Hamilton play with their best player and you're right, they probably wouldn't go 0-for the league.  But they would not be competitive this year.  Guards are too young and they have no post presence.  They play a lot of guys and press the whole game.  But the NESCAC has a slew of very good point guards who could handle the pressure and, in my very humble opinion, get a lot of easy baskets against the Conts.

Could they wear teams down?  Possibly.  Would they win some of their home games, undoubtedly.  I know the travel partner issue is what led to them leaving the conference and it was the correct move, 100%.  They have had some very good teams and players recently, but this year would not be their year.

On Southern Vermont College's shooting shirts it had the initials of their school...which, when read backwards, was CVS. They were about as good as a CVS employee team.

formerbant - I completely agree they would not be a contender this year, I was only trying to say they wouldn't be a total embarrassment either.

Babson loses at home to Springfield, both squads even at 4-2 in the league.

WPI gets a hard fought win over CGA; thats twelve straight Ws now.

Anyone thinking upset this weekend? Why is Wesleyan so hard to
figure out they seem to have a strong team on paper.

Kelly a big center who scores & rebounds
Pelletier a power forward who has great numbers
Ashe , Shepard who are also putting up good numbers

Can they upset Bates / Tufts this weekend ??

who is favored Williams - Middlebury ?

eclinchy

I'll go with an 0-2 weekend for Wesleyan, and I'd bet big on it.

As for Midd-Williams, doesn't that depend on Rudin's status?  Does anyone know the deal on him, for sure?

I'll take Middlebury, but only if he's 100 percent.

Seeing as Steven's Point lost, I guess we can assume Amherst will drop to No. 3 or 4 in the rankings.
