Not a guard among the Amherst recruits, in a division and in a sport where three-point shooting guards rule. Awful.

In Amherst recruits there are 3 individuals who can hit the 3 pointer- Martin, Hamond and Randall -
Martin is more of a 2 guard
As far as Randall versus Bernstein, I watched Berkhsire play, Bernstein is good but the problem is that set up low and Randall more outside
weird I watched Berkshire and they never, never looked to pass to their big man in the final playoff game
Let the games be played next year and then make the decision

Martin is not a 2 guard, he's 6'7 and Rivers' 2 guard is going to Colby, Max Poulton. Even if Martin was a natural 2 guard there's no chance he plays much there with Reynolds and Mitchell most likely occupying those spots for the next 3 years.

If Berkshire didn't look to throw it down low, doesn't that tell you a lot?

Another Bowdoin commit:

Will Logue, SG, 6-2, Santa Rosa (CA) HS

Great story thanks for sharing Colby Hoops!  Given how the Celts' season has gone, including some really creative coaching moves, I really hope Hardy gets his shot as an NBA head coach soon ... maybe as Pop's successor!  That would give Williams the NBA coach / player / GM trifecta ...

Also hope to see Pop catch some Williams games whenever he does retire.  That would be fun!

On another note, so far Sam Peek has three D1 offers, Stetson, Jacksonville and UMBC.  Stephon Baxter is also reported to be in the transfer portal, which is obviously a crushing blow for Bates.  Hopefully they can join the large group of Nescac players who have fared well in D1 hoops (Matt Hart, Hunter Sabety, Varun Ram and of course Duncan ... alas, injuries robbed Austin Hutcherson of his shot, or he'd surely be on the list too).  BTW scary to think of this year's Wesleyan team with Hutcherson.  Probably the second biggest Nescac what if after what if Maker and Duncan had stayed three more years ...

Behind a paywall, but a cool story on Will Hardy's Williams to NBA coaching path: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2022/04/12/sports/how-celtics-assistant-will-hardys-unlikely-link-gregg-popovich-launched-him-williams-college-nba/

Great get Colby Hoops! I think every Eph fan is really excited about Will's future in the game.  Note that in the background of the picture of Will shooting a jumper during a Williams practice, is Dale Wellman, then an assistant coach at Williams. Dale, of course, is now the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan, winner of the D3 national championship a couple of years ago. Dale was one of those assistants who seemed headed for big things.

This certainly can't hurt recruiting ... (although I imagine at least Amherst and maybe Bowdoin, the other highest per-capita endowment schools in Nescac, will feel pressure to match).

Glad to see Bowdoin adding size (per earlier post) and geographic diversity in their recruiting class.  Williams, Midd, and Amherst have always had strong national recruiting classes.

Sam Peek transfer update:

William and Mary makes a ton of sense.  They had a tough season last year and are looking at a full rebuild.  Their two best wings graduated and transferred to Davidson.  They desperately need immediate rotation guys at wing.  And the coach is Dane Fischer, who certainly knows Nescac well.  Plus tremendous grad programs as an attraction, too ...

Funny to see the clear D3 ties in Peek's recruitment---Fischer as noted, Towson HC is former Tufts great Pat Skerry, and UMBC assistant coach Danny Lawson is the former HC at Emmanuel.

we will see about Martin and the Berkshire Randall

I guess from my basketball pedigree I must not know anything ( not true) Spring Street
I certainly know enough to be polite to others on the board and not be contentious  which is why I rarely comment on this board

I apologize if this came across as "contentious". Wasn't my intention

Two Conn College recruits:

RJ Casey, 5'10 PG, Franklin Road (TN)
Elias Espinosa, 6'3 G, Bergen Catholic (NJ)

Conn adds depth behind an already solid guard trio of Flynn / Whelan / Schainfield.  Conn, with nearly everyone back, seems like a sleeper next year, and may well be a contender the following year if it's big guys develop and their guards can improve their three point shooting efficiency, which was a conspicuous weak spot last year.

While not always the most accurate, but seeing as it is the offseason, HoopDirt reporting that a NESCAC head coach is in the mix for the NYU opening, which has been by far the most attractive D3 opening of an otherwise quiet offseason in the coaching carousel, although the D3 window certainly opens later than the higher levels.

Pure speculation but the name that makes the most sense to me would be Adam Stockwell at Hamilton. There are too many established coaches that can be ruled out as well as 4 who have been there for 1 or 2 seasons (Sears, Linton, Lloyd, Sweeney) + the obvious at the top of the list. Stockwell might be feeling he has taken Hamilton as far as he can take it and does not have much in the pipeline as far as recruiting or talent on the roster. Furbush would've been another name that made sense from that standpoint but coaching at his alma mater I would imagine makes it a much different calculus.
