Quote from: D3BBALL on February 15, 2025, 04:35:48 PMIf Williams, Colby, and Amherst all end up four and six, what are the seeds, does anybody know.

Willams, Colby, and Amherst each went 1-1 vs the other-- First tiebreaker fails.

Williams, Colby, and Amherst each have 4 NESCAC wins-- Second tiebreaker fails.

The 3 way tie would go to the third tiebreaker-- Record vs NESCAC Top 4.

Williams went 1-3 vs the NESCAC top 4 of Wesleyan, Trinity, Tufts, and Hamilton due to the Ephs win over Trinity.

Colby and Amherst each went 0-4 vs the same NESCAC top 4 in conference play.

Therefore, Williams will get the #6 seed.

Colby and Amherst then end up remaining in a 2 way tie, and Colby will get the #7 seed due to the Mules's head to head win over Amherst.

Amherst will get the #8 seed and will play Wesleyan next Saturday in the NESCAC quarterfinals in Middletown, CT.

For the second straight weekend, Bates has taken a top 10 NCAA team to overtime. Morakis has been dominant for the Jumbos but Pouye and Coyne have been equally impressive for bates.

Tufts officially closes its 3rd 8-2 year in 5 seasons, beating bates by 8 in OT. Kennelly was a menace on D, 5 steals. Jumbocast said he was 6th in the league in steals (likely higher now) and the fact that he gets prob half the minutes as some of these other guys really gives you a glimpse into the kind of player he will be for tufts as he becomes an upperclassman.

NESCAC ends the year 55-55 in league play. Really hope they can turn it around headed into the post-season and better represent the talent of the league in the tournament [/sarcasm]

Maine teams go 6-24 in NESCAC.
Vermont team went 3-7
Massachusetts teams went 16-14 almost entirely thanks to Tufts, Boston's NESCAC school which should draw the top recruits year after year.
New York team went 7-3
Connecticut teams went 23-7.

I do think tufts will eventually consistently get the top recruits but  for now Wesleyan and Trinity have a lot of momentum and will be able to recruit well.

Coach Linton got his 100th career win over Bates last night. Linton is 74-30 with Tufts. A very very impressive record considering the NESCAC is consistently a top 3 conference in the country, and given that NESCAC teams only play each other once, we have to find more non conference opponents, and Tufts has consistently had the toughest non conference schedule out of NESCAC teams. I believe the previous coach (still love him) was sub .500 in over 30 years with Tufts. Special things happening in Medford and if you are a recruit reading this trust me you want to be returning to the Boston metro area after a long NESCAC weekend, not some rural cow town.

Yeah, kids famously hate being in college towns. Plus, if you're playing high-level basketball and going to school, there's not a whole lot of time to be out on the town wherever you are.

Mumbo closes out a strong 36-9 NESCAC prediction record. 1-0 in Lock of the day as the Eagles took care of business over the chiefs.

Next weekend the fun begins.
Score predictions for NESCAC Q finals:

Wesleyan 79-45 over Amherst
Trinity 72-66 over Colby
Tufts 82-51 over Williams
Hamilton 66-60 over Conn.

Spring is the d3 athletes time to pretend they go to an SEC school.

Shout out to Bates as stated above took tufts and Wesleyan into OT. Nice way to finish their season. Same to Middlebury, shame they are not in playoffs, just too many injuries but they didn't give up.

Haha I clearly did not get into Tufts without the help of a few coaches

Absolutely amazing season for Wesleyan, but it's not accurate to say they are the first team to finish 24-0.  Conn College erasure! Kareem Tatum and friends  could ball ...

First Round Playoff Predictions
Amherst 65 @ Wesleyan 88  Wesleyan in a breeze wire to wire
Williams 63 @ Tufts 79  Williams close at half but Tufts responds
Conn 65 @ Hamilton 70 Conn upset bit thwarted by a big game from Morgan
Colby 64 @ Trinity 84 Colby defenseless against Trinity

D3BBALL

My prediction is that there will be one upset, who that is, have no idea.

Wesleyan/Amherst. Have to give Amherst credit for beating both Williams and Middlebury to ensure playoffs. Not sure many would have predicted that before last weekend. To beat Wesleyan they will need monster game from Scherer, for him to stay out of foul trouble and there wings to slow down Regan. A lot to ask at Wesleyan but Bates took Wesleyan to ot??

Trinity/Colby, Trinity does not defend the 3 great. Can Colby shoot it well for 40 minutes, and can Civello, defend the paint and score inside. Will Trinity continue their dominance since losing to Wesleyan??

Tufts/Williams- can all pretty much agree Williams huge disappointment. Will they show up at all or will this be a blow out. They have the talent, but have not shown it. Tufts on a roll but almost lost to Bates at home??

Hamilton/Conn - if Espinosa is out, they might not have much of a chance. This match up might be the least one for an upset without Espinosa. Morgan will feast off that zone with a week to prepare, even more that he did during regular season and that game was at Conn. Although no Espinosa in that game and it was a 1 point game with 7 minutes to go.

In last 10 years lower seed has beaten a higher in the quarters I think in 7 of those years.

There will be an upset, maybe, lol!

rdanie03

I don't see an upset brewing. The Top 4 are all top 15 teams in the country who can all but lock up home-court privileges for the first weekend of the NCAA tourney with a 1st round win, while no one outside the top 4 is higher than Williams at 59. This year's NESCAC might be the most top-heavy it's ever been, as with the exception of Williams beating Trinity, no one has taken a game off the top 4.
