After their performances over the last few weeks, maybe the Amherst student section should steal all-crazy from Wes Tech...

Hey walzy 31 - how little of a life do you actually have ? Making fun of aome of the nicest,
classiest guys in the league . Not suprising, not a lot of Amherst names on your stupid, not
funny lists . Classiest fans in the league : Amherst not  - led by least funny man on this site

YES YOU GUESS IT WALZY 31 !!!!

hoopjunkie,

chill. it's a joke. it's for hahas.
last year, members of the team were proud to be on it. the three tufts kids on the team this year are very talented basketball players, as are all of the mentioned players. no one complained last year other than that i forgot to add so and so. or that player xyz was a steal at the 7th overall pick. if i hurt any of the feelings of this year's team members, i apologize...but i would bet I didnt. these players see many minutes for their teams and are used to being picked out by opposing fans in away gyms. 7 or 8 of them start or are of starting caliber.

yes it is obviously amherst bias:
Wesleyan - 4
Tufts - 3
Trinity -2
Bowdoin - 1
Colby -1
Conn - 1
Williams - 1
Amherst - 1
Bates - 0
Middlebury - 0

If I made the team bias I would put down the first 10 who play on Williams and say things about them. But Chris Rose and Kevin Snyder arent really crazy. Fitzy and Westbrooks are.
Do you morally disagree with SI Swimsuit issue as well? The objectification of all those pretty girls...

thanks for the "least funny man on this site" award!
awards are good.

Hoopjunkie, if you want to get Walzy back, I suggest you make up an all-chotch team, which would be absolutely dominated by Amherst players, past and present (Dan Moses '96 would be the Blake Curry of that squad).

What happened with the Middlebury fans and Farrell?  Lots of embarassing fan behavior in the league of late ...

Great stuff again Walzy.  Well thought out, finely-detailed and and overall improvement from last year.

hoopjunkie

thanks nescac1 - I dont really know all the history of the league other then the last few years so
i will not respond to all of walzy`s making fun of some very talented hardworking student athletes .

Voice of reason Frank, as usual.

Hoopjunkie, as Walzy stated many of those players were actually honored to be mentioned in it.  I thought it was pretty clear cut that he was writing everything in jest, but we are all entitled to our opinion.

Pat Coleman

I am pretty sure that having played the game isn't a prerequisite for being a fan or commentator.

PS.  Walzy is a pretty hardworking student athlete himself.  It might not be basketball, but I'm sure he knows what it's like to compete.

walzy,
can you tell me about blake curry. i have heard his name mentioned on here as being one of the great "crazies" but have never heard an actual story about him.

thoughts from williamstown this weekend.....
tufts: i haven't had the chance to see anybody besides amherst or williams before this weekend. prior to seeing them, i was among the many who were confused by tufts up and down season. after watching the jumbos through warmups and the first five minutes of the game i understood their "downfall". i'm all for players being "loose" before games but their warmups was rather lackadaisical. players were hosting up shots from around midcourt during warmups and their overall attitude just didn't look like they were preparing for a nescac tourny game. i don't know if they thought the ephs would be an easy win or this is how they look and prepare for every game. either way, the jumbos were not prepared and were really confused offensively by the 1-3-1 zone/trap put on by the ephs. players were screaming at each other and shepard looked like he wanted to cry. tufts had no leadership and spent the whole game yelling at each other and the any 50/50 call the refs made that didn't go their way. i have a lot of respect for sheldon, but this looked like the most dsfunctional, undisciplined tufts team i have seen in a long time. the jumbos spent the last 2 minutes of the game fouling the ephs. many of the fouls were hard and twice players were warned that the next would be a flagrant. fitzgerald ended his college career by fouling an eph player with 5 seconds left and then shoving him into the wall. he fouled out at this point and walked off the floor with his hands down his shorts adjusting his nuts. he's a real classy individual. walzy, perhaps he belongs on your 1st "all crazy" team and isn't a measly 2nd teamer.

williams: if pierce qualifies as a freshman he is the ROY. if not, blake schultz has to win it. the kid is good. he will be better than rose. he is the complete package on offense....can hit the 3, drive to the hoop, and has a mid ranged jumper. admitingly, i was never a big fan of shalvoy before this year but he has really improved and standouts in a conference that is loaded with talented point guards. he went for 26 pts. and 6 assists rose was pretty quiet as tufts really shielded him from the ball but he was still pretty solid with 15 pts. and 7 boards. weisbrot was the real difference maker with 6 pts. and 11 boards in 19 minutes. at times, i think paulsen should but him and Geoghegan down low as starters and have rose, schultz, and shalvoy in the backcourt. this was the best i've seen the ephs play in years and was really exciting to see.

cruiser

im no expert on the other rookies from around the league but based on numbers, id definitely take colby's choice over shultz. he is also, arguably, the third most important player on his team. he has been a spark for colby in more than a few games...
