yes, let's give it up to walzy and a team he no longer plays for and a williams team he could never beat in his era. and thank god walzy never went to williams b/c with players like blake, khari, armington, bolton (all have played now at the professional level) and players in his own class like national player of the year leary, NESCAC POY huffer and NESCAC ROY olsen (all in the same '07 yes), walzy probably wouldn't have gotten off the bench until his sophomore/junior year (dana leary played a lot for the jv team his freshman year). instead, he attended a more than half decent program and accumulated his AA accolade with the stats he got at amherst that never would have been possible at williams. cheers, walzy! you must be proud!

I would have dropped a lot goals my sophomore, junior and senior seasons at Williams. They were an extremely good side (Leary, Bolton, Khari, Blake...all next-level players). If I could go back in time and go to Williams over Amherst would I? Hahaha no way in hell. I'd rather go to Trinity, lose in soccer, and cheer for a juggernaut football program, good hoops/baseball teams, and see attractive girls. I think you understand how much i dislike Williams' hoops program, but I don't think you understand the respect I have for Russo's soccer program.
In other news, I am flirting with the idea of starting my own website. www.d3walzy.com
It would be the more appropriate locale for nescachoops to obsess over me (but I am flattered you are brave enough to do it on Pat Coleman's website).

Common Associations:
New England Patriots 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007
Amherst College Basketball 2007, 2008
Boston Red Sox 2004, 2007

Still stumped?

trust me, im not infatuated with you. but as your self proclaimed "hater of williams basketball" i am going to joke with you. you're slightly obnoxious/cocky/etc. so yeah, ill bust your balls. it was just a joke. "i would have dropped goals my sophomore, junior, and senior year" - sophomore year, no.  junior and senior year yes....but not as many as at amherst. not enough to be an AA. in all serious, it was just a joke from what seemed like a random post from jeff rook. either way i thought it was an intersting thought for all you amherst fans who argue that more of their players would be on all-nescac team/awards if they were on teams that were not as loaded with talent and vice versa that other players in the league wouldnt have the stats they had if they played for amherst....that i happen to agree with for the most part. just an intersting swing to think of when when of your more acclaimed posters, walzy, is probably in the same boat as players from "lesser" basketball programs than amherst bball who get nomitated.

actually williams was the nescac champs last year in ALL of those sports you mentioned. while trin trin may have had a great run during your era  (despite williams going undefeated your senior year for the nescac crown and giving an A$$WHOOPING to amherst on your homecoming last year), williams is actually the traditional "nescac football powerhouse" and have had numerous undefeated seasons and a handful who have played in the nfl and in the european league. as for pretty girls, that's what the freshman class at MCLA is for...

Turning back to hoops, I see that Conn College has its season preview up ... looks like last year's starter Will Lyons (second leading scorer) is not returning to the program as he is not mentioned in the preview.  That will be a blow.  Conn has a nice nucleus with Stone, Bernier and Young, but probably not enough to be a contender, especially losing an underclassman starter.  Still, I imagine they will perform a little better in NESCAC considering all the talent teams like Wesleyan, Bates and Colby are losing.   I imagine rosters will start popping up after Nov. 1 ...

walzy31

Will (Chaug's Tracy McGrady) Lyons transferred to WPI.
I hear Bates got a 6'7'' transfer from Salve who is supposed to be solid. Any Lewiston knowledge on him?

raising the banner on friday in lefrak. also having the alumni game and i imagine announcing the roster.

La Verdad

Probably gonna have to wait a week or two for the roster.

A brief preseason interview with Amherst Coach Hixon from the Tufts Daily in which Hixon says that Olson is bigger and could be even better than last year.

I'm a Williams guy and I understand that these rankings don't mean anything, but for the defending National Champ to lose only one player that was of any significance (Wheeler) and not get the preseason number one ranking was very confusing to me.  Of course it's not a lack respect for the NESCAC b/c Williams was pretty average all last year until the tournament, and they are ranked #15.  Any others with the same opinion and explanation as to why that would be I would love to hear from you.

Mr. Ypsi

#2 is not exactly chopped liver!

And #1 Wash U was beaten by Amherst by how many in the Final Four?  They lost even less to graduation than Amherst.  Those two were almost certainly going to be ranked 1 and 2, and which order was nearly a toss-up.

fpc85

I don't really care....#1 in the end is what counts and I am sure it will just motivate the Jeffs....but near "toss ups" should go to the defending champs. Given past history, I can't say I am surprised.

I will be in Amherst this weekend to celebrate the unfurling of the championship banner and to put that behind us and focus on proving the naysayers wrong again.
