Springfield may be the best 2-4 team I have seen in a while. They will beat a few good teams before the season is over.

Already beat Trinity in Hartford.

Springfield played a 1-3-1 zone vs Williams. They shoot too well for that and they definitely took advantage.  If they played man, they would have won.....

Rick Vaughn

And if Amherst hadn't of defected from Williams way back when then they would currently have one hell of a basketball team.

Williams was 9-32 from 3pt. land in that game. Being significantly smaller than the Ephs, I would have expected Williams to overpower the Pride down low and Geoghehan would have done a lot more more than 17pts. and 7 boards had Springfield played man. If you ask me from looking at the box score, the best chance Springfield had to win this game was a zone....

The silence from the Amherst faithful after yesterday's loss to Brandeis is deafening.

I'm inerested to hear reports from those in attendance.  Is Brandeis that good even without DeLuca?  How good is U-Mass Dartmouth?

It was definitely a sobering game. I don't think I've seen Amherst that out of sync in long time. Brandeis may be very good even without DeLuca, but Amherst definitely did not bring their A game. Once again they let rebounding be their achilles' heel. Also, I personally thought the officiating was a little rough, but Amherst definitely needs to come a long way to get back to the level they were at last year.

I think part of the problem is that w/o McLauglin and Salerno (who was at Brandeis, btw) there are not nearlly as many opportunities for points in transition of off turnovers. There is still no go-to guy in the half court, as we couldn't get the ball down low to any of our big guys. 1 shot for B. Jones? Thats not a good sign.

It appears that Williams had another ugly win at home against Springfield.  It's the type of game that the Ephs would have lost last year.

how can silence be deafening? this doesn't make any sense at all...silence means no noise..you become deaf from loud noises..please explain your backwards logic...

in other news, I am once again guaranteeing an Amherst National championship..i hope i have room for it on my mantle next to the celtics, pats and sox championship trophies..

Andrew Olsen for Hobey Baker!

Please tell me you have heard of the phrase "the silence is deafening"? If not, this is what it means...http://www.thefreedictionary.com/deafening+silence
Stay in school.

If you actually watched the Pats game this week you would also know that guarantees can sometimes come back to bite you.

Not when you're taking the Pats this season.

hoopjunkie

I was at the game and I thought the Brandeis crowd was loud . I feel so vidicated that the big men of Amherst who I thought all along were so totally overrated could do absolutely nothing against a relatively small front line of Brandeis . I`m loving the excuses That Amherst didn`t bring their A game .

Unless BBCR knows something of Olson's secret life we are not privy to (or is simply a doofus), I'll assume the post was satiric: the Hobey Baker is the 'Heisman' of college hockey!

I think amherst might need to get another ballhandler in theirinstead of coulibaly. How amherst gets outrebounded with that starting lineup is a little ridiculous. Not having olsen at full strength (supposedly) definitely is a huge problem given they really have no one else in that lineup who can bring the ball up and penetrate but regardless a pretty bad loss given Brandeis was without their best player.

For people who were at the game, who was the vocal leader for amherst when they were getting pushed around? Anybody? I´m sure they will have it figured out and be ready to go once league starts. Baskauskas needs to get a lot more touches as he is simply their best overall scorer.

Booballs, in regards to the celts- spurs, jazz, mavs, suns, and warriors would all absolutely crush the C´s in the finals.

I worry about the Spurs and the Jazz...maybe even the Magic. Not so much the Warriors.

Tufts wins its fifth straight, 86-64 over Plymouth State.  Heading into winter break 6-2.

Pierce goes for 17 and 12... Black once again has a huge shooting night, going 5-for-7 on threes and finishing with 17 points.  Congrats to all three Jumbos who set new career scoring highs -- Tom Selby (6), Sam Mason (6), and Aaron Harris (first career point).

JustAFan

Rhode Island College nips Trinity 70-68 in what sounds like a barnburner tonight in Hartford.  RIC improves to 8-1 with its fifth straight win while the Bantams drop to 6-2.  Trinity had 3 shots to tie in in the last 38 seconds but was unable to convert.

Baller10,
I see what you are saying. Amherst relies heavily on Olson to bring the ball up, and when someone is in his jock for 40 minutes the entire length of the court, they could use someone to relieve the pressure. I don't think they have the vocal leaders they've had in the past. They don't have a Russel Lee or a John Casnocha that will speak up when things go wrong. Those two seemed to be of a similar mold. I must say in the games I watched last year Baskauskas (sp?) had the best basketball skills on the court. If he became more aggressive, more confident he would probably be the best player in the league.

Impressive week from Wholey getting it going with all aspects of the game.
Bates offense for the past couple of years has relied heavily on 2-3 guys to get it done (ie gerrity/furbush, ray/stockwell) this team its seems like those guys are gonna be wilson and wholey, we'll see how they match up once NESCAC play starts up and some of the big boys start posting up

Sportscenter quoted Don Nelson as saying the win from the Warriors against the Spurs should be marked with an asterisk because it was played without Tim Duncan.
Baller10, how do you feel about Asterisks?
