Very nice article.  Wouldn't be surprised if that was more coverage than they received on campus.

BooBallsCasRay-
You are an embarassment to Amherst. I do not believe that one of your posts have ever been about basketball. Do you know anything about the sport or has your only exposure been late night "hanging out" with Boo, Balls, Cas and Ray?

Although it sure is weird that a tie would happen for both the men and women in the same year.  Who knows... maybe they're just picking 11 people this year.

In any event, here's a Trinity feature.  Good luck to the Bants tonight against Coast Guard.

Where's Walzy with an over/under on total tournament wins for the four NESCAC teams?  Is it 8?  9?
Total tournament wins for NESCAC schools in this year's NCAA tournament:

Over / Under: 7.5

Congratulations to Trinity and the All Conference Players;

This has been a most interesting season, with a lot of close games and strong performances from teams like Bowdoin that were not picked early on to be as strong as they turned out to be. There were many 1-2 possession games, and very few blowouts. It was fun to watch, and sometimes heartbreaking, but that's the way its supposed to be in a good league.

Just wanted to follow-up on some pre-playoff discussions about how conference players are chosen. Some of the posters thought looking to the scoring stats
was over-emphasized, and that you shouldn't just pick the top ten scorers. While I agree with that statement, I also thought you had to have a real good reason to leave any of at least the first five top scorers off the all- conference team.

Looking at the selections, they chose 8 out of the top ten scorers (I'm using in-conference stats). Actually, they chose 9 out of 10 if you count Ellis who was ROY.
They made the obvious exception for Olson, and for the Bants' point guard Hausik,
which makes sense since he led them to a conference championship and wasn't at all shabby in scoring at #13, and with all those clutch 3's.

The bottom line is that the first criteria for these honors is scoring, and no one is looking that closely at your "all around game" or your potential had you had more playing time, or any other intangible unless you are an Olson, or the winning point guard on the league champ.

Good luck to all our teams going to the NCAA tourney.

MLB All-Stars and NFL Pro-Bowlers are selected based on their stats as well: AVG, HR, K, ERA, RBI, TD, PassYDs, RushYDs, INT, etc.. and not on their defensive positioning, sport IQ, or "all around game."

Trinity trailing Coast Guard 29-26 at the half. Hopefully the Bants can pull it out in the second half.

Amherst has John Jay on Saturday...

Someone missed a three with five seconds left and a chance to tie (I don't think they said who... I'd guess Hasiuk?).  Martin then fouled Craig Johnson on the rebound and he made both shots.

One and done for the NESCAC champs... that's depressing.

Bad night for the conference when the tourney champ loses at home to the NEWMAC...

Get used to it because Curry is going to beat Bowdoin too

Another talented Trinity team, and yet again, another choke. I just don't get it? How can you have this many talented players and not get out of ROUND 1 in the NCAA's... AGAIN? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

I'd put money that Trinity has more talented players than at least 4-5 of the teams that will be left in the sweet 16 this year, yet when was their last sweet 16? Back when the Ultimate Warrior was in the ring? :P
