Thanks for the response on Delaney.

You said that he has good size for a PG.  What are his height and weight?

hoya73

Eph--I didn't see him last year on the court but I am guessing 6'2"-6'3".  He looks to be in good shape.  If he buys in to Coach P's program he should be able to run the motion offense all day long.

Thanks for the info.  I heard (unconfirmed) that Williams is bringing in yet another point / combo guard, 6'0 James Wang from CT.  He is listed here (although does not confirm his college destination):

If true, that would be THREE guys who have played the point coming in next year (Wells, Wang, Delaney) and at least five recruits total (Emerson, Mickens).  Guess Paulsen is not kidding around about replacing Shalvoy ...  looks like both Amherst and Williams are bringing in strong classes, with Amherst loading up in the frontcourt and Williams loading up on the guards.

Congrats to Andrew Olson and all of the other athletes who represented DIII exceptionally well during the CBI.

Looks like Trinity is in reloading rather than rebuiling mode after losing its top three scorers and pretty much all of its inside presence, bringing in two of the top three ranked D-III bound New England prospects so far in Yanulis and Pike:

http://www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/rankings/new_england.php

Both are post grads, meaning both should be ready to step in and produce early on.  Seems like lots of NESCAC schools are bringing in very strong recruiting classes this year, led by Trinity, Amherst (loading up in the front court), Williams (loading up in the back court) and Bowdoin (a little of both).  Any word on Tufts?  Lots of holes to fill there ... I wonder if Reilly's hiring will affect Bates or Wesleyan, of if that happened too late in the spring ...

Check out this link to what is described as Trinity's "Monster Class":

http://www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/article/407/Yanulis-and-Applegate-Complete-Trinity's-Monster-Class.php

According to the article, "Trinity College has put together a recruiting class that has to be considered among the nation's best at the division III level", consisting of 3 New England prep school post-graduate players (Pike and Applegate from Exeter and Yanulis from Northfield Mt. Hermon) and UNH transfer Sal Abdo, who will rejoin former St. Mark's teammate Paul Rowe and have 4 years of eligibility available.

the jeffs will get it done again next year. all they do is reload.

formerbant10

My high school baseball team used to have T shirts that said "We don't rebuild, we reload!"  Somewhat appropriate for the Jeffs.

Good to hear the Bants have a good class coming in.  They'll still have some pretty good seniors in Westbrooks and Rowe and the younger guys looked pretty good in spots and should improve with a year under their belt.

Congratulations to the Williams Women's tennis team for winning the NCAA title against the undefeated and #1 ranked Washington & Lee tennis team.

... every year I think amherst has a chance to win the director's cup, some williams' team grabs multiple daggers and drives them all straight through my heart.

Anyone heard anything further regarding Hamilton moving to a full NESCAC schedule?  A couple months ago I received an email from Hamilton's AD saying they were evaluating switching to a one-league format (either Liberty League or NESCAC).  Not to overestimate their strength in basketball, as they haven't fielded a team that would likely have contended for a title in several years, but they would definitely add to the depth of the league and an 11-team league would be a beast.  Then again, the one-game NESCAC schedule would negate some of that difficulty.  In any case, I think most Hamilton fans (certainly I would) would welcome a return to competing fully in NESCAC again.

Sources tell me Coach Paulsen is headed to Bucknell. Time will tell if it's true...

haterinthehouse

that would be interesting. Coach Paulsen is a great coach with D2 experience, but I never thought he would be considered for making that kind of jump.  If it is true, I wish him the best.  I remember him telling a great story about how he won the Coach of the Year honors the year that they lost to UWSP because Coach Bennett had not paid his NABC Dues.  Still makes me laugh.  But again, that would be interesting

Paulsen to Bucknell would be something. I have a feeling he would do very well anywhere he went.  Bucknell would probably be a similar type player(academically) as Williams except maybe a bit bigger and better.

Any inside scoop on Bates position? I heard a prep school coach in Miane was interested. Any idea who that is?

nescac1

Wow, that would be huge.  Keep us posted.  Wonder who the top candidates to replace him would be.  The only person who comes to mind immediately is Josh Loeffler (played at Swarthmore, former Williams assistant, great success in two seasons at Stevens, helped to recruit a good chunk of the current roster) but he just took an assistant job at Lafayette so I guess he is out.  If they stick with the former Eph tradition, there is Pat Duquette at BC, but he may be aiming for a Division I position given that he is top assistant at a Big East school, and he is the only Eph I know of currently in a coaching position (some in basketball administrative positions, but that would be a huge leap to head coach ...).
