Not too shabby... now if we could just get the football team to start carrying its weight.

This is getting more and more like Bizarro world. In my humble opinion NESCAC 1 and Eph Hoops are two of the better contributors. NESCAC 1 provides interesting links, recruiting info etc. etc. Yet he sits with 10 Karma or whatever the ---- it's called and others who contribute much much much much much less have many many many many many times the Karma or whatever it is.
It's only a small D3 basketball thing and yet look how folks have made it into a sort of Bizarro world. I mean who gives out Karma? It wouldn't surprise me a bit if ONE person dished out most of it, as a matter of fact I believe that's the case. This is only an opinion, not a fact.

So anyway I have decided to have my own hall of fame. It will be far more valid than the one that exists and it will reflect what I think is valuable on this site.
Former Bant (good to have an actual player in) of course is in it and so is NESCAC 1. Walzy makes it because he has shown dedication even after graduating and while he doesn't contribute as much as NESCAC 1 he still contributes a lot more than almost all the others. Of course I too am in it because it's my Hall.
The only thing NESCAC 1 does wrong is consistently talk about Amherst players and recruits as if they were Gods but he can't help that.
Ephoops is very close. I think I'll make him a Jr. Member.
There will be no gaudy chintzy stars along side the member's names, so this will be an understated hall of fame.

I hereby decree that the Senator Frost Hall Of Fame is now in existence. Ta da.

Senator Frost:

I'm honored...

If I told you that, similar to Former Bant, I'm a former player as well (although a little bit older), would that get me bumped from Jr. Member to Hall of Famer?...   ;D

senatorfrost

Actually it would. I didn't know and in true hall of fame fashion you have been very modest, a nice quality.

I don't know Gabriel, I realize it can't compare to the Centennial Conference, but NESCAC has survived fairly well over the past five years or so, given that the league has in recent memory produced two national champions, and four other teams from the conference have made the NCAA's.   Sorry for the sarcastic tone, but every year lots of non-NESCAC people bitch about NESCAC scheduling, and it gets a little old ...

amh63, interesting re: Carcieri.  He was a dominant prep player and he could provide a real boost to Amherst as a sixth man if healthy next year.

nescac 1

Sorry about the late response but I have been busy watching basketball.
I case you haven't noticed, the Centennial Conference is still playing.

nescac1

When the Centennial has won more national titles and sent more teams to the Final Four than the NESCAC, feel free to provide all the advice you'd like.

NESCAC2

get him nescac1, brother.

Thanks Herst.  That is already two highly regarded recruits Trinity has locked up (along with Polanco).  Is Tabb now the permanent coach?  He certainly earned it with the way the team came together and his strong recruiting -- Trinity has had three straight stellar recruiting classes and I believe even before he was head coach, he was recruiter-in-chief.  Trinity has no rising seniors but they have amassed a ton of young talent and could surprise next year depending on how fast some of the young guys, especially the four well-regarded big guys they have stockpiled, mature -- and no doubt a team to keep an eye on for 2010-11.   Trinity / Wesleyan should have a fun rivalry both on the court and in recruiting in future years -- Reilly is of course a Trinity alum, both are recruiting the same area, and both seem to be bringing in great groups of recruits for next year.

BornBalla

I would think Tabb would get a shot to bring Trinity to where they are used to being, at the top of one of the best D3 leagues. The guy flat out gets ridiculous talent. Look at last few years. That is all him. I saw them play and there was no issue with talent maybe experience. In NESCAC, that just gets you buried. After a year of running the show himself & and influx of more talent, I expect Trinity to be back in the mix next year. How will Middlebury be? Any word on recruits?

NESCAC2

rumor has it middlebury is going to be pretty down next year.

All region team posted.  Looks about right.  Biggest omissions are DeLuca and Shelton, but then again, the forward position in New England is really deep (I never heard of Horton but he must be good to beat out those two, Choice, and Schultz).  This should assuage the Tufts fans upset that Pierce was beaten out by Choice and Schultz for all conference -- apparently stats mean less to NESCAC coaches than to a wider pool of voters.

Will be quite a battle for pre-season regional honors at forward spots with Pierce, Schultz, Choice, Horton, Shelton all returning ... guard and center are a bit more depleted, although Geoghegan returns at C for Williams and should be a contender, as should Locke from Midd.  Some strong guards returning in NESCAC as well who didn't make this list (Meehan, Bernier, C. Wilson).

TheHerst2and4

Horton is a kid from my hometown via Detroit, an athletic wing, averaged 23 ppg for Worcester State (just 2 ppg shy of averaging his age)

Old Guy

"rumor has it middlebury is going to be pretty down next year" NESCAC2

Don't know about recruits, but can't see Middlebury as "pretty down" next year, though others may be pretty up.

The upside of Locke seems pretty high. 36 more blocks than the next guy, playing 22 minutes a game: he changes games. Will only get better. Sharry, a legitimate ROY possibility, will be a year older and stronger, familiar with the league and its demands. Davis came on by leaps and bounds (literally) this year and can only be better next year. Wholey will be a terrific all-round player. Edwards can play the point - was the back-up this year on those occasions (albeit rare) when Rudin was out.

The secret weapon next year may be Coglan who had 31 (Union), 23 Bates), 19 (Colby) last year as a frosh, but couldn't crack the rotation this year, after early injuries. Maybe Kelleher will be back, after being out almost the whole year with a back problem: he's rugged (6'4") and shoots the three.

Without Rudin and his kamikaze style, we'll be different, and may not be 8-1, but "down"? I don't think so.
