Conn has two "A-league" guys.
Billy Karis did a PG year at Worcester Academy; I think he was a bench player for them.
Shavar Bernier was a starter for Bridgeton Academy.

Some years those teams are loaded with Blue Chippers. They're also filled with tweeners who jump at the opportunity to play in the D-II league for LeMoyne, Assumptio, St. Mike's, etc.

I'm confident that Amherst would destroy any of those high school teams.

That I said, I watched Mt Vernon vs St. Raymonds yesterday and those squads could compete in NESCAC.

St. Ray's is always scary.

If Elms were to win out, it would make for an interesting hosting situation. Not sure Elms' little gym could host a sweet 16/elite 8

It can't. The Maguire Center only seats 500, and the D3 men's basketball championship handbook requires a 1,000-seat minimum in order for a gym to host a sectional. However, Elms is allowed to submit a bid to host a sectional (provided that the Blazers reach the Sweet Sixteen) using a different facility. F'rinstance, Elms could submit a bid using either Springfield's or Western New England's gyms (both of which seat 2,000), or American International's gym (however many that holds), or the MassMutual Center (which holds 6,000). Chicopee is a suburb of Springfield, which really helps the cause for Elms if the school were to decide to rent an alternative facility and host the sectionals.

Like the league, this page has become disappointing. I'd like to know the following:
1) Who makes up Amherst's starting 5, what year in school are they, and give me two sentences on each guy. Please don't give me a page of Lord Jeff history.
2) Is there a critical game on the horizon? When do Midd and Williams play? Is Colby the clear-cut #4 team? How good is Choice?
3) What is the reaction to the new coach at Bates?
4) Does anyone from Wesleyan know that d3hoops.com exists? And, do they know how lucky they are to have Reilly?
5) Is Trinity actually bad, or is it a case of cocky meat heads playing down to their competition and getting thumped all too conistently?
6) Seems like Conn was lucky to beat Hunter last night. Alas, a win is a win this ain't BCS Football.

Please make me a "Starter." I've waived enough towels in my life.

choice is excellent. im sure some posters will take issue with the word excellent not being applied to an amherst player but i do think, especially with the way his game has elevated when in nescac season, choice is one of the premier players in the nescac. this weekend is a big one for colby. the amherst game will be a great gauge for how good they actually are.

You need 200 posts to be a starter.  It doesnt have anything to do with karma.

Hugenerd,
Thank You! Why, however, don't my "posts" increase with each new bit of hard data that pours from my fingers? This is the stuff that keeps me up at night!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They do. Watch closely.

They do, but (alas, in my opinion) your tally goes up next to ALL your posts.  A few minutes ago, all your posts showed 142; now they all read 143.

2. As previously mentioned, this Saturday's games between Amherst/Colby in Waterville and Williams/Middlebury in Middlebury will go a long way towards sorting out the top of the league. For future reference, www.nescac.com does have all of this information readily available.

I dont know that Colby is the unquestioned #4 just yet. I think they were fortunate to beat Bowdoin and Bates in the in-conference games after losing to both teams earlier in the year. We'll see how they play this weekend.

4. In four years of college I can't remember anyone from Wesleyan ever posting here.

5. Trinity is actually bad for now. Don't think there is any evidence of cockyness, and they always conducted themselves well even after they beat us. (no stomping on the A at center court for instance) It's tough to lose a talented senior class and a coach at the same time. They'll be back.

lefrak: Do you perceive yourself as CC's momma?

ummm... sure.

I know I perceive myself as bored at work.

Not that any of the information was revelatory, but I am generally against free information.

ChesterGreen, AKA big Blake Curry, posted up back in the day.

AC08, I seriously doubt NESCAC coaches are trolling around these sites looking for scouting reports, nor that any of us could provide info they couldn't easily obtain on their own.

Walzy, any all-crazy team candidates this year?
