Amh63, just send your request to Amherst's General Manager who will make sure the team has exactly what it needs ....

I don't know Gabriel, I realize it can't compare to the Centennial Conference, but NESCAC has survived fairly well over the past five years or so, given that the league has in recent memory produced two national champions, and four other teams from the conference have made the NCAA's.   Sorry for the sarcastic tone, but every year lots of non-NESCAC people bitch about NESCAC scheduling, and it gets a little old ...

amh63, interesting re: Carcieri.  He was a dominant prep player and he could provide a real boost to Amherst as a sixth man if healthy next year.

Jumpshot was not referring to me...in case anyone was wondering.

So far as I can tell Frank, no one from the Midwest cares -- you, however, have apparently been waiting for the opportunity!  Again, I don't think one year without a final four team can be equated to anything more than a blip on the radar.  If NESCAC fails to win a tourney game again next year, then you can start the questions. I would be very surprised if that happened (and even this year, Midd's loss was pretty flukish, a combination of everything that could go wrong, going wrong, at the worst possible moment).

I do think Amherst and Williams will return to being the class of the league next year (well "returning" for Williams, remaining for Amherst).  As I said before, Williams now has had a year in Maker's system, has unbelievable depth and talent at the 5 in Geoghegan, Whittington, and Timmins-Schiffman, great wing scorers in Schultz, Rubin, and Dodson, and Wang should excel as the full time point guard.   Really the only question are will they get more physical / tougher on the boards and defense, and who will be the back-ups at the guard positions?  They should be able to put up a ton of points on almost anyone.  Amherst was a very young team this year, with three frosh and two sophomores as important players.  Meehan, Wheeler, Waller, Barrise, and Holmes gives them a starting five with tremendous size, athleticism and shooting ability, and now they all have experience.  They will be tough to guard as all five are threats from 3 and four of the five can drive by folks.  Only question for Amherst is depth but the recruiting class plus the other rising sophs who didn't see time this year may address that.  Amherst may be a year away from returning to national contender status but I wouldn't sleep on them either.   I think Midd is a small step behind ... Edwards is a solid player, and they have Div I size in the front court with Davis, Sharry, and Locke, those guys will intimidate anyone in Div III especially with another year of bulk and experience, but lose so much perimeter scoring, and Rudin did it all for them, really irreplaceable.

I am a little confused because once every year for about 2-3 days nescac1 writes posts that I agree with (usually we do not see eye-to-eye on much). We are in the midst of that stretch right now.

Agree on your assessment of Frank.
Agree on your take on the league next season.
Agree on your stance on US News & World Reports rankings.
Agree on your opinion that the double round-robin debate has been killed on this forum.

Maybe it has to do with setting the clocks forward or something. I don't like it.

How do these players stack up against Ditka?

How's the WIAC doing lately? I wonder where the college that Uible went to is in the rankings?

Pat Coleman, does Frank's recent outburst qualify as an admission that this site is biased against the NESCAC? He is one of your cronies... err 'Hall of Famers'

Did anyone else think it was funny last year when Pat posted on this board that one of the NESCAC's own had been promoted to HOFer... and it was someone that none of us had ever seen post here?

Make Walzy a HOFer and I'll drop my claim... you know he deserves it.

Frank doesn't work for D3hoops.com and I've never met him. You're going to need to find other straws to grasp at.

If you had posters with Hall of Fame tendencies they would have gotten in the Hall of Fame by now. The next Northeast Hall of Famer isn't coming from the NESCAC board, that much is clear.

Shoot the messenger! I bet uible is a low-life replicant who, by definition, must have attended and now roots for some ho-hum midwestern college playing inferior, earthly quality basketball where the SAT scores at their apogee aren't up to the moonshot trajectory of the typical scores found in NESCAC - not to speak of the astronomically high scores at such unreachable planets as Amherst and Williams.

Awwww, snap.  Patty C. just called out the entire NESCAC board!  That's cold brother, cold.

Just to stir the discussions more:
I need to modify my earlier post wrt Frank.  I think, based on his postings on ephblog.com, that Frank is more like a purple cow in wolf's clothing.  I know, that is truly a hard picture to imagine.  Frank, your Ditka posting seems to be missing some content.  Please help average posters try to follow your points/thinking.  I guess that to become a HOF, one must be able to able to post brief irrelevent comments on many boards.  Frank must have won his medals on the "battlefields" of other boards...i.e. the midwest/west regions.
Anyway, can anyone update me on the future of Conn. College and other CT. schools in regards to BB?

Ahh, I guess, but there are about 10 Hall of Famers and nearly 10,000 registered posters, so not having someone in the top .1% shouldn't be considered a big slam.

As Frank has pointed out, the NESCAC prides itself on having nothing but the top .1%.  ::)

You can't gloat over the 'decline' of NESCAC academics and then get all huffy when someone wants to know where you went to school.

Of the ten commandments which is that?
