I gave you an 'applaud' I almost didn't because you knocked my real classy poetry but I decided to be a 'big' person and not wallow in the petty. I will continue to use poetry as I see fit because it's real high level. Feel free to smite.

I went back about 4-5 pages and gave all the regulars (but one) positive karma. View it as pork from your senator.
Ephoops had slipped to -13. That's absurd. I would have given him 10 pos k's if I could have. 1 pos. k will have to do for now.

2 new camels and still another recruit for Reilly and Wes in the latest NERR article:

http://www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/article/783/Commitment-CatchUp.php

I've lost track of how many that is for Reilly, but it seems like a whole squad.

In recent memory, which 'CAC team has most greatly exceeded expectations?

"In recent memory, which 'CAC team has most greatly exceeded expectations?"

Has to be Middlebury: outhouse to penthouse.

1-8 in '06

5-4 - '07 (1st round OT loss to Colby in NESCAC Tourney)

6-3 - '08 (1st round win vs Williams, 96-59)

8-1 - '09 (NESCAC Champs)

Tufts had a similarly rapid and unexpected turnaround a few years ago -- of course, it then managed to reverse course in equally dramatic fashion.  I'd say Tufts could surprise again next year (sure to be much better) except that all of the teams just above them in the standings also look like they will be improved ...

Agree on '09 Midd.

Also, Bowdoin's run to the NESCAC Finals in 2008 exceeded my expectations. Prior to that run, I thought only Trinity, Amherst and Williams were allowed to compete in the championship game.

I have thought about this more and would like to add the '05-'06 Tufts team to the list for pulling in a school record 23 wins and their first trip to the Sweet 16...sandwiched right between 16-10 and 15-10 seasons:

'05 16-10
'06 23-7 (Sweet 16)
'07 15-10
'08 11-13

And if a team exceeding expectations for a single game counts, then as an Amherst fan I would like to add Wesleyan's win over Amherst this year. Check out the past 14 contests between these schools:
1/14/03 – Amh by 25
3/1/03 – Amh by 9
1/13/04 – Amh by 27
2/21/04 – Amh by 32
1/11/05 – Amh by 22
1/21/05 – Amh by 10
1/10/06 – Amh by 35
1/20/06 – Amh by 25
1/9/07 – Amh by 24
2/3/07 – Amh by 25
1/8/08 – Amh by 20
2/9/08 – Amh by 11
1/6/09 – Wes by 3
1/16/09 – Amh by 30

"That's why you play the game."

What other games in recent NESCAC history has a team won when no one thought they were going to? There have got to be others.

While not quite as extreme I didn't think the Williams '07 team had a shot at winning the NESCAC tourny that year - I didn't think they could win either of those games against Trinity and certainly not Amherst. Was that Amherst's only loss that season?

That was their 2nd loss.  They lost at Trinity 3 games earlier.
