Time put your hands together NESCAC nation..feel the Unity..Both Amherst and Willimas fans should be pulling for Middlebury..We Midd fans are just hoping for the most healthy team to survive and represent the best dammn conference in D3..
Wolfin might have had the best half in his short career last night. 13 2nd half points and all at important times.  Locke cant get in foul trouble or be burnt on fakes once the St.Marys pt guard gets to the lane.  Patience will be important for Panthers tonight.. Cant go to the well too often on gettiing behind in the first half.
Lets Go Panthers..NEXT STOP SALEM...

Good dialogue-- a group of excellent guards in Nescac. I like Kizel. One attribute he has is that he is physically strong for a guard. Toomey needs to gets stronger which help him significantly Toomey is an excellent playmaker who I think is a terrific passer. His ability to shoot foul shots has been a tremendous benefit at the end of games. . Amherst has a commitment from an excellent guard for next year (not Mussachia who is an excellent small forward). So next year will continue to be interesting at the guard position

would it be possible to provide a name on that recruit?

I will say, although I have definitely been guilty of not pulling for NESCAC squads in the tourny before (sorry ephs, it would have been hard to see you win it all last year) I am definitely pulling for the panthers on the other side of the bracket. It would be pretty amazing if the NESCAC had two teams meet in the final. That would mean that the top three NESCAC teams would have lost only to each other all year long. Hard to believe they're only 3 games away. Hope I didn't jinx it...

I like Mid over St. Mary's 63-56.  Panthers will just be too much.
I'll take Williams in overtime over Amherst 82-81.  Give the fans their money's worth who pack into Chandler gym.

Williams leads Amherst 39-34 at the half.

St Mary's leads Middlebury 27-25 at the half. Panthers were down by 10, 23-13 with 6:14 left in the period and outscored the Seahawks 12-4 to end the half and pull within 2. Nolan Thompson with 7, Locke with 6, and Wolfin with 5 lead the Panthers.

Great first half from Williamstown.  Ephs seemed in control but Amherst stormed back, and now a five point game.  Robertson has been penetrating at will for Williams, Meehan the same for Amherst, clearly the two stars of the game so far.  Very quiet half for Whittington and Wang, although the defense has really been focusing on them for Amherst, letting the other Ephs get involved, and they have stepped up.  Williams has played very well on offense I think, on D, just so-so, a few too many penetrations allowing dishes for layups, I'd like to see the Amherst offense pushed out just a bit.  But hard to complain, Amherst is a really tough team to guard.  I don't see any reason why this one won't go down to the wire.  Two great teams, really playing well.  Wild scene in Chandler, which looks packed to the gills.

Surprised the Rochester site is NCAA tourney game eligible with those dimensions.

St. Mary's quickness and shooting giving Midd some problems early but Panthers grabbing momentum here at the end of the 1st.  In a bit of a grinder so far St. Mary's leads 27-25.

Ephs come out strong, take a 13 point lead, Jeffs get back into the game behind Meehan (12 pts). 39-34 at half time.

Robertson has been Williams' best player. 13 points, 5 boards. Really covering for Wang, who has a little bit of foul trouble.

Hoping the Ephs can pull away in the second.

Midd trails St. Mary's by 2 at the half, 27-25.

Refs letting a lot go. Whistled St. Mary's 7 times, could have been twice that. This is a big advantage to a trapping team, and the Seahawks have taken advantage. Despite the hacking, Midd needs to cut down on the turnovers....far too many.

St. Mary's is also taking advantage of the insanely shallow baseline. Several turnovers have resulted from the defender being right on top of the inbounder. Refs finally started moving them back late in the half.

Well, Midd has been a second half team all year. Let's go Panthers!

Bucket

Just like last night Midd comes put on fire, scoring first 7 points of second half.

Up 5, 15:00 to play.

Bucket

Midd up 9, 44-35, just under 10 to play.

Bucket

Midd up 11 after a monster Andrew Locke dunk off a beautiful feed from Kizel. Just under 7 to play.

Williams holds off Amherst by a score of 77-71.

FINAL FOUR!!!!!  I'll see everyone in Salem.  Can't wait to meet some of the Midd posters -- I assume we'll be doubling our rooting power and cheering for each other in the semis????

Hell of a win for Williams.  Just played spectacular team ball.  Gutty game by Troy Whittington, clearly limited by a hand injury, yet played through it.  Wang played very steady, smart, ball.  But the game balls go to James Klemm and especially Nate Robertson.  Klemm made the play of the game with a ridiculous double-clutch four point play, absolutely sick, and Robertson just totally dominated the game.   What a day for a career game, and really, Nate was absolutely incredible all weekend.  Eph fans have been singing his praises all year, saying that when he is needed, he steps up in a huge way, and boy did he ever today.   Simply incredible game, Amherst just had no answer for him.  Nate had battled through an elbow and ankle injury this year, but the kid is tough as nails and has as high a hoops IQ as I have ever seen as an Eph fan.  Williams played tough on D making Amherst take uncomfortable shots in the second half.

Four NCAA meetings with Amherst, four wins.  Doesn't get much better than this!  Here's hoping for an all-NESCAC title game, which would be an absolute war!!!!!   Go Ephs!!!!

Middlebury wins 65-50 over St.Mary's to advance to the Final Four.

One more comment:  how clutch was James Klemm all through the NCAA's?  He had a bit of a funk late in the season, but came back with a vengeance in the tourney.  Every time the Ephs needed a huge bucket, they seemed to call a play for Klemm and he came through.  Can't stress enough how huge the four point play was.  Amherst was on a big run, seemed to be taking control, and to draw a foul, have the presence of mind to double clutch, and then just nail the three was insane.

I just hope Troy's hand injury isn't too bad, it certainly looked rough.  No doubt he'll play, but if he has to play one handed, that would be rough.  Hope to hear a report on that from the Eph fans in the know ...
