Colby Hoops

Colby has their women's bball team coach's job posted also.  Do you think that is a serious posting or are they going through the motions only to hire the interim coach?  Will they name an interim coach for the men or try to hire the permanent coach?

No idea about the women's team, I know they had a good season and that their previous coach who turned the program around had left the year before.  As far as the men's team, I don't think they would hire an interim, it seems that because Whitmore left with practically the whole offseason to find a coach, that there would be no need for an interim coach.

Another possible candidate for the Colby job would be 05 alum Jamie Snyder-Fair. He has been an assistant at Amherst, Washington and Lee, and is currently at Yale. You'd think he'd get a look, particularly with Bates going young in their recent hire and the fact that he has coaching/recruiting experience with similar types of athletes. Being an alum can only help. Not to mention, other former NESCAC assistants (notably Flockerzi) being successful in their first jobs after stints as assistants.

Good luck to the NESCAC teams this weekend. And Pat, any word on when the standings for the d3 pick em will be posted?

Nice call Marty P.
Converse all-stars are making a comeback among the young and "fashionable".  Being neither, I have a black pair of lowcuts...that are slip ons.  Wear them when I walk on BB floors.

Do you mean how soon after the finals? Not sure -- I will try to nudge the guy who does it but I must admit it's not at the top of the priority list.

An article about (by fellow Eph Tim Layden) and a video interview with Coach Paulsen, both focusing in part on his time at Williams.  Good to hear despite his busy schedule he managed to watch the video of the Amherst-Williams game!

Here is a link to connect to the NCAA webcast of all of the games from Salem as well as the women's final four:

Interesting set of rosters for the all star game at 1:00 on Saturday.  Connor Meehan better be prepared to play a lot because he is only one of 2 guards on the East roster, which has a lot of height, while the West roster is exactly the opposite.  Should make for an interesting game.

Old Guy

Road trip: drove 400 miles from Midd to Carlisle PA today on my way (with a basketball buddy) to Salem tomorrow. I've never been to Carlisle: beautiful town and college (Dickinson). 66 degrees. We have time to check out the Gettysburg battlefield tomorrow (23 miles from here) before heading to Salem. Should be a great weekend of hoop.

Bucket

A bit of Bucket trivia for Old Guy: my sister went to Dickinson.

I'm actually not too far away from my Midd friend tonight. Am in Hershey, speaking at a conference of communications professionals tomorrow a.m.

I hope to be done by noon, then will be heading down I-81 toward Salem. Picking up parents in Lexington, 45 miles north of Roanoke, reconvening with Mrs. Bucket and the Panthers Biggest Little Fan in Salem. Plan on meeting up with a childhood friend and his wife who have been deputized as Midd fans for the weekend.

Can't wait.

Old Guy....Gettysburg is home to Gettysburg College.   Your town for the night is also the site of the Army War College and the place of some great football teams played by Indians in an old Indian school (sort of like Dartmouth of yore).  When you go by Lexington Va. on I-81 it is the home of Washington & Lee and VMI.  Salem Va. is the home of Roanoke College.  Enjoy the weather.  It should reach in the mid 70's on Friday.  May look for you on Sat. when I arrive.   The key incentive is that Midd. will play on Sat......against Williams for a all NESCAC finals.

Go Ephs. Go Panthers.

Also, congrats to Meehan, Sharry, and Wang on making NABC's first team All-NE, and to Whittington for winning another POY award.

More importantly, it's also where Bucket grew up.  :)

Congrats to Sean Hoffman for being named to the "Elite 88" for his academic performance.  A 3.8 gpa at Williams is no joke, even without playing a varsity sport to boot:

I like what little I've seen from Hoffman as a player, as well, tall, athletic, a good rebounder and defender, stuck behind a lot of talented guys at the five, but I think he will be an asset next year.

To add to the Dickinson love, I spent five summers there either attending or working at a summer program.  Great times, great memories.

Heading to Salem shortly!  Look forward to seeing folks down there.   Go Ephs!  Hope they can bring home the walnut and bronze, but all four teams are deserving and I think both games today will go down to the wire.

congratulations to Troy Whittington (first team), Ryan Sharry (second team) and Conor Meehan (third team) for making Start Farm All Americas see http://www.nabc.org/genrel/031811aad.html

Bucket....never guessed that you are a true son of the South.  A Virginian too!  Washington and Lee is a fine school.  Too close to home?  Enjoyed W&L's campus.  One of my sons gave a paper there his senior year.  Gave me a chance to see the town when I went to hear his presentation.
