Boston Globe All -Scholastic and also ESPN Boston All State public schools men's basketball links for Amherst recruit Joe Mussachia

I believe David Hixon has already announced when interviewed on D3 radio show that he has two accepted recruits for the coming year, one is Joe Mussachia.

I believe the other recruit is another guard. It is not Gene Garay the player from Long Island who does appear to be superquick, 5 10 guard and is a also an All State wide receiver- if did play basketball I could see coming off the bench as a tough, fast player - might be good match to defensively cover Wang of Williams.

Nice article on Coach Maker by a Williams Prof:

http://www.frumforum.com/the-anti-jim-calhoun

Interesting re: the Trinity class.  I figured they would have a huge class with a new coach and only six returning players (at most) next year.  But the composition of the class so far seems odd -- 5 out of 6 guys are swingmen between 6'2 and 6'4.  And Trinity's top two returning players are both 6'3-6'4 swingmen.  So a lot of those guys figure to sit the bench for 3-4 years.  But it's certainly nice to have depth.  I imagine Trinity must be bringing in a few big guys as well, maybe from out of region.

Amherst's class sounds strong, I figure they probably have another player or two in the hopper, as they usually add someone late, although after three straight large 5-7 guy recruiting classes, the roster probably doesn't have room for another big group.  Barry if as good as reputed (what D-1 offers did he have?) will likely play right away as a back-up PG.  Joe M. sounds very talented, but Amherst is loaded at the swing positions with Barrise, Waller, Workman, Williamson all returning, plus Killian likely to earn more time, so he may have to wait a year.

Hopefully Williams will land a few more guys soon ... fairly quiet year from Midd so far as well.

A few Williams recruiting notes.  This page notes that 6'5 PF Parker Semin (another Colorado player for the Ephs) committed to Williams:

Interview with Semin here:

This article mentions another Williams recruit (previously mentioned here), 6'5 wing Daniel Wohl:

Interesting that in three recruiting years, Coach Maker has brought in no recruits from traditional Eph recruiting strongholds New England, New Jersey and New York, focusing on the west coast, the south, and the midwest instead.

I don't believe this has been mentioned here, oddly.  Tufts alum Pat Skerry joins former Eph Dave Paulsen in the D-1 head coaching ranks:

Here's some more info on Bowdoin recruit Keegan Pieri as well as Bates' recruit Graham Safford. Both have recently been named to all-Maine teams (Safford to the first team and Pierir to the second team).

Hoopdirt.com is reporting that Mike Maker and four Princeton Alum/assistant coaches are involved with the Princeton job. I hope (selfishly) that Princeton does their usual papering of the file with outsiders and picks from within the Princeton family for their next coach, as they have the last three times. Maker has done such a wonderful job at Williams that I hope we can keep him for a couple of more years. He is too good a coach to expect to keep him forever.

I would think that Georgetown Assistant coach Mike Brennan would have the inside track on the Princeton HC job. He is, of course, from that Princeton family . .

Sydney Johnson and Joe Scott were both from the Princeton family, too. How'd those two hires  work out for the Tigers?

Among the names being bandied about, Maker is the only one with head coaching experience in the mix. Add that to his experience in the Ivy League (top assistant at Dartmouth when the Big Green was competitive) and big-time college hoops (West Virginia), and he's far and away the most attractive candidate. The only thing he doesn't have is being from "the Princeton family." And that's not necessarily a negative this time around.

Coach Maker's positive interaction with his players before they left the court after the devastating final four loss is what coaching, at any level, should be about.  Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Any news on Midd recruiting for next year?
