love the production/music choices. he does look speedy, and he clearly has some skills finishing once he gets to the hoop, but its obviously a different game against nescac defenders

Article on Daniel Wohl and Hunter Merryman, high school teammates who will suit up for Williams and Midd, respectively, next year.  Each sound like great fits for the respective teams, Wohl a great shooter and Merryman a physical inside player.  I imagine Merryman might end up as a multi-sport athlete for Middlebury given his success in football and baseball and his size.

Nice article.  Merryman 6'6" scoring 20 ppg in high school sounds good to Midd supporters.  In recent years, Midd has brought in some pretty decent freshman who have earned significant minutes.  If this kid proves that he can bang inside, score a bit off of that and play ther type of D that Brown has made his hallmark over the past few season, he may well be another one.  Remember Hunter, cutting down the nets at Williams trumps their regualr season win big time.

Whoa, might there be any relation to a certain amherst homer on this board?

amh63

If I would make a guess, NO....but who knows when it comes to outstanding athletic players.  Walzy.....what are the odds here?
There has been a bit of posting on the WBB side with respect to the new WBB coach at Colby.  Any info/rumors, etc. with respect to the future MBB coach at Colby?

Any recruiting confirmations  or news in NESCAC  and / or NEWMAC

According to Amherst College Men's Basketball Facebook page, Alex Levine, a 6 foot, 8 inch forward/Center postgraduate player at Phillips Exeter has committed to Amherst College. Appears to be a talented bigman who initially attended Weston High School, Weston, MA. Tobin Anderson is leaving Hamilton to assist at Siena

I'm back. Had to quit D3 basketball cold turkey for a few weeks after walking out of Chandler in March. Thank goodness for D1 March Madness, Opening Day, the NFL Draft, The Masters, NHL Playoffs, NBA Playoffs and the royal wedding. Congratulations to Middlebury, Williams and Amherst for putting together FINE basketball seasons. I predict more of the same next year.

I am not related to Danny Wohl and if I were I would renounce my relation. I am also sick to my stomach at the thought of reading about his contributions to the Ephs program for four years. Selfishly, I hope he is like a Casey Gibbons or Sumant Bhat.

Lefrakenstein, I loved the work you put into the preseason preview for next year. Good stuff and very helpful to reference for all of us fanatics during the summer. I agree with everything said about all the teams. I think it is too difficult to differentiate the top 3 at this point, but it is easy to say that they will not lose any conference games to non big three teams. The one thing I disagree with is where you put Trinity. They are going to be good again next year and will finish 4th or 5th. They certainly won't miss the NESCAC tournament (I don't think Amherst, Williams or Trinity has ever finished 9th or worse).

The most troubling thing I see in the NESCAC next year requires help and support from all of us.
Colby.
What are we going to do about them? They go 2-7 in league and, as Lefrakenstein mentioned, they graduate Russell and Van Loenin. Their head coach of 40 years preferred to retire rather than coach them. Unless they bring in an ENORMOUS freshman class of guys that can play right away including the ROY, then they will go 0-9. I'm worried about them.

Pat Coleman

0-10. Or 1-9 with a win against Hamilton. I believe that starts next season.

Colby Hoops

No doubt it will be a tough year for Colby next year, lost a lot of talent, and several of the guys they brought in who were expected to be big time players have been less than that because of injuries or other reasons.  Still, while they will likely have a tough time competing next year, a new coach brings hope in terms of recruiting and rebuilding.  Going through a rough stretch with an established coach in his last years would be far more difficult to sell potential recruits on.  I'm expecting that Colby will have a new coach announced sometime in the near future, and at least by the alumni basketball weekend for Whitmore's retirement in June.

Interesting note that the Hamilton coach left.  They had at least 8 players quite within the last two or three years, with quite a few of them starters or important players.

Major Hoople

Any rumors about Jeff Brown leaving Middlebury for the head coaching job at UVM, which just opened up?  Certainly, he's a likely candidate.

Bucket

I think there are two NESCAC head coaches who will be leading candidates at UVM. This should be interesting...

grabtherim

Bucket - You have to be pointing to Maker, correct??  If so, alums of both will be rooting for their rival's coach to get the gig.
