Was waiting until Bucket's running posts of the Midd. game ended.  The last 56 seconds will take 3 minutes or more.
Amherst beats Bates by 13 in Maine.  Like the other conference games, it was close at the half..Amherst has a 3 point lead.  In the second half, Amherst builds a lead slowly and it reaches double digits.  In the last two minutes, Amherst tries to slow the game down and run out the clock.  Bates starts to foul to get the ball back.  The lead grows to 13 and Toomey is fouled and goes for a 1 and 1.  Coach Hixon picks up his jacket....game over, Walzy's spread is ok.  Wait Toomey misses the front end.  Amherst gets the ball again and Toomey is fouled....a hard foul...Hixon wants an intentional foul.  Toomey misses the front end shot again and is taken out to avoid injury.  Game ends on a Bates missed shot and an Amherst rebound by Holmes.

Rick Vaughn

Followed box scores throughout the night. Noticed two big absences. Michael Mayer didn't play for Williams and Ben Ferris was out for Tufts. Any updates?

Looks like Tufts - Trinity was the game of the night in the 'CAC. Tufts holds on to win by two thanks to a jumper by Kwame Firempong on the last play of the game. They'll hold on to third place. Trinity led almost the entire game up until about 5 minutes to go.

Old Guy

Bowdoin-Midd: nother game when I felt like I should go stand next to the defibrillator. Like Williams, a well-played game between two good teams. Big crowd, nearly a full house, even though we're on break after winter term. Hanley had a big second half (18 points), practically unstoppable on the right block, coming across the middle with his left hand. It's one thing to know what he's going to do, quite another to stop it. If we doubled he passed out to O'Connell on the perimeter who went 5-5 from three.

Swords, the 7' frosh, is pretty good, played 15 minutes, 6 points, 5 rebounds. Really big (understatement). More athletic than I thought he was from watching him on the web. He and Hanley made a couple of nice low post connections.

Kizell was a force, 26 points (8-13, 3-6, 7-8). Sharry was 7-11, 19 points, and 13 rebounds. Wolfin had 6 assists.

A exhausted Midd parent said after the game, "I don't want to see any of these guys again (Bowdoin, Williams, Tufts, Wesleyan)." Could be a great tournament.

Great game, very exciting.

Anybody watch the Conn vs Hamilton game?  Seemed pretty close (2 pts-can't get much closer) but with the win at least Hamilton in contention for the the 8th spot.  Not familiar with the playoff format in the NESCAC but I believe only 8 play?  Correct? At this point Trinity (again I assume) has the tie break with the head to head victory?  BUt at least the door is open for the Continentals. A loss tonight would have Maxwell Smarted their nose!!

Unless the conference states otherwise (which I haven't seen) it's still the top 8.  And since the NESCAC only has 1 conference game between each teams, figuring out the tiebreakers is the easiest in any conference throughout any NCAA division; whoever won the game that counts in the standings is the team that wins the tiebreaker.  Since Trinity won the head to head meeting, Trinity would get the spot should they and Hamilton tie for 8th.

Love the "uncomplicated part unless Colby beats Conn on the 10th".  3 way tie for 8th with Colby over Trinity, Trinity over Hamilton and Hamilton over Colby..... Coin flip?  Royal rumble last team standing?  Point differential? Trinity because it will be easier for them to get to Middlebury for their thrashing? The possibilities are endless! ;D

Great to have the video of that shot. Looked like Carter Trent actually played really strong D on Firempong, made him take an awfully tough shot with a hand in his face. Went in though. Great finish.

The three-way tie tiebreaker procedure:

3-way or more tie:
1. Best record among tying teams, against one another (head-to-head).
2. Most conference wins (in games that are part of the conference schedule and count toward league standings).
3. Comparison of results of conference games played against top 4 teams (including all teams at the 4th spot).
4. Comparison of results of conference games played against top 8 teams (including all teams at the 8th spot).
5. Comparison of results of conference games played against conference teams in rank order. Comparisons shall be
made one team at a time starting with the highest ranked team.
6. If the tie remains after comparing results against the highest ranked team, the results against the next team in rank
order shall be used. This process is continued until a winner is determined.
7. Coin flip (or similar random action involving all tied teams).

I think it's pretty much impossible to get to a coin flip.

Here it is.....with three more conference games to go.. and after very close games on Friday.  The posts are trying to figure out tiebreaker situations?  Give the older fans....like me some relief.
Old Guy...glad you caught some of the game.  Hope young guy's game went well.
Seems that Williams had the easiest time from the score.  Why is Alumni gym in Bates so warm.  Is it just the bodies?
