What does Wesleyan need to do to get an at large bid?

We all know Ferris is the clear choice for ROY. If there was an all-rookie team what would it look like?

They have to beat Middlebury.  It's the only thing they can do at this point - and hope for no upsets anywhere else.

They could just beat Midd and amherst and get the automatic bid.

Hardly out of the question, with a one point win and a two point loss against Amherst and a tight (3 pts) loss to Midd. They won't be intimidated.

Alas, I can't get to Amherst on Saturday, domestic duties - but can on Sunday. Wishing the Panthers well. The Cardinals are flying, but this Middlebury group always gives a good effort.

I agree with OldGuy - Wes has been building and they know they can play with anyone in the league.   Having split the games with Amherst and Williams and taking Midd to the wire, they have the ability and coaching to do it.

I will pick:
Wes and over
Amherst and under

With 3 out of 4 hit last week (Tufts was my coin flip choice), I believe I am 4-2 against Walzy's spreads.  No easy choices this week.  I don't see Bates with a real shot at winning.  I think Amherst is simply too deep for them, but 11.5 is a big number.  That being said, I will still go with the Lord Jeffs at home in a big win, with a chance to rest their starters for Sunday.  In my view the 2nd game is a tossup.  Midd and Wes played a tough hardnosed game in an almost non-partisan Wes gym as their students were on break when the game was played.  I don't see Wes as a team just happy to be where they are.  They are tough and talented, and I see Reilly as a future D1 coach.  Despite all of this, my heart and the experience of the Panthers in games like this has me laying the points on the boys from Middlebury to make their 4th NESCAC Final in a row.

Hard to believe on the day of the Semis - no one is posting - probably all driving to Amherst.  Going to the last game of the day - I hope I can find a place to squeeze in.

Even though I was a Panther (during the short/shorts era - pre three point line) I am casting my lot with the Cardinals.   They are a smart, gritty team, having a special run this year.  Midd will get it's third loss tonight.  Pat better save room for a banner headline tomorrow.

Ater the last post from a Midd. alumnus that now roots for Wes.....what is there to post!......especially when his handle points to Bowdoin and a bird?

Second half starting soon and Amherst leads 49-36 over Bates.  The Lord Jeffs are shooting lights out from three point range.

Amherst advances 97-74 over Bates.

It is halftime and Midd leads Wesleyan by 15 at half 42-27.  The Panthers broke open a  3 pt game with a 12-0 run late in the half.  Otherwise a very even game.

Middlebury with back to back to back to back three's by Jake Wolfin, Nolan Thompson, Wolfin again, and Ryan Sharry open up a 40-25 point lead over Wesleyan with 1:06 to go.  They go into the break with the Panthers up 42-27. Middlebury outscored the Cardinals 20-6 in the final 6 minutes of the period. Sharry with 10 points, Wolfin with 8, Joey Kizell and Thompson with 7 each.

Glen Thomas leads Wesleyan with 10 points. Shasha Brown and Mike Callaghan have 6 each.

Middlebury up over Wesleyan 42-27 at the half.  Pretty tight game through the first 15 minutes before Middlebury opened it up with 4 straight 3's.

On the plus side for Wes, the Cardinal goon squad of Thomas (10 and 4) and Callaghan (6 and 2) are playing well and Brown really hasnt shown much.  Fully expect Brown and the other Wesleyan guards to show us something in the coming half.

In regards to Amherst v Bates, Toomey's growth has been pretty remarkable to watch this past season.  After playing a year as a talented role player, he's really come on and begun to carve his own place in Amherst history... a pretty tall order for any Amherst point guard, especially as a sophomore
