Bates just posted their updated roster for this year.  The rumors appear to be true - they have 7 FY's on the roster; 4 of them are 6'-5" or taller.  It looks like Coach Furbush has found the front court depth he was looking for.

More importantly, the rumor that The Highlander has joined the Bates program has been confirmed.  Immortality surely comes in handy on the hardwood.

....well it certainly can't hurt ;)

Based on the " highlander" name connection here and the Thor connection on the football board, I can only say that Nescac 1 has an interesting video collection.  Could be worst. :)....but again, no player named Boris has been listed yet.
Back to reality...Amherst schedule has been filled in for its tournament.  Will face Newbury College, a member of the same conference as Southern VT.  Should be interesting to see who gets playing time.

Amherst season preview is out.  Two names not on the roster, Logan Buckner and Ray Barry.  Both these guys were injured and did not allow them to really factor into the rotations.  Should open door for frosh to get minutes.

Should have waited a hour to see the roster and all.  It is interesting that the returning players have not been updated wrt to size/ weight as was the case in the Williams' post.

Yes, what are the LJs hiding......?   Full disclosure.

Yes, but for the sake of both NESCAC and IWU, NOT before Salem! ;D

Agreed.  I was hoping that Amherst might be a little weaker this year coming off the NC and with the key players they lost but it doesn't look that way.  Coach Hixon has recruited very well and the LJ's look to be every bit as tough this year as last.

The P'bears will definitely have their work cut out for them....

Lumbercat, there is a "Connor McLeod" on the Bates roster -- Connor McLeod happens to be the (immortal) protagonist in The Highlander ... which, if you have never seen, I weep for you.  Just trying to bring a little levity, since it appears that Walzy has departed the premises.  On an actual basketball level, the Bates recruits that I am most curious to see play are the Delpeche brothers.  Look like they have good size and athleticism, and Bates has a glaring hole in the middle which they and the other big first year (Eaton, yet another Exeter alum in NESCAC) should have a chance to fill right away.

The high praise for a first year player (George) by Hixon is unusual, and speaks volumes of his potential to be an early-impact guy in NESCAC.   Despite the loss of Kaasila and Buckner, Amherst looks absolutely loaded at the five this year and in particular for years to come between Pollack, Sanderson, George, and Nabatoff.  A luxury to have so many big guys with skills.

Thanks for sharing that.  Sounds like he is a very grounded young man.  Good luck to him in the future.
