Wesleyan beat Emmanuel and Bates crushing Thomas, giving the NESCAC a couple of OOC wins tonight.

Old Guy

Epps had 17 rebounds (again!) and frosh pg Rafferty played 38 minutes and went 12-12 from the line in Wesleyan's 10 point win over 0-3 Emmanuel. Glen Thomas played nine minutes - no points, no rebounds.

Bates's height, the Delpeche twins, had 31 points and 13 rebounds in 35 combined minutes in the Bobcats' 60 point blowout. Probably doesn't mean a lot in such a one-sided affair, but they're freshmen, it's early, and such a game certainly won't reduce their confidence.

Nice article in Boston Magazine, if you can not root for the Boston Celtics, an alternative to watch is D3 hoops

It's worth noting that the BoMag post is written by one of the PantherNation fellas. Well done, Damon!

FYI...the Amherst game at 6pm will have a webcast.  Go to the Amherst athletic site for the local link.
The Midd game will start around 15 min. earlier.  Good video and pro announcers vice who knows on the Amherst jeffcast network.  The Amherst site will be busy this weekend with soccer, WBB and MBB coverage....as the Thanksgiving break starts on Sat.
Good luck to the conf. teams.....Oh yes...did I state that I plan to go watch the Panthers live on Sunday?  If I can find the place north of Baltimore.

I'm not sure that the Midd-Stevenson video link is working?  I can't get on it.  Maybe the game is running late?

The link worked fine right up to about 8 minutes before game time then it froze and continues to fail to load.  I'm glad it's not just my problem but certainly wish that it was not a problem at all. ::)

working perfectly for me.  is yours ok now, Vandy?

I wonder if the game has started?  Live Stats show 0-0.

10-5 Stevenson early.  Midd has sloppy turnovers.

I'm at the Midd game. Behind the scorers table in red.  Stevenson is playing good D, but Midd looks lost on offense.

Coach Jeff Brown is likely to ...discuss.. more effective passing on offense during the half.  Chris Churchill demonstrates the value to big guy depth as he picked up 3 fouls that otherwise may have gone to Daley and Roberts.

Officiating is, umm, confusing in many different ways.  Midd bigs need to play smarter, they're on the wrong end of some calls, but they're not making great decisions either. Midd definitely on the losing end of bad calls right now, but I don't see bias, just some bad sight lines by officials. Impressed by Brown, though, great young player.

Officiating is head scratching, for sure. And it seems that these refs have abandoned the season's emphasis on hand-checking, etc. Not that I mind that at all; it's just got to be confusing to the players. And while Midd seems to have gotten the bum end of many of these calls (though not all), it doesn't seem like bias, either. More like...somehow not seeing what is right in front of them.

Stevenson playing w/ more energy, confidence, feeding off the home crowd. Midd definitely pressing, looking more like a team trying not to lose rather than aggressively and confidently playing loose basketball. They can turn that around in the second half, I'd like to think. That was about as poor of a half of basketball that I can see this team playing, so to be down just 4 points is not a bad place to be.
