Mayer's team won - 11 pts, 9 rbs in 20 mins

Toomey's team lost but looks like he is still out.

Former Bowdoin player Will Hanley in now the starting SG for Gipuzkoa.  In their first game Hanley played 20 minutes and finished with 7 points and 3 rebounds.

Is SG "shooting guard"? Hanley a shooting guard? He never shot threes at Bowdoin, nor often handled the ball in the backcourt. Always went left. He was a slasher, great around the hoop. That's my recollection. He can play guard?

P'bearfan

I'm assuming SG = shooting guard.  Agree that this is change in his style of play as he mainly scored inside while at Bowdoin (or so I'm told).  Hanley worked with a shooting coach in Atlanta a couple years ago and this apparently greatly improved his outside shot.

Hopefully I can catch a game soon and see how he's doing.

Bowdoin's schedule has not been posted but it looks like the P'bears will open the season at the Westfield State tournament on Nov 15 and 16.  Bowdoin will play Elms College on the 15th and then either Manhattanville or Westfield State on the 16th.

Can't wait for the season to start!

Wil Hanley, in fact, still plays power forward, or ala-pivot in Español. The Eurobasket site is pretty good at reporting rosters and stats, but not so much on who starts and at what position.
Will has been starting this year and last week was the leading scorer with 18 against heavy favorite Real Madrid. His team lost 90-76.

Thanks for the clarification and glad to hear that Hanley is doing so well.  His progress in such a short time is a great story.

I saw the folks from D3 Hoops shared this link on Facebook.  Great story of courage shown by a young athlete while facing the worst possible news.  A must watch, sobering, uplifting and heartbreaking all at the same time...

Not directly NESCAC related.....Grantland has an interesting article on the statistics of rebounding...just in case my team analyses didn't include enough data for you ;)

So to tie this to the NESCAC who do you think will be the top 3 rebounding teams in the conference this year?  My picks:

1) Trinity
2) Bowdoin
3) Amherst

madzillagd

I think Tufts makes the top 3 in rebounding with Palleschi back.  Sabety tries to block a lot of shots which brings down his rebounding totals for a guy with the size and athleticism he has.  But, if you have Palleschi on the floor at the same time I think that boosts both of their numbers.

Just like you wrote - all of the above.

For the real oldtimers(amh63), I was intrigued also by the name and city of the female co-anchor(Dierking/Cincinnati); looks like she's the daughter of Connie Dierking, center on Big O's college team and NBA/ABA player later traded for Wilt

Hate highlight tapes, but this one is quite revealing.  Force this kid to his right hand until he proves that it's a heck of a lot better than shown.  Goes left with confidence, right not so much, and even took layups with his left hand from the right side.  He should spend this season and summer working on his right until his arm falls off.
