Watched the quarter finals games of both Amherst teams in LeFrak.  Nice to see the double header again and the larger crowd.  As Old Guy mentioned, so many sport teams are busy trying to extend their seasons now which impacts the student/ fan support at Amherst.
The other posters covered the Amherst- Bowdoin game well and cannot add much.
The staggered broadcast times allowed me to check in on several other games.  So it will be another Midd-Amherst matchup...on a neutral court this time.  Should prove interesting.  Hoping to see Matt Daley available....both teams at full strength and heathy.
Got a little excited when Colby was ahead at half time.
Looked over the stats of the games played in the quarter finals.  Several interesting stats trends.
Most of the winning teams were out rebounded by the losing teams!  See Bowdoin game as a prime case.  Defensive related stats were key for the winning teams...blocks, steals, fewer TOs.

Only if both teams make the finals!

Midd plays Trinity and Amherst plays Tufts in the semis.

Congratulations to Amherst on their victory yesterday.  As others have pointed out their 3 point shooting was very good and the difference in the game.

The Polar Bears should be proud of themselves. They played a very competitive game against a nationally ranked and very deep team despite not shooting well from behind the arc and not having two point guards available for action.  Once again, a tremendous amount of credit goes to Coach Gilbride and his staff for their ability to get this team, which includes many young players, to gel together and play such high quality ball.

Congratulations as well to seniors  Jake Donnelley, Lucas Hausman, and Matt Palecki on your very successful Bowdoin careers.  You have left a strong foundation for the rest of the team to build upon.

GoUBears!!

Watching the Celtics, I am reminded of how much fun it is to have a jv team at Williams. Somebody recently reminded me of the day in a jv game a few years ago when Isaiah Thomas, now an all star with the Celtics, played a game, with South Kent, in our old gym. I was reminded that Mike Moorstein, a terrific classmate of Blake Schultz, Joe Geoghegan, and the rest of those seniors who went to the final game in 2010, was tasked with keeping Thomas out of the lane. After the first few possessions of the game, Williams called a timeout, where our coach again asked Moorstein to keep Thomas out of the lane. Mike replied "Coach, there is no way I will ever be able to keep that guy out of the lane!" It appears nobody else has been able to keep Thomas out of the lane. There have been an awful lot of really good players at our gym, playing against our jv.

Matt Hart career milestone 1000 points accomplished in a unique way. 881 at Hamilton, 124 and counting at GW.
11 points 3 boards 2 assists and a steal tonight vs Duquesne.

Coulda woulda shoulda, but imagine where Hamilton would have been had he stayed. Congrats to Matt. He's a talented player and he pursued his dream.

Hadn't noticed the above...very neat...Of course there may be  couple of fans that feel there is a guy at Michigan that would have helped Williams a little too? ;D

Can we assume that there will be some commentary on the upcoming NESCAC semi finals before too long?  Very quiet on here.

You would think Williams hired a football coach or something ...

JEFFFAN, no political pressure to change your name?  I guess PURPLEANDWHITEFAN is a little too unwieldy.

JEFFFAN....nice post...clever!  Plus K :)
Was on a house tour of old big central Florida  mansions yesterday...don't ask!  Did get to chat with a number of other guys about sports...Michigan State, South Carolina...football mainly.  Met two ladies that are graduates of Virginia....go Hoos remarks caught their attention with smiles in response.  Did get back to the Nescac a bit....the South Carolina alum..his wife also a grad...has a boss in NYC that he meets up with that is a Williams alum.  Asked me how Amherst was doing against Williams.  He smiled when I mentioned recent football results. He is a baseball fan too. He runs an org that distribute comic strips to papers. Not much basketball talk here...college baseball scores even in local paper.
Nescac talk?  Am a little concerns about the matchup with Tufts.  Div 1 top team was " upset" by No.  5 last night...both Big East members...strange to me.  Bucket...see Virginia is up to No.3!
Middlebury has a big incentive in their game with Trinity.  In the latest Regional rankings, Middlebury is ranked!  If teams like Babson, ECSU win their tournaments and Middlebury reaches the Title game, I think the Panthers has a good chance to get a post-season bid.
Why? ..... Matchups.  Believe Middlebury matches up well with Trinity.  Yes,  I believe Amherst also matchup well with Tufts and Coach Hixon will have his players ready.  Think there is a possibility that another senior Captain will be available for duty in the front court.  Still, got my fingers crossed.  Maybe on the road when the game is played on Sat. :'(

Only because things are so quiet, here is the link to the Middlebury-Trinity preview. Hopefully it gets some conversation going. Quotes from both coaches are in there too.

Terrific preview, very thorough, by Joe MacDonald, Midd '16, co-captain of the baseball team.
