Three things: (1) Congrats to Duncan, one of the good guys (2) Rudy?  The myths are greater than the non-Hollywood version.  Duncan > Rudy on both counts, and (3) that's Miami, not MSG.

Ok, so who is working on the movie script?  This is a better story than Rudy.

It was against the Knicks, however, in AA Arena in Miami. I'm cool to pull a classic disney move and run with that it happened at MSG though if you guys are! ...What a day

NESCAC1 - I am too young to remember Leo Jones (or Kanem Johnson for that matter), haha, so I'lll take your word for it. I've never been one that is afraid to use hyperbole, but I do think Hutcherson has a good chance to be the Wesleyan GOAT when its all said and done.

Patron is an absolute bowling ball. Fun to watch players bounce off of him when he decides to put his head down and get to the rim. I had never seen Ryan Bruns (first team center from Ohio Northern) and I was bored here at work so I decided to watch some of his highlights - that guy is really good too. 6'8" and very well-built, soft touch around the rim, can step out and shoot; not many holes in his game. Also, really impressed with these OAC playoff crowds from his clips. Bruns' last two games last year were against John Carroll and Marietta and both were PACKED. In fact, JC game was the best crowd for a d3 game Ive seen from last season. Looked electric. Need more of that in the 'CAC.

D'oh.  Not sure how I made that mistake re: MSG.

Leo Jones could flat-out ball.  He was three-time first-team all NESCAC in one of the all-time great eras in NESCAC hoops (Tabb, Tatum, Zieja, Crotty, Coffin, Harper, heck, even Conn was a national power back then).  But Hutcherson has a chance for sure to do even more if his game grows.

Speaking of the 2003 era I recall the crowds in Nescac (other than Midd which had yet to emerge) being a bit more lit back then.  Not sure what has changed.

I gotta dig up some Leo Jones highlights from somewhere. What an era overall though, talk about some all-timers - Sheeesh!

Decided to take a peak into the conference websites....too early for rosters, etc.. Saw that Bowdoin has a new asst. coach.  Seems his bio points to a defensive type coach.  Amherst has not announced a new assistant coach hire...yet.  Both previous W&L hires were more front court type coaches.
Will be checking around at other school sites in the near future.

That Cole-Prowitt story about Amherst and Williams is a bit of an odd story
He was never going to go to Amherst.  Amherst hasn't had a men's basketball player with a hyphenated last name in 25+ years.  I don't have the analogous stats for Williams, but I feel like there were a few, and even if there weren't, CP-S just sounds like the name of a 2 or 3 for the Ephs.  Not a shocker for students of the game.
#3 for 3...good!

Haha, Daoustian!  I can think of two: Ethan Timmins-Schiffman and Hayden Rooke-Ley.  If CPS has a career similar to Hayden (minus all of the bad luck with injuries, which kept Hayden from putting up some monster career stats) I think Eph fans would be delighted.

"Hutcherson is obviously awesome! In fact, all in all, he is probably the most talented player we have ever had at Wesleyan."

Even better than Winky Davenport?

(Some guys on this board are really old!)

Don't CAC schools not start practicing until Thursday anyways??  Doubt we'd see any rosters until probably NEXT weekend for CAC schools.  I don't even think any teams start before the 10th do they??

However I'm looking through the d2 schools and there's one school that has the upcoming baseball roster up, with no updated basketball.  So that's a little weird.

Sometimes schools just roll over the previous year's roster and advance the names. Maybe if they know some of the recruits when they do that, they can add them in. Lots of SIDs roll over the rosters at the beginning of each summer for all sports. Others do it at other times. Schedules never have the same ... schedule.

I believe that D3 starts practicing Nov 1, NESCAC, Nov 15.  If memory serves NESCAC teams generally start posting rosters soon after November 1, on a rolling basis.  Usually fairly predictable, although in recent years Trinity and especially Conn College have had a ton of attrition.  Fairly quiet preseason it seems with few really hyped frosh, no transfers of note (that we yet know of), etc.  But more info will be coming soon!

It's Oct. 15 for Division III. NESCAC may well be Nov. 1, but since games start Nov. 8 this year, hopefully teams don't wait until Nov. 15.

Arrghh, not sure why I said that, yes, I was thinking October 15 and November 1!!

Pat, Dave, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought, let's say 3 to 5 years ago it used to be division 3 schools had November 15 as the first day they could play "regular season" games, with division 1 & division 2 it used to be the 2nd Friday (1st some years??) in November, and the CAC schools could start practicing on the 1st of November.  Not sure when the NCAA decided to get rid of the November 15 start date for d3 and 2nd Friday for d2 & d1 schools.

I know on occasion when the 2k classic played those campus round sites, those used to be played the Monday-Thursday before the "official" start, but can't remember them ever having a full schedule on a Tuesday to start.  And November 8 for d3 seems way to early, I want to say last year it was around November 11 or 12 for the start of the d3 season.
