Just read his passing online earlier in the day.  Remember his presence in LeFrak.  Alert eyes to the action on the court.  Unaware of his Bates' connection.

Sorry to hear about Russ Reilly, a true Nescac institution.

Hutcherson update from his social media:

Creighton, Marquette, Illinois and Notre Dame ... wow, pretty legit options for Hutcherson

nescac1

More info on Hutcherson's search, including quotes from him.  Seems likely he will end up at Notre Dame or Illinois.  If so, that would be two of the last six Nescac ROYs transferring to Big 10 / ACC schools.  Crazy.  Are Nescac coaches gonna start lobbying for their young guys to be ignored come league award season??

One way that Duncan Robinson pave the way for more D3 transfers is by making D1 coaches more aware. I'm sure some of them are keeping a closer eye on the D3 ranks after seeing his impact at Michigan.

The top, top players in D3 have always been good enough to make an impact at high-major D1 programs (particularly the wing players). I think seeing DR (and guys like Matt Hart) make the transition gives players more reason to explore the option, and D1 coaches more reason to pay attention.

Hutcherson won't be the last guy to make the jump.

Hey NESCAC Fans,

It's really unfortunate that we have to do this, but we have less than two weeks to raise a small fortune ($350) in order to renew our ownership of the domain name nothingbutnescac.com so if you've found our coverage of NESCAC sports entertaining, please consider helping us to keep it going for another two years!

More cool stuff for Will Hardy: https://ephsports.williams.edu/sports/mbkb/2018-19/releases/20190731uqnnh9

It's pretty amazing how many former NESCAC players are involved in a significant way with the NBA right now, given that hardly anyone in the NBA has ever heard of NESCAC basketball.

Koby Altman, Middlebury -- Cavs G.M.
Duncan Robinson, Williams -- Miami Heat player
Will Hardy, Williams -- Spurs assistant
Connor Johnson, Amherst -- head coach of Delaware Bluecoats (Sixers G-League affiliate)
Rafael Stone, Williams -- Executive VP of Basketball Operations and General Counsel for Houston Rockets

And that doesn't even count Williams' Tucker Kain, CFO of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Will Kuntz, VP of soccer operations and Assistant GM of Los Angeles Football Club (MLS)

Anyone I'm forgetting?

Although not a former player, Gillian Zucker (Hamilton '90) is the president of business operations for the LA Clippers.

Hutcherson commits to Illinois of the NESCAC West (aka the Big 10).  Truly great accomplishment for him, and of course a massive loss for Wesleyan.

If we're venturing from hoop:

Tom Stillman—a Midd hockey alum—is the owner of the Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues!

And another Midd alum, Terry McGuirk, is the chairman of the Atlanta Braves.

And, of course, Midd kicker Stephen Hauschka with the Buffalo Bills.

All of the management and coaching representation is impressive enough, but for the NESCAC to have alums who are active NFL and NBA players is INSANE.

If we start getting into athletes from other sports, no doubt there are a zillion (cough cough Belichick!).
