I had no horse in today's race but what a great D3 game it was to watch.   I think that Tufts sort of wore Colby down, especially with Jefferson not at full speed, but what a gutsy team Colby is.   They were/are a real joy to watch - well coached, play hard, all that you want out of a team.   The Tufts three to send it into OT was beyond Steph Curry range and might've been too much of a dagger in the heart of Colby, although I also felt that the foul called on the Tufts player before that was a downright bad call.  Should have been a jump ball.

Regardless ... lots of fun to watch.

Tufts up 12 at the half.  Colby struggling with Rogers.

The last month or so, Colby's offense has been stuck in the mud.

You have got to be kidding

Not kidding. For the first three months of the year Colby averaged 93.1 ppg on 49.3% from the floor and 40.4% from three. In February they've averaged 78.9 ppg on 41.1% from the floor and 32.9% from three. The February averages would be good for 7th in the league in ppg and last in fg percentage.

Obviously, Jefferson being out played a big role, as did playing some of the better defensive teams in the league. But, there's no doubt that Colby's offense is far from where it was early in the year.

And I wouldn't count out Amherst. Titan Q still has them projected as the last Pool C team right now.  They've not looked like we expected for most of the season, but there's a lot of tested, talented players on that team. I certainly wouldn't look forward to facing them in the tourney.

Titan Q's picks are also not updated to reflect Coast Guard's win over WPI or Ithaca's win over RPI. I just think at 18-8, plus the already tight bubble, it's not gonna happen for Amherst. But obviously that means if they make it they will probably make the deepest run of any team in the conference!

He had posted new ones that included Amherst, but deleted because it forgot to include the West Region. So who knows! We'll all find out soon enough.

Today's game was a NSN game with a NSN announcer.

Since I've been Mr. Contrarian all day...I believe this is not the usual JumboCast, but from the NSN usuals. Jumbocast is a great broadcast, probably the best in the NESCAC and other than Swarthmore's (hands down the best I've seen) and St. Joe's, the best in the region.

Also, credit to the Tufts SID or whoever put this video together: way too often are schools putting together highlight videos of games that only feature plays from their teams (CC: Williams College), it would be nice for those videos to actually serve as useful recaps and tapes for those who either can't watch the game in real time, or want to watch it back later.

That's what reminded me of it. Wesleyan is guilty of that too.

Hoopsville mock show has Amherst on the outside looking in. Came down to choosing them vs. UW Eau Claire or Hobart, and between the 18 wins and low non-conference strength of schedule.

Love em but they don't deserve to make it this year!
