The Midd guards rebound well. That's  something.
They'll need to because guard-wise they'll be giving away some inches to the Westfield guards.  Fortunately, that won't be the case with the forwards.

Wow.

Johns Hopkins just announced they are not allowing spectators for games this weekend.

What a shame! Getting caught up in the hysteria!!! Kids missing out on the experience of a lifetime. ( a packed house of people excited to see loved ones and fellow student athletes play. Guarantee they will never cancel a D1 conference tournament or NCAA game-will many more people in attendance.

Colby Hoops

Women's games at Amherst going to be no fans as well.

Colby Hoops

Colby down 32-17 at half, with CNU finishing on a 15-3 run. CNU is very disciplined and doesn't beat themselves, but man did Colby come out ice, ice cold. Live stats aren't working, but they missed at least 4-5 layups, at least 5 free throws and only have 2 threes on plenty of good looks. CNU's offense got going in the last 8 minutes of the half, Colby started playing very tight and the ball stopped moving. The worst offensive half of the season by a wide, wide margin.

Jefferson still can't move, and Colby is playing a 3-2 extended zone when he's in so he doesn't have to move as much.

If Colby plays well, they can definitely get back in this game. Move the ball and play freely!

Tommy Eastman plays close to home at Brockport NY against Westfield St.  Not a pretty game but the Panthers survive the first round.
Ok, Old Guy, Bucket and Vandy; take it away.

Colby Hoops

Colby falls to CNU 74-64. Man was that game there for the taking, really tough way to go out. Colby played a lot better in the second half and cut it to 4 two separate times, but couldn't get over the hump. So many missed bunnies and free throws. To be fair, CNU missed a lot of open looks from deep as well. CNU is god on defense, but Colby just missed a lot of looks they normally make (mostly layups and free throws!).

If Jefferson is even 75 percent of himself, they win that one. Big time bummer for him to end his career not being able to go at 100% -- he sat for most of the second half.

Congrats to CNU, they're very well coached and just an overall very solid team. If they make perimeter shots they'll be a tough out.

Disappointing way to end the year, but can't say this season was anything other than a massive success for the Mules. Congrats to a wonderful senior class on a great year and for entertaining the Colby fans more than we ever could have imagined. Will share some final thoughts on the season at some other point.

SpringSt7

Western Conn and their pressure defense giving Tufts all sorts of trouble, up 17 with 3 minutes left in the first half. Brennan Morris also in street clothes.

SpringSt7

Tufts comes from 19 down to beat Western Conn by 2, gifted an intentional foul by a WCSU player who thought they were trailing with 5 seconds left. Has not exactly been the best night for the NESCAC so far, with Colby out and Tufts and Midd not bringing their A games. But you know what they say, survive and advance...

middhoops

Middlebury's season comes to an end in upstate NY.
Brockport stepped up late, proving too athletic for the Panthers.
Good luck to Tufts going forward.

Old Guy

Good game, Midd-Brockport. Midd falls 84-81. Midd has the ball with 8 secs to play, down 83-81. Cahill gets the ball in the corner for an open three, his shot, a game winner, front-rims it: ball game.

Pleased that the lads played hard and well, resiliently, sad (for a time) at the outcome. It would have been fun to move on. Glad Tufts won. Go (sigh) Jumbos.

SpringSt7

Tufts is the only team from New England to advance out of this weekend.

My hope in writing this note is to respond to Pat Coleman's tweet stating "lets let basketball make the basketball decisions and let the basketball fans see the games." This is a tweet in repsonse to Amherst proposing to have a closed gym next Saturday for women;s playoff/ The UMWB women;s basketball coach and other two coaches are protesting not letting fans go to the game. The UMWB coach just states they were in San Antonio and near coronavirus patients last week.

As a physician I am writing for people to step back for a second. We are looking at a rapidly evolving  situation where last week in US we had very few cases and now we have over 300 cases  in over 30 states and this is definitely way understating the prevalence as testing kits are unavailable and not everyone gets tests. In Seattle and other cities are asking people to work at home . Importantly , people who are infected and incubating the virus often show no symptoms. As a. physician researcher I have had just in the last thred days, more than 3 of our meetings canceled becuase of caution about the virus-- some local in Boston and others in San Diego and Colorado. We just do not know who is infected. I was not comforted by the fact that UMWH coach and team were just in San Antonio where there is coronavirus.
Since the fans are coming from different parts of the country it is difficult to know the risk . The question is how will people feel if they demand to  have fans at the game and then just one person a parent or grandparent gets infectd and dies ??
My understanding Johns Hopkins last week had no  fans and Johns Hopkins has one of the best medical schools in America, I wonder if Johns Hopkins Sports spoke to individiuals at the medical school

To me the decision about these games should be made by local health officials not the fans respectivefully. Lets keep perspective about a game versus illness that can be serious
