i'll be honest with you. this whole computer thing is new and i have my 11 yr.old grandson teaching me what to do.  hoopfan thanks for the boost.. who is your team and give me a breakdown

Well Red, I don't have a horse in the NESCAC.  I pride myself as a NE region man.  I follow most of the teams in New England pretty closely.  I'm glad to see you've got the generation gap bridged there.  I look forward to many more insightful posts in the future.

thanks for your kind words. i tried to see the top players in the league when it was possible. unfortunately i guess i didn't see enough to get the names down. i like the league and the game at this level. the kids mentioned by all of you are more than capable of playing up a division or two. my thinking is they did the right thing and got a good education and will walk away still loving basketball. not sure the fellas that chose scholarships over scholarly pursuits can say the same

Auerbach, Welcome to the Dance!

BBking, there are great satirists on this page so I'm not sure how to interpret your question. I've repeatedly gone on record saying that Coulibaly's situation in bizarre. However, he went to St. George's one of our nations most historic independent boarding schools, he goes to Brown and for whatever reason bball doesn't work out. Does he have a lot of options(remember everyone praises his intellectual and artistic capabilities)? The answer is yes, but I suspect that those who advised him did not want him to "settle" for anything less than a Williams or Amherst. Basketball wise, that is a shame. I believe that a Williams or Amherst education is likely superior to that of even other NESCAC schools and at least on par with the Ivies(certainly more intimate). But, could he not be a shining star at Colgate or another Patriot League school (Adonal Foyle made out ok)? He's a great artist, ok. Connecticut College has a fantastic fine arts department and quality basketball. If you've "got the love", like we all do, and like I'm sure Adolphe does, it has to be killing him sitting next to Selerno.

I would say I am the tufts expert in around these parts so i think i can help you out with number 20 (ryan okeefe)...

This sophmore from everett mass is one of the most deadly scorers in the league.  while some of you might think he didnt have the best year for one of the most deadly scorers in the league, but he did score a team high 21 against the "best defensive team in the league" bates.  he also had 24 and 26 points earlier in the year.  sometimes he gets overlooked because a lot of plays tufts runs is for d. martin due the the nature of his high percentage shots, but watch out because this strong guard will take you to the rack and finish, pull up off the dribble or stroke the deep 3.

if you werent too impressed with him this year, look out for him next year, although im sure some of you have seen ryan the microwave okeefe get hot in a hurry.

formerbant- what about the disastrous williams game?

Hoopfan, Can any of the other NE teams beat Amherst or Tufts? I saw UMASS Boston play RI College early in the year. Not sure either of them are close. UMASS guys i'm not putting you down

Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan)

UMass-Boston always has the raw talent, but I don't think there is anyone in the bracket that can hang with either of the NESCAC schools.

Ryan O'keefe("the Irish kid from Everett", that wasn't so bad. I bet I didn't offend Ryan). His stats looked good heading into the Amherst game. He didn't do much on offense but he played a smart game. Understands what to do with his triple threat. He had his hands full . thanks for the info. didn't remember he just a soph

I liked O'Keefe this weekend.  It looks like he picks his spots well to fit within the flow of the offense.  With Martin and Weitzen, you normally don't need to him to pour in the points, but he did a great job of leading the Jumbos during much of that Trinity game.  He looks like a pretty creative player off the dribble.

Plattsburgh-Hamilton tonight to determine who comes visiting the Valley.  A few fellow students and I have been wondering this week: when did Hamilton leave the NESCAC for basketball?  I know it had something to do with the lack of a travel partner for league play.  How did they fare when they were in the league?

auerbach,

Yes, welcome. I hope I didn't offend you when I pulled up apart your post. I am an equal opportunity poster and try and give it to anyone who deserves it (see below).

Nescachoopsfan,

O'Keefe is good. Great shot against Amherst to put it into OT. He finished the NESCAC finals with 4 points. Proclaiming him "one of the most deadly scorers in the league" is a joke. 20 players in NESCAC average more points than him per game. Those 20 players ahead of him include 2 wesleyan tech players and 7 sophomores. The fact that he scored 20+points two or three times in a season is nothing to brag about.

CCSalive,

Thanks for the Salerno plug. Word is spreading...catch the fever.

Geronimo,

Come back!

Let me be the first to put the NESCAC on Notice.

O'keefe is a lock down defender and he's not that far away from being a Colin Tabb like player for the next two years.
