Boo: You dance as you play basketball - like what you are, namely nice, white, low jumping, not-very-quick, had-it-easy-in-life suburban boys with high SAT scores.

Dr E. Spengler

Spengs here to drop knowledge on everyone once again.

First, to everyone who has a problem with Amherst storming the court...think of every buzzer beater in recent memory whether or to send the game into overtime or not.  Duke stormed the court against an unranked, bottom of the acc team in the form of Virginia Tech this year.  And I am sure your little basketball brains can think of many instances where this is true.

Second, everyone talking like Amherst is barely breathing because of Olson's shot...that the shot only goes in 1 time out of 100? Who cares?...Olson put the ball where it needed to be and it found nothing but the bottom of the net.  No help from the rim or anything else, just a little thing I like to call destiny.  It only has to go in once.

If you weren't there...ask somebody...but in reality, you'll never know.

Steve Clay.....great Jumbocast as usual....this one should go into the Jumbocast "Classic" archives, along with the Tufts-Trinity Mudbowl from last fall.  Thanks for all your efforts.

Steve,

My voice was shot when Olson made the three.  The three guys in my booth barely made it through overtime.  I don't think I have ever felt an odder combination of emotions in a three second span - tension, initial hope (when we inbounded to look for a shot), despair (when Olson had no look and launched the shot), sorrow (when I realized we were going to lose in the Sweet Sixteen again), to pure, unabashed elation when it went in.  Amherst was NOT losing overtime after that.

You can't beat a game like that.  It may be a cliche, but it is a shame that someone had to lose last night.  With that said, I'd prefer to see a less exciting game tonight come out in the Jeffs' favor.  One's heart can only take so much.

Based on what I saw last night, I like Fisher's guard play and their deadly aim from outside, but I'm not sold on their interior play.  I think it's a better matchup for Amherst than Tufts was because they play a similar style of ball and I don't see anybody KILLING us on the boards.  With that said, we'd better do a better job of boxing out if we want to go to Salem.

Rumor has it some people had trouble hearing us last night over the web on our broadcast.  I'm going to look at our studio equipment this afternoon so we should be better and louder tonight.  JeffRookie is on first half duty I think, myself on second half.  6:45ish pre-game, 7:00PM tip, http://wamh.amherst.edu/

somebody give frank uible some karma points.....

this game will be over in the first half.  amherts' momentum from the unbelievable win will carry them to an easy victory....my team is out of it, so i will comment on the coffin-hauben comparisons-i'd call it a draw, and move on to something more important....like dinner......

St. John Fisher is getting punk'd by Amherst right now.

I would like to congratulate Amherst. They played better than Fisher and earned the win. Any time you hit 15+ threes you are going to win every time. Good luck in Salem.

Amherst is playing real well; we'll see if they are still on that level next Friday.

Good win and another good season for Fisher.  Way to represent the NE, Jeffs.

Great scene tonight at LeFrak.

Amherst went up big early and St. John Fisher never really got into the game.  The Jeffs shot over 50% from beyond the arc - Wheeler started the second half with four consecutive threes in about 2 minutes of play.  Wheeler makes the all-sectional team, joined by Kumf from Tufts and sectional MVP Mr. Andrew Olson, who had another tremendous game.  He's showing more confidence now than he has all year.  The bounce passes, no-looks, and alley-oops that we saw last year are back.  His swagger has returned and I can't wait to see it on display in Salem.  Bedford is only 5 or 6 points away from 1500 for his career now.  Goldsmith has another solid game.  He came in and did just enough on Martin last night to save the game down the stretch, and then tonight scored double figures and had some big rebounds.  The Jeffs did much better on the glass tonight but still need to improve this week to have a shot in Salem.  O'Shea did yeoman's work this weekend - 15 pts last night and a bunch of boards tonight.  Caz had yet another solid game.  Looks like Tufts was a big wake-up, and the guys are clicking again.

Onto the Final Four!

Good analysis, Mr. Mike.

Amherst is definitely clicking and has offense coming from all directions. There's about 7 different guys who can be the gamebreaker for Amherst on any given night. And did I mention Mike Salerno?

Amherst is hot. Wish i could go to salem, unfortunately i will be serving grind sandwiches in nassau, bahamas.

like i said, no one can stop the amherst offense.

where's obrien? clap-clap clapclapclap

O'Brien was there all night... with a defender in his face.  I think the Jeffs stepped up the pressure tonight.  VERY few open looks from Fisher resulted in a terrible shooting %.

IWU just won an unbelievable game over Puget Sound 113-99.  Amazing game the whole way.  I can't say enough.  If you can find the archived broadcast, check it out, especially the last 10-15 minutes.

Here's a stat for you guys: Andrew Olson tonight, 10 Assists, 1 Turnover.  He broke the school's single-season record for assists, too.

Olson is launching himself into the national spotlight this year.  Only a Sophomore, I expect he'll be pretty high in the pre-season all-american votes next year as many of the top point guards are graduating.

Fisher has nothing to be ashamed of, my only question is how does an amherst team have a lineup fileld of out of state players san diego etc, and fisher is besides biegel made up of local ny small school kids, my complaint is simple fisher doesnt admit kids into the school for free, amherst does only reason to explain it which is why a team run like fishers cant compete with a team run like amhersts.
