or the fact that amherst is the top liberal arts college in the country... it makes recruiting a little easier than at a third rate place like st johns fisher. people actually want to come to this school..no one here had even heard of fisher until tonight.

Amherst is a good school, but I can say with definite certainty that the dumbest kid in my law school class is from Amherst.  But I'm just from lowly Ithaca, what do I know? Potsdam rejects at Fisher? In the words of Jay-Z, "what kinda facts are those?" Plain and simple, an incorrect statement.

Congrats to Amherst on a big win today. The momentum obviously carried over from last night and they jumped on Fisher. I hope they go on to do the East Region proud. I'm tired of everyone dissing the East region in every D3 sport.

FYI, Fisher is the training camp home for the Buffalo Bills. Just in case you needed to remember that school for any reason. Fisher will always be a contender for that very reason; great facilities because of their affiliation with the Bills. When you have an NFL-quality weight room, athletes will come to your school. Again, congrats to Amherst and congrats to Fisher and all their seniors. I commend the Fisher fans for acting with great class. The same can be said for MOST Amherst fans, but not all. Win with some class, Mike T and BooBoo.

Boo: If one tried, it is doubtful that one could have made your point any more arrogantly and insensitively than you did.

I'm serious bud.

Ben Coffin Named New England Div. III Player of the Year;

That doesn't mean he was better than Hauben. A note: Rochester is not in New England.

I saw first-hand and am perfectly fine with Hauben ahead of Coffin.

My voice was shot when Olson made the three.  The three guys in my booth barely made it through overtime.

I believe the D3hoopsNet crew was fine. :)

Looks like Tufts was a big wake-up, and the guys are clicking again.

I would say to call Tufts a wake-up, doesn't give the credit to Tufts. Tufts would have done the same thing to Fisher, The Nescac was sending a Team out of the region. The Amherst/Tufts III was the best game I have seen this year, to say that simply Amherst was "sleeping" is a joke.

hoopandtheharm

From an Empire 8/NY State fan, congrats to Amherst's team. Great shooting and strong defense, that should do the trick. Play like that and Salem is your playground.

BooBalls - your comments and tone are exactly why people dislike some from your academically elite school/conference. I'll make this clear, I will not paint the entire conference or its fans with the same brush based on your comments but you are clearly a pompous, ignorant snob. Regardless, I wish you well.

Amherst and most NESCAC schools can do what they do becuase they are the best academic schools in our division, they have sickly endowments and they can package a kid for near full rides and its legal becuase that is how they package the student body. There are also many, many kids who come from very wealthy backgrounds and do not need aid and go to these schools because of its reputation and their family can pay the full cost. With this equation it is impossible for these teams not to be so good and we cannot fault them for that.

I hope Amherst wins it all - great team.

Congrats to Amherst players, you guys played incredbile last night, If you play like that I can't see any team stoping you.  but your fans, you guys represent your school, people who don't see Amherst on a day to day basis take a sample of how your student body acts at a game, and for the most part you guys were really good fans, but as booballs is pointing out there is another samll crowd that left all of the fisher fans with a bad taste in their mouths.  Celebrate you team, don't bad mouth Fisher,  Fisher has some incredible programs at fisher and if your in the right major really sets you up for the future, as amherst does too.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

i acknowledge that my comments were arrogant and insensitive, and i apologize for that. listening to guys call us white suburban rich kids who cant jump and then saying our team is only this good because we let in poor kids is what pushed me down this path. i should have just made the point that amherst gets many of their best players because they are attracted by the academic reputation of amherst. fisher could be a great school with excellent programs, i really do not know and have not looked into it.

as for the potsdam cheers at the game and on this board: these are completely uninformed, ignorant chants, but that was the fun in it. it started in response to fisher fans chanting "tufts rejects" at the amherst crowd, which was also either a funny joke or an ignorant chant.

cant wait to see amherst take the final four. sounds like wittenberg is solid, but amherst is shooting the lights out. wheeler is on fire. casnocha, bedford, and olson are money. cash money. corrigan brings a whole different look every time he comes in, and his poise and ballhandling skills are LEGIT.

FINAL FOUR! FINAL FOUR! FINAL FOUR!

superman57

the tufts rejects was just funny, but then again Tufts is a great school so being a tufts reject is really nothing to be ashamed of.  Tufts is probably better then Amherst, again excuse me if my facts are mixed up.  Next time a better chant, might be UofR rejects or Ithaca rejects

congrats to fisher on a great season and a great run.....

congrats to amherts.  i believe you guys have enough to win it all, but will need to catch a few breaks along the way.  i am really more happy for nescac.  no matter what the reasons, nescac is an elite b-ball conference and should be recognized as such.  i read alot of negative comments about our league this year, and i thought most were unjustified.  the bad news for those who continue to dis the nescac, is the league will remain strong, based on what i see returning next year.  top to bottom, the league is returning to the form it once had in the '90's and will continue to make for some really exciting games (and shorter winters!!!).....

mrmike88

Just want to clarify my choice of words earlier.  When I said Tufts was a "wake up," I didn't mean it in the fact that Tufts was not as good and that they didn't deserve to be in that game.  Not at all.  Over the course of the season, I was most impressed with the Jumbos out of any of the teams I had the pleasure of watching.  Just a fun team, plays with heart, can beat you in so many ways.  I also was not implying in any way that Amherst was "sleeping" or not playing with passion.  You don't play an instant classic like that without desire.

What I really tried to imply was that, to the outside observer, Amherst took their game to another level against Fisher.  I think you attribute that directly to the battle they had on Friday night.  Tufts brought out the best of them.  Olson's 3 and the overtime win built a ton of momentum that then carried over to the Fisher game.

mrmike88

P.S. When did the posters on this board get so angry?

Pretty psyched to be going back to Salem. Glad Amherst came through for those who picked them in their bracket. Last night was a lot of fun. Good to see Amherst taking care of business at home. Wheeler was unconscious, and when one of your shooters decides not to miss for large stretches of the game, you become hard to beat. I personally enjoyed the "Thank-You-Bed-ford" Clap-Clap Clapclapclap chant the most. Wesleyan is absent from the field in Salem but it seems that if your school has "Wesleyan" in the name, you get to go?

Andrew Olson is overrated though...

"RAFTERS!...........................oh.... WITTENBERG!"
